With ROH now being owned by Sinclair Broadcasting and a new, syndicated television deal in the works later this year ("check your local listings", as they say), do you think this improves the chances of ROH figures sometime in the next year or so? And if so, who? Jakks and Mattel are obviously out of the mix and Playmates is doubtful since the Lucha Libre USA line seemingly went nowhere.
Thoughts or suggestions?
Thanks- MSF

I would give it between 0 and 1%. I'm leaning more towards 0%.

Yeah, 0% sounds about right. Just wanted to make sure that I wasn't alone in having that train of thought!

ROH's core fanbase is not children.

I would love for them to make figures but its not going to happen. hell ROH is getting a tv deal but its not even going to be aired here. I swear they had better distribution on HDnet

I hope and pray that I'm able to get this new channel they're on. Now, onto the figures..
I would say there's a small possibility. There's dozens of toy companies out there that would love to produce these figures, even just at places like Dollar General, Walgreen's, Family Dollar, etc. Look at ECW. Their audience NEVER consisted of children, yet they were able to have a few waves of figures released. Also, TNA got a deal when they first got on Spike. So, the possibility is there. I would suspect a smaller company to take an ROH figure deal, IF it were to happen. Now notice, I said IF. Honestly, IMO, I don't see them getting a figure deal within the next year. Maybe within the next 2-3 years, if they're successful enough, but not within the next year.

It could happen if they get that TV deal and start growing and captivating there audience more. I bet ya Toy Biz would make there figures then. Toy Biz took on WCW when Jakks WWE was getting big, Toy Biz then took on TNA Figs when Impact first started circulating on TV, and they actually did a pretty nice job on those TNA figs too. But yeah, if they get popular i look for Toy Biz too do it.

Sorry. Simple logic. TNA has been around for several years on national television. They still can't get their figures to sell and they actually runs ads for the figures during their shows.
ROH is not known to the casual fan at all. From the looks of that list of TV stations, they will be hitting about 1/3 of the country. I sincerely doubt that, in this economy, any company would risk producing action figures for them until they at least get max penetration. (I.E. a national TV outlet)
Also, every time I think of Ring of Honor, absolutely every single time, the first name that comes to mind is Rob Feinstein. I will not elaborate here, but, somehow, the idea of Ring of Honor producing action figures is very disturbing to me.

If Lucha Libre USA could get a line of figures, I feel like ROH could in 2012.

If Lucha Libre USA could get a line of figures, I feel like ROH could in 2012. And the line failed. But you never know, OSFTM took a chance with the ECW line after they lost WCW license.....
