I was at the San Diego Comic Con for the 9th year in a row and here are some tidbits related to Mattel.
1. Make sure to vote on Matty Collectors website for your top 5 Legends choices which will be available for sale on-line. Andre the Giant will be the initial release. The other five will be fan picked. As of right now the top two vote getters are Miss Elizabeth (no surprise) and Demolition Crush. Keep voting. Once the figures are available make sure to buy them because if they do well we will get many more Legends, otherwise we will only get them inserted into the Elites and not have the dedicated Legends line.
2. The Rockers 2 pack shown at the Con last year will also be a Matty Collector release. Future 2 packs being made available all depends on the Rockers selling well. So if you want more 2 packs of Legends please buy those. The Hart Foundation is on tap as is Savage & Liz if the Rockers do well.
3. I asked about getting Adrian Adonis and Dino Bravo in the Legends line. They would like to do Adonis if the line continues although there are no concrete plans. Bravo seems unlikely due to the circumstances surrounding his death.
4. WWE has not as of yet told Mattel to halt production on Sin Cara despite his current status. So for now we will still get a Sin Cara figure.
5. They had the Gobbedly Gooker figure on display just to gage interest. Right now it is about 50/50. I personally told them I hated the character, but it would be kind of cool for nostalgia sake.
I think everything else was covered here on the site regarding the great panel with CM Punk's appearance and photos of the upcoming figures in the line. While at the Con I met Cody Rhodes, Alicia Fox, Kurt Angle, and David Lagana (former WWE writer and current Podcast host). It was a good time.

Glad Liz is in the top 2 vote getters. I hope she gets a spot.
And I hope Rockers does great. Love that Hart Foundation is on tap, same for Savage and Liz! I would def. buy Savage and Liz.
Thanks for the info. Any info on the Basic 13/14 status? Didn't know if maybe they mentioned it and you forgot. Never hurts to check, right?
Thanks!

YES, this was what I was talking about that 120+ SDCC page and nobody saw it so here's what I said. So I'm very interest your stories if you got'em! Yo Vinman, can you tell Me how your experience was with Angle & Rhodes & Fox in detail? Anything else go on there? Thanks in advance!

Hey VinMan thanks for the insight into SDCC, I'm surprised it's taking RSC this long to put up the Q&A that apparently only has 6 questions anyways...
Never-the-less it's absolutely dis-heartening to hear Liz & Crush are the top two vote-getters. After August 8th I'm sure Doink and Savio Vega will join that motley crew too. Sorry, nothing against Liz, but she's not a wrestler and as your own notes identified, if the Rockers do well (and they will) then Macho/Liz is in the pipeline, so WHY do we need her on single card release? As for Demo Crush - great news for Mattel - no new tooling/molds required - sucks for collectors wanting new & different figures.
I realize Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard, Barry Windham, and even Don Muraco are not flashy top-sellers, but that's why Legends are now online-exclusives. It's a collector's line and I feel old-school wrestling fans would appreciate a Steve Kern over a Doink the F'N Clown any day...

How exactly would you have any idea who the top vote getters are? They don't show the results after you vote and the little poll here on WFigs is certainly no indication (and if it was then DDP would be the top vote getter)

I voted for Crush, who I thought was awesome when I was a kid, although I think a Kona Crush or 94ish heel Crush would be better, I still think Brian Adams is a Legend and deserves a figure, which I would buy. I'm not going to say he deserves it over wrestler x or whatever but I think he deserves a figure imo, especially if he is getting the votes.
Elizabeth is my most wanted from that entire list of Legends, albeit to display with my Macho Man. However, I would agree that if she is in a two pack with Macho Man I don't think she needs a singles release. I like Elizabeth I think she is super important to wrestling history, but I don't think she needs 2 figures before Bobby the Brain gets at least 1. Maybe her getting lots of votes will mean that they do go ahead with the Macho 2 pack as opposed to just making a singles Elizabeth. I have no doubt that Rockers set will sell well, I know I'll be buying it.
Sin Cara will fly off the shelves, no reason to stop production. WWE will bring him back and he will be right where he left off, similar to Rey's suspension. Didn't they say he was going in a 2-pack though, I'll be interested to see who they pair him with since he hasn't really had a feud outside of with Chavo who is now gone.

It's a collector's line and I feel old-school wrestling fans would appreciate a Steve Kern over a Doink the F'N Clown any day... Maybe if he was dressed as Skinner, but even then, not really. You have to look at people's ages: How many 50 year olds are really going to buy wrestling toys now? Enough to even make an online exclusive limited run profitable? There are a lot more toy-buying nerds in their 20s and 30s than in their 50s. Plus key colourful characters from global wrestling companies (ie late 80s-current WWF/WWE, 90s WCW) are always going to be more popular than random territorial guys with generic looks. Even when they're only selling something online, it has to appeal to more than just the four old guys who love 1970s Florida wrestling and action figures. And FYI - it's Steve Keirn. A guy so popular that even guys who want his figure made can't remember his name right.

