I was looking at B10 Ziggler yesterday at TRU. They had four left and every one had paint flaws either on the tights or boots, and stray black marks on the skin area. I also noticed some problems when I bought the TLC series. Last year I could pick up any figure and it would be close to perfect. Not expecting perfection or start a conspiracy, just asking.

Yes. I found TLC about a week ago.. and was going to buy both Wade Barrett's (1 for me and 1 for my nephew)... both of their heads were painted really badly. So I'm still looking.
It took me forever to find the blue Elite Jericho, cause everytime I found it, it was painted terribly.

The bad paintjobs have been there from the start. The quality control in general is atrocious. I've got a WrestleMania Heritage Edge that's got a completely messed up paintjob on one boot. I saw another of those figures on a shelf with exactly the same screwup as well.
My series 10 Triple H has, for some reason, a white line along half of his beard. And I've got tons of figures with black marks or such on them. My Royal Rumble Heritage Cena looks like he's got a black eye because of dots of paint underneath the eye.

Not with my Mattel's but buying the Hasbro Captain America figures the other day was an adventure trying to find at least one of each figure that was flawless

I have a couple Mattels with very light black marks on them.. my Jericho Variant in blue on his left leg has a little light black on it you can only see it lookin up close under a light, and same with sheamus elite 8, he has a tiny mark under his eye and christian elite 3 of course on his arms from the jacket he comes with.. idk what to use to get them off but not ruin the paint for sure

The only figure I have with poor paint apps is my B7 Michelle, whose design is smudged on her right boot. Flawless, my ass.

I've noticed it as well. I'm very picky about the figures as I like them to be as perfect as possible. Lately, I've been passing on figures that I really want due to the poor paint applications on them. It's either the face, attire, or just black marks on the body area. I had to pass on several Basic 7 Yoshis before I finally found a good one months later. I had to go through 10 RRH Sheamus before I found one that seemed good, and even that one had a black mark on the back on his leg.

The black marks are what really threw me off because I have seen them a bunch of times on the newer figures. Who knows if the marks are easily rubbed off (without acetone or other chemicals)? That's why I passed. They are massed produced, so I don't expect perfection, but close to perfect would be nice.

Got TLC King Sheamus today and he has little red splotches (same colour as hair) on his arm and back.

My elite Ryder has weird marks all on the orange part of his tights. Also, the paintjob is messed up on the face on his tights. The mouth is on that little circle on the outside of the knee that turns when you bend the knee, and it's 90 degrees off so when the figure's leg is straight, the mouth is vertical.

Paint jobs have gotten progressively worse imo. In the beginning I was having some trouble with it but its been super terrible lately. WMH CM Punk had chips and smeared paint on the back of his trunks, my E8 Edge was terrible with paint screw ups all over his tights, and B10 Zack Ryder is messed up on the license plate area. I actually feel fortunate for finding clean Wade Barrett's after reading this. It took me 2 tries and 6 different figures to get a TLC Edge that was near perfect on the paint job. It's my biggest pet peeve with the line right now. They want to increase the price? Great, but if I have to buy two of the same figure because the paint job is ed up then I'm going to be pissed.

Yeah...for the most part I've been pretty lucky with paint jobs. Although the back of the trunks on the basic 10 Ryder I just got this week has a bit of a paint issue. The "K" in the YKI at the of the plate was screwed up a bit. Almost as if the leg was bent back into the butt while the paint was still wet a bit. But a little purple paint fixed it up pretty good. Good enough for me anyway.
