Hey everyone. Some of the older members here might remember me from a while back, I think its been a good 3 years since my last post.
With Mattel taking over Jakks I took the opportunity to give up collecting. I had spent thousands of £££ on Jakks figures I was not willing to start over with Mattel.(I had been collcecting Jakks since the Bone Crunching Action days and before that Hasbro. I'm 23 btw lol) My interest in wrestling in general had faded due to the PG era as well and it just was not the same anymore for me. So with Jakks gone and WWE at a low point(IMO) I put my hobbie to rest.
So thats my background... now into my post.
In short the WWE has grabbed my attention again thanks to The Rock being involved again(my all time fav wrestler) and this CM Punk angle is the best thing thats happend to wrestling since the WCW Invasion angle(IMO). All this has sparked my interest and I have found myself watching once in and while and starting to buy Mattel's excellent figures. I would of loved detailed figures like this when I was younger and would of loved Jakks to of done the same in the days that I loved collecting. I cant say enough good things about Mattel and the figures they are making right now.
One thing I have noted since looking back here once in a while is that the Legend line is not doing aswell as they had hoped. I was a massive collector of Jakks Classic line and I think its all down to its been all been done before? Dont you think? I love how Mattel managed to get Macho man and steamboat but apart from that Jakks done it before them and its nothing new. IMO Mattel should give it up and concentrate on their excellent Elite line and Basic line. The great thing about Jakks Classic line was that we got guys like Papa Shango and it was their first figure since the Hasbro days but now Mattel is making them... its there first figure since Jakks a couple years ago? Since getting back into collcting i'm not going to shell out on a new Papa Shango figure when i've alread spent money on a Jakks one a year ago. Anyway thats my thoughts on the matter. People might think a little diff but it coule be the same reason they are not selling too well.
Sorry if its a long read. I will be back to post now and then because I am slowly getting back into buying the figures. I love the new guys like Shamus and Alberto Del Rio.
Keep up the good job Mattel... you are slowly roping me back in!
