Hey, its me. Please, read this.
First of all, I'd just like to mention how wonderful it is to finally hold a major championship. It means a lot when you have been participating on WF Pay per views for around 2-3 years, and finally it gets payed off with a WHC reign. However, since around the 1 1/2 year mark of me participating in these pay per views, things were a little messed up. Most people were turning on each other, most people were talking behind people's backs (myself included admittedly) due to the overall fact that people were either jealous of people winning stuff that they shouldn't have, bending the rules a little bit to suit their needs (when people hand in stips the wrong way (not just me)) or just the fact that it sparks competition; that people feel the need to completely rip someone to shreds due to them being 'better' then them in animation.
Over the course of this year (and the end of the last year), things hit a major blow when people would rant on and on about the sake of the PPV's not being up in time, while the bagging of animators continued. Also, that people would be put in matches against one good animator out of 1598409534 and be kicked out of a 'competition' style of match at a PPV for a WHC/Euro title match whatever. The amount of time and effort that you put in an animation, gets shadowed by a better animation, which therefore leaves you defeated. Another thing, the guest hosting has really made this site 'bad' in some ways. Although it is a good thing that it is giving certain people the responsibility of hosting something without mod powers is really cool, I would have been on board with that ages ago. However, what it has done, has brought people to the point of utter resent and despair.
People hated when Jesse and Scott were guest hosts, people hated when the stips were late, people hated when the voting was crap, people hated when one guest host was doing one thing, while the other one was doing another, giving everyone mixed messages.
From this, what I'm trying to announce is, I have quit WF PPV's.
It's the sadness and sheer frustration of the whole thing that has really made me believe on what the whole situation is truly like. People are ‘cut throat’ with each other about PPV's and therefore resent each other, and that was not what it was like years ago. PPV's are about having fun and participating, not about 'being the best' in terms of man power (building unstoppable factions), not voting at all and only in it just to view the animations themselves. On top of that, it's the sheer ignorance and stubbornness about people boasting about winning matches or winning titles which has made the site even worse.
Enough about the site itself, and onto why I'm making this decision personally. A lot of people say 'oh yeah I only quit because animating is fun anymore'. My reason, is the PPV's themselves. They are being overshadowed by the top animators, and then, when an underdog gets a title, its as if he doesnt deserve it in anyway possible. I thought that when Arrow nearly beat LKS, it was pretty amazing - rather then a 'fluke' (as some people like to call it) cause it showed that Arrow was a 'force to be reckon with'.
Also, my worse animations have come from stips. My two WHC stips were the worst animations I have ever done, and surprisingly, they made me retain my title.
I would really like to thank some people for this amazing experience over the last three years.
First of all, I'd like to thank Wes, for obviously being my tag partner, but also, the person that coped most of the bitching from (as well as Nick who I dont think will read this but meh.........NICK IS GOD!), and being a good friend through the rough times of the PPV’s
Secondly, Ross, who was always my source of how the pivot board was going on certain occasions
Thirdly, Walker, who was also a person that coped a lot of bitching about others, but also helped me with it. I thank you a lot.
EDIT: Also, to Mitch, who has been there since the start. Although he can be annoying at times , he means well. Overall, a very funny and nice guy when I needed a good rant.....guy
Austin.......for being a good friend a while back (not at all now cause I think he's a complete douche now). Thats all I can say about him really :/
The last one that I have to thank, is Mike. Mike essentially introduced me to the board and a week later, we signed up for the tag titles and won them on that PPV a month later; made my debut that much special.
Overall, it was a great experience participating in PPV's, but I feel its become much more than 'having fun' and rather more 'trying to be something like you're not and being a huge boasting machine, which in turn breeds hatred and resent'.
Now before you say to yourself 'OMG HES QUIT ANIMATION! IM GIVING YOU A TRIBUTE. D: D: D: D: D: D: D:'. Please don't. Im quitting here, not animation overall, so don't be completely saddened.
It makes my experience so much special by leaving out by cashing in on the WHC, and then retaining it at Animania, the biggest PPV event on WF. In the words of Edge when he retired: 'You couldn't ask for anything better then to retain the WHC at Wrestlemania', and that fits well with this situation.
I would love to come back again, but I feel that it needs to be a one-off.
Thanks for reading this rant and this......retirement?
MY Wfig's career, is over.
