Hey guys, first post ;D
I was hoping to get into wrestling animation, as i did a few with my old Jakks figures, but unfortunately some of my new Mattel figs aren't as articulated as I may like.
The main problems I've got -
1. Elite Triple H (Best of 2010) won't bend upper leg joint (near hip) forward on either leg. (Basically, it's very stiff, and 'rebounds' back to being straight when I release, so a no-no for anis)
2. Elite CM Punk (Series 4 I think) has the same problem as Triple H (a little better as it can bend out, but still not forward, and same rebound as Triple H figure)
I know this is a fault of some sort, as I have other Elites that bend their legs fine.
Is there anyway I can fix this? Or will I have to buy those figs again, and hope I don't get the same problem?
ALSO NOTE - It's kind of ok for me to buy them again, as I'm going to a specialist fig shop in a few days and I've got a part-time job so I'm earning money, but I'd really rather not so I can save more money; and I'd hate to have the same problem

It's a problem with alot of Elite figs. Put them in hot water for about a minute, and then work the joint. Should loosen it up. If it tightens back up, just repeat the process.
I had the same problem with my Elite 3 Miz, Elite 3 Christian, L3 Mr. Perfect, and a few others, and all are fine now.

Same here. The loose feet bother me and some of the earlier pointy boots as well.

Just a little advice from a fellow animator here:
The hot water method doesn't really work at all. I can have a figure soaking in boiling hot water for 5 minutes, pull it out, and go like "oh wow! that actually worked, look how loose this figure is!" Then after a few minutes the figure dries and cools off, then it becomes stiff again.....aaannddd... were back to where we started. Same thing with the blow dryer. And if you have a loose problem (like with feet or a hip) DO NOT PUT IT IN THE FREEZER! Because after it defrosts it's the same again, but only this time, it's wet. Krazy glue is risky. I don't really think there is a good solution for this. Mattel is getting better with this however. Just try to work the joints. That's the only real good solution out there tbh.

Hot water does not always work. This is basically the ball joints are too big and restrict movement. Water trick can fix this. Best fix is to work the joint I mean sit their for hours moving the leg into positions you can to grind down the ball joint and make it loose. Loose joints just ing suck. Nothing you can do about them really.

I took the hot water advice but put the leg joint under a tap running hot water. Only needed to hold it there for about a minute to see major improvement. Bent their legs into the position I wanted the legs to be able to bend to and voila! Six hours later got the 'click' locking I wanted. Trips and CM Punk legs now articulate as well as the rest of my elites! Thanks for all the help guys, you saved me $60 AUD!

I'm a fellow animator myself just like my buddy JWS ^. We animate all the time so we are aware of the joint problem too. A lot of the early Elites have this problem and it is very aggravating when their leg joints don't move. I've tried the hot water and everything too and it honestly doesn't work. However, a lot of the new Elites are fixed so you may want to go back and purchase newer versions of the guys you want to use. Mattel has been a lot better with the problems lately. Sometimes their arms are too stiff, making it hard to animate, but at least the legs are better. Just gotta hope you get a good one really! Good luck!
