Cost increases which means they could either lose detail and keep the stands or vice versa.

Mattel said that they could either remove the stands OR they would have to raise prices.
So, they removed the stands and prices got raised anyway. Every retail store is currently selling Mattel WWE figures for a higher price than when they came out in 2010 WITH the stands.
So essentially, we got screwed. We are paying more now for figures WITHOUT the stands than we were paying when the figures HAD the stands!
And don't say it's the stores making the decisions. Mattel is selling Basics for $10.99 and Elites for $15.99.....that's a dollar more than when the line started and we don't get the stands anymore! TRU is selling Basics for $11.99 and Elites for $16.99 which is two dollars more than when the line launched in 2010. TRU has independently decided to set their own price, but Mattel has also raised their prices, it's just not as high as TRU.....YET!
This was never explained to us as a "costs went up so we have to lose the stands to keep the detail", Mattel said that IF they removed the stands that prices would stay the same. That was their promise to us.....and they didn't live up to it.

No, what Mattel said was that the Production cost would stay the same not the retail price. To keep the production costs what they were they said they could either drop details or drop the bases. They felt that dropping the bases was the better idea.
