Hi. I recently downloaded Sony Vegas Pro 10 Trial from the official Sony website. I downloaded the trial, and when I looked in My Documents where I downloaded it, everything in it was gone except the ing sony vegas trial. Everything was in it just before I started the download, I wasn't downloading anything else nor was I on any other websites. I didn't have a virus or anything. I have looking on google and a few other people have had this issue. So now I have lost everything in My Documents, trying to restore files using a Data Recovery program, but only managed to completely restore a couple of stuff. My advice, stay away from this ing piece of crap program!

I highly doubt Vegas 10 is to blame for all your stuff disappearing.

There is no way that could be an issue with Vegas unless you downloaded it from a less than reputable source.

The only way I could see it being an issue is if Vegas was somehow set to clear the folder it was installed to, which doesn't make a great deal of sense, but it's all I can think of. I'm still running Vegas 7 and when I install it, it makes its own folders which are clear to begin with. No idea how 10 works.

Is there no documents when you try putitng stuff into Sony Vegas? or is it no stuff on your computer at all?
If its no stuff on your computer at all, Go into my computer. Put the mouse over local drive C, don't click it just have it above it, It will appear with how much Gb has been used. If there is alot of space taken your things should still be on your computer, If it's alot of free space then it's gone. If there was lots of space taken go into search, All files and folders, then search one of your files and you should find it. Right Click it and click open the folder this item is located, you should then find all your stuff.
I have never had this problem with sony vegas since I started using it.

I used Vegas 4, 7, 8 , and now a portable version of 10 that doesn't even require installing its just a desktop item so this scenario is every strange. If you DL'd it from Sony as you said this shouldn't happen. If it was indeed a full version from a third party site then an occurrence may happen. I am not here to state the wrongs or rights of a third party full download but there are risks in that however I have never heard of this happening and I do know of a good amount of people who obtain programs that way so I do not believe Vegas did erase it and if its even erased it was something else.
If not then you have a case and should contact Sony, you may have a case with that since Sony isn't too popular with online security at the moment anyhow.

It won't let me install Sony Vegas. There is nothing at all. Did a search on Drive C for the missing stuff, found nothing.

It installs it to C://Program Files/Sony/Vegas10. If the folder doesn't exist it makes it. Seeing as you got the trial version I can't help but be suspicious you got a shonky keygen to ''obtain'' the full version and it deleted your files. If you got Vegas from this link: www.sonycreativesoftware.com/download/trials/vegaspro It isn't vegas deleting your files. Get a decent AV/Malware remover. I recommend AVG Free and Malware Bytes and run a thorough scan.

I contacted Sony about this but they never replied. I spoke to someone who uses Vegas and they say that it is an issue with the trial but not the full version, so I'm just going to buy the full version.

I wouldn't say Sony Vegas is the Worst Program ever. Because if you form an opinion based on the "Technology" side of it. It most likely will be very good.
On Topic: I do know that there are several programs that will recover your files. But it cost depending on the size/quantity of files. And, I doubt the Programs will fully recover everything, especially if you have several files in your Documents. I myself downloaded the Trial, and later bought, Sony Vegas Pro 10 and I did not have a problem. It could depend on the Computer.
Do you have a Mac or PC?

I have a PC. But I'm okay with the files being lost now. I said it was the worst program ever because at the time I was angry. Thanks for the help guys.

Ok. Maybe make a new folder when you install a vegas program? It may work.
