I thought about putting this in the customs discussion forum, but I'm not asking for custom purposes. My elite Zack Ryder has an error. The side of the tights has a Zack cartoon face on it. The little circle on the side of the knee -- a plastic bolt or peg or whatever it is -- has the mouth of the face. But the thing is, it's set in the wrong position, so the mouth is vertical when he's standing up straight.
What I want to do is take the knee apart and set that thing in the right position. How easy is this? What's the process?
EDIT: Does anyone have a picture of a disassembled elite leg? I'm worried that even if I do take it apart, I won't be able to turn the part that's been painted as it might be fixed to the knee joint.

Just heat up and take apart like jakks DA's, I think that's what you mean

So if they're heated, they are easy to literally just pull apart without breaking (and can be put back together)? I've only done headswaps before, but the knees seem more intricate.

It is very similar to a headswitch. I just heat with a hairdryer then bend the leg slightly so the peg pops out, you might have to heat it again to put back in (dont heat the peg as it will slip in easier when hard... haha).

They are easy to take apart. Like others have said you just heat the joint with a hairdryer for 1 - 2 minutes and the pin will pop out. But can you take a pic of what is wrong with it so we can see if it can be fixed before you try and take it apart?

I can't take a picture of mine, my figures are packed away for the next few days, but here's an image from Micro's "A closer look at Elite 9" thread: You can see how the mouth is on the circle. On mine, the rotation of the mouth is about 90 degrees off when the leg is in that position, so it's a vertical smile. Here's a terrible Paint rendition:

boil some water, pour into a bowl or mug or something, hold the knee part in there for a couple of minutes, then it should be soft enough to pull apart by hand. its best to pull out the peg completely, if you just pull out one end it will probably distort the peg as it cools.
to put it back together you might need some pliers. it depends on the figure, some of the stiffer/thicker joints i have to use pliers to put them back together, some I don't.
you basically want to lay the leg on the side (again make sure it's heated enough to be soft), with the joint laying in position. then use something solid (i recomment the handles of the pliers) to push the peg all the way through (leaving the leg in position on the table the whole time)
be careful not to burn yourself on the hot water or stab yourself with the pliers or hurt your fingers by pushing too hard on the peg.
alternatively you could just try to find some pliers that will grip both sides of the peg so you can turn it without taking the leg apart. but it depends on the thickness of the leg, and i'd suspect this method would be more likely to mark/scratch the figure.

Yes you can take the pin out like I mentioned above and put it back in the correct way. But it might rotate when you bend the knee. Does it rotate when you bend the knee now?

Yeah, it rotates a bit as the knee bends. Thanks for the tips, guys. I'll give it a try when I'm resettled.
