Wasn't sure what board this should go in....but anyway...
Is there anyone here who enjoyed The Brawl For All besides myself?
I think it was an awesome idea that really let the fans know just who was the legit toughest in the locker room. Sure, it was said to be "cursed", but I really enjoyed seeing the midcard/tough guys battle it out for some recognition.
Would any of you mind seeing a Brawl For All concept nowadays?
I wouldn't mind seeing the mid-card and toughest guys on the rosters knock the crap out of each other for a few 2 minute rounds. The tournament was initially voluntarily, but here are my top 8 guys that I'd like to see in a Brawl For All tournament...
Marcus Cor Von Finlay William Regal Shad Gaspard Elijah Burke Umaga Chuck Palumbo Tommy Dreamer
Shad is a veteran of Toughman competitions, but I think Regal or Burke would end up winning a Brawl For All type situation.

I dont see it being done, but if they ever did, Shad, Burke or Regal would win.

I enjoyed it for being unique. Actually, at the time, I was really into it. I saw a couple of the fights live (Steve Williams vs. Carl Ouellette (Jean-Pierre Lafitte / Quebecer Pierre), and 2 Cold Scorpio vs. 8-Ball (one of the Harris twins).
But the reason I liked it was the same reason it turned out to be a bad idea for the WWF: It exposed those who were truly not as tough as their gimmick, it revealed which not-so-big stars were actually tougher than their more-pushed opponents, and it caused a bunch of legit injuries.
They also screwed themselves over by designing the thing as a way to push Dr. Death, and then watching as Bart Gunn knocked him the F out in the early going.
Rule #1 of "shoot" fighting: You cannot make future booking plans around the expected winner, because if they lose, you're screwed.

Yeah I enjoyed it and I dont think it got the credit it deserves for being something different and unique. I always looked forward to those bouts and I wouldnt mind if they did it again but i dont see it happening.

It was great, I've still got all these fights on tape & still enjoy watching it at last to see Bradshaw getting sparked. Whole point was introduce Dr Death as a hardass killer to challenge Steve Austin, instead Bart Gunn F'ed him up. Never understood why Bart Gunn never got pushed to the moon as a super shooter, they must have had a similar plan for Dr Death so why not salvage that & give Bart gunn a push. Even if only a few quick KO's & then losing to Austin on PPV. Instead Bart got lost in the shuffle & then viciously sparked by Butter bean at WM, in what Butterbean still calls his favourite KO.
Can't see it happening again as you can't [predict victories in a genuine shoot as in the UFC this year with so many stunning upsets already. Plus there was a lot of injuries suffered by the wrestlers throughout the fights

I just recently saw it, it was actually pretty cool at sometimes, while others were really boring. I like Godfather vs. Scorpio and Bart vs. Dr. Death,

i wanna see another one of um, especially if they put taker in there Not trying to knock Taker, but I don't think he'd ever get in there against anyone in a Brawl For All scenario. He'd have A LOT to lose going in. Imagine his legacy being tarnished by getting knocked on his ass by Shad Gaspard or Elijah Burke... or someone else with Boxing/shoot fighting experience. The first Brawl For All was voluntarily and had no main event wrestlers take part because they would lose all their heat when they got KO'ed by a midcarder or jobber.

A modern day Brawl 4 All would be
Regal Richards Balls Dreamer Marella Shad Nike Knox Nunzio

Blackman would of won if he didnt get injured and have to give up his spot. Personally I think Dan "The Beast" Severn, former UFC Heavyweight Champion & UFC 5 & Ultimate Ultimate 1 Tournament champion might have taken it with ease if he hadn't of bowed out of the tourney.

Regal & Nunzio are both shooters, while Shad has the toughman competition experience. Also, I would have like to see Shamrock compete in that 1st Brawl For All. Would have like to have seen him throw hands with Bart Gunn.

I was there for the first matches in Cleveland, OH. The live crowd hated it, and it turned into a huge disaster for most involved. WWE would have to be crazy to try it again. There is too much genuine shoot fighting on tv now, and it would really show how unskilled pro wrestlers are at it. There are too many top stars injured right now, and I don't think decimating the lower levels of talent would be the smartest move.

Yeah, although I really liked the brutal knock-out from Butterbean to Bart "I Got Hammered" Gunn, I just didn't really like the whole concept of boxing in the world of wrestling. It was one of the many stupid ideas Vince McMahon has come up with over the years. Add the WBF and the XFL to that list as well.

There are too many top stars injured right now, and I don't think decimating the lower levels of talent would be the smartest move. Now that you mention it, the crowd for Williams vs. Ouellette and Scorpio vs. 8-Ball (Binghamton, NY) crapped all over it as well. The reaction fluctuated back and forth between total silence and chants of "boring." Personally, I enjoyed it... but then again I was always into true fights, and not all wrestling fans are. Especially when they paid money to see WWF "entertainment" and are forced to sit through a stripped-down boxing and amateur wrestling exhibition twice during a three-hour show.
