User pjm286 came up with a nickname for an overproduced figure. I used to work with him and we collected the Hasbro Indiana Jones action figures and he said that overproduced figures Mutt Williams'd because we believed that that figure ruined the line.

There's also been at least 3 Flex Force Cena's, probably more I didn't really count FlexForce, since almost nobody on here gets them. Do they all use the same body/head? Yeah, they're filled. On the other hand you know who isn't sick of seeing tons of John Cena figures? 10 year old kids. Making sure theres always a good chance of a rey mysterio and john cena on the shelves is the smartest thing mattel can do. If a kid doesn't have any figures and is walking down the toy isle, and is a wrestling fan, and he sees the 2 most popular superstars figures then theres a good chance he'll probly want them and then build his collection from there. I might not have ever gotten into collecting if I hadn't gone to RAW, then walmart the next day and saw Bret Hart and HBK from bca3. If they only had vader and ahmed johnson I may never had picked up my first jakks figures. Great point. It's easy to say "there's too many Cenas" when we're going into the toy aisle at least once a week and spending tons on these figures to add to our already huge collections, but there are far more kids out there who just want a Cena or Rey. Cena's do well here. What REALLY makes me sick are all the Hart Dynasty 2pks and Elite Kidd & Smith figs clogging every Wal Mart!! Hart Dynasty and Legacy are the cloggers here. There are still tons of Hart Dynasty from series 4 and series 9 on the shelves. |

What bothers me most is when I'm hunting for a new set...For example, I'm having a hell of a time finding B10 Wade & Ryder and all I can come across is pegs upon pegs of Cena! I understand that he's the "fan favorite" or whatever but, to the serious collector like me and many others on this board...

What bothers me most is when I'm hunting for a new set...For example, I'm having a hell of a time finding B10 Wade & Ryder and all I can come across is pegs upon pegs of Cena! I am not the collector who has to have the one with blue shorts or green shorts. It's the same with Rey Mysterio he has like a million different repaints out there and you only need one. |

Yeah, you still don't get it. The main market for these figures isn't us. We represent a very small part of the audience. For everyone on this board that doesn't want the latest Cena figure, there are a hundred kids who've never been on this site or any newzsites that do want it. They release approximately twenty-four current figures every two months. I don't know how you'd expect it to even be possible or sensible to be a year and a half into the line and not have released more than one figure of a particular wrestler, but I'd love to see your ideal series 1-11 lineups. Furthermore, how many of us here could afford to buy every Mattel WWE figure that comes out? I could, just about, and maybe fifty to a hundred others on here could say the same. It would be absolutely stupid for them to target only us. The figures aren't made with the idea that everyone has to have every single figure in their collection -- if they were, that would be a line that would appeal only to about fifty or so of us. Not good business. They're made solely to shift as many units as possible. And that means using the characters that are going to appeal the most to the average person walking down the aisle of the toy store. Not to the collector who can afford to buy everything and needs a Trent Baretta more than a John Cena/Mysterio/Orton. |

One of our local Wal-Mart stores had the Elite 7 Cena on clearance for a while but the rest of that wave was regular price. The eventually sold them all. I wish they could get rid of the 20 or so DCUC Zatana and Gold figures now.

I know the main demographic is little kids but, I think that Every PPV series having a Cena is pushing it a little bit. Maybe they should release Cena no more than twice a year. |

you have to also keep in mind that Mattel must sell these figures to the retailers. I they show Walmart/Target/TRU a line with Zack Ryder, Alberto Del Rio, Mason Ryan, Gail Kim, Trent Baretta & Alex Riley, they are not going to buy the line. Mattel can do a few new names while filling out the rest of the assortment with established names, B10-12 are perfect examples of this.
Am I sick of all the Cena & Mysterios? Of course, but at the end of the day, it does not do any damage to the line over all. The example of Hart Dynasty & Finlay's not selling well are a perfect example of why they need Cena & Mysterio in every other assortment (altho, the benefit of Mysterio is that atleast he is in diff outfits in every figure).
DH, Kidd & Finlay figures are overproduced. They are not on TV, and in Finlay's case, not even employed. Rhodes & Dibiase are WAY over produced, especially since all their figures are based on their Legacy run, a year and a half ago. These figures are the ones that damage the line, because they sit there forever, and stores need to clearance them out, and then they are more hesitant on taking assortments with guys that dont already sell.

I'm sick of John Cena period. I think we all are. On the other hand he is WWE's biggest cash cow. Literally every little kid I see with a WWE shirt on, I ask them who is their favorite wrestler and they all tell me it's John Cena.  |