Crush winning? Dang, figures Magum TA or DDP would be in second with Elizabeth. Not cool.

Very Well Put pc83uk, Maybe why Mattel Didn't get it , Most 50 year olds i know, even if they are nerdy just wont buy toys. Fans in their 20's and 30's Would be the Market they should have went for..... therefore go back 10-15 , 20-25 years for the main marketable wrestlers 85-93 , 94-2000..... Im Sure Terry Funk and Kevin Von Erich Were Very Influential in their Hayday but they should have Been marketing HBK , Undertaker and Andre the Giant first and Foremost..... Why Andre is an Exclusive in limited numbers is beyond me , And Razor Ramone was in a Bunch of Snes - Genesis WWF Games...... Why Didnt they Capitalize on the Popularity of these guys who Headlined Every Game-PPV-Raw?
Im Hoping The Flashback Part of The Elite Series is a Fresh Wake up to Mattel, and I hope im wrong but i dont think the exclusives they make will be profitable enough to warrant a second year.... So Im Really Hoping all goes well

YeahBaby!432 - who asked about Basic 13 and 14 I don't know who is in those. I only know what they showed of basic at the show which was posted in the photos from the Con which included guys like Alex Riley, Cody Rhodes with his mask, Sin Cara prototype etc. Not sure which series these are in.
Bandalero - you said you were not happy with Elizabeth and Crush being the top two, this is why they are having a vote. I believe you can vote as many times as you want or at least once a day, so just keep voting.
Boy Wonder - I was talking to Bill at Mattel who works on the WWE line at the Mattel both and talked to him aout the legends and because I personally voted for Liz (my personal favorite femafe in the history of wrestling) and Demolition Crush (to complete Demolition), he told me they were the top two at the moment. On a side note I also voted for Don Muraco (hoping to get a Magnificent heel version as opposed to Jakks babyface version), Savio Vega (since we haven't seen him since bone crunching days), and Tito Santana.
Brandon the Matty Guy - I enjoyed meeting Kurt Angle. Had been wanting to meet him since his WWE days. They don't let you spend much time in the autograph lines cause they try to get a lot of people through, but he was friendly. I had him sign my WrestleMania Anthology box, which btw is pretty full now. I took a photo with him and was on my way. Rhodes and Fox signed at the Mattel booth and also were very friendly. Again had them sign my Anthology and took a quick photo. Rhodes had one of his guys hand out the paper bags before he sat down. Mattel also gave out t-shirts, looks like they were leftovers that nobody wants like R-Truth and NXT. I was at the Mattel/WWE panel as well and CM Punk's entrance was phenomenal and super exciting. The microphone was set up right behind where I was sitting to I got to see Punk up close and it was awesome.

And FYI - it's Steve Keirn. A guy so popular that even guys who want his figure made can't remember his name right. Dude no need to be so cynical, it was obviously a typo - I know it's Steve Keirn - give an old guy (33) a break =P And no I don't want his figure - even though he had awesome matches against Al Perez. You guys are missing the point. If there's a market for Doink, Savio Vega, and Crush - then by all means release them in every 2 spots per Elite series that comes out REGULARLY. Legends are being released 1 every other month - I don't want Doink the F'N Clown taking up a vital spot - That's 4 months waiting for the next Legend... VinMan: I'm voting every day, but buddy believe me that poll will be rigged. If it was such a transparent process why can't they show the results live?

Everyone likes diff stuff we gotta respect that I don't know how I could be clearer with this. I agree that we all have different tastes, believe me I'm not a 70s wrestling die-hard or anything, I too enjoyed the colourful gimmicks of the early 90s, but in regards to Mattel's plan: 2 Legends/Flashbacks/Whatever you want to call them will be included in the Elite series. The Elite series has a more frequent release schedule and it's released to mass retail. I get that characters like Doink are colourful and attractive to kids - so by all means put him in as a Flashback. As for the Legends released via Mattycollector in 2012 - it's a grand total of six per year!!! And Andre already takes up one of those slots. So yes Arn Anderson and Magnum TA might be plain to 20 year olds, but this is probably the only avenue we have of getting those plain guys... I'm actually trying to find a compromise.

while it would be cool to own a Gobbledy Gooker just because its kind of funny, I would much rather someone with actual historical significance IN the ring, so I wouldn't mind if that didn't come out

I think that Mattel should consider upping the release of these figures to two every other month, or one every single month.

Further evidence for why fans should never be allowed to vote. They screwed up Star Wars polls, Marvel polls, and now wrestling. Also the positive reaction to Gooker on preview night made me throw up in my mouth.
