The Ultimate Fighting Championship will reportedly return to Toronto for a second time in 2011.
Citing UFC Chairman and CEO Lorenzo Fertitta, ESPN.com Tuesday reported that UFC 140 will go down Dec. 10 at Toronto’s Air Canada Centre. No bouts have been announced for the event.
In May, UFC Canada Director of Operations Tom Wright stated that Montreal’s Bell Centre could play host to the Dec. 10 event. The reason behind the venue change is currently unknown.
MMA was legalized in Ontario in August 2010, and the UFC made its inaugural trip to the Canadian province in April. In the UFC 129 headliner, welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre defended his belt against Jake Shields at Rogers Centre in Toronto. That event set promotional and North American MMA records for the attendance and live gate, netting 55,724 spectators for a total of nearly $12.1 million.
UFC 140 will not match those numbers, as the Air Canada Centre holds less than 20,000 spectators for basketball and ice hockey. Opened in 1999, the venue is home to both the NHL’s Toronto Maple Leafs and the NBA’s Toronto Raptors.
I was there at UFC #129 and I'm sure I'll be goin' again!! Really excited. Can't wait!! I'm sure it'll be another sell-out. No question about it.

Between the last UFC event up there and the shows on HD.Net, I have to say Canada has some great MMA fans. I enjoy a good ground battle as well as stand up, so it's nice to not have to hear "STAND THEM UP" and "BOOOOOOOO" after they've been on the ground for a few seconds.

Wonder what's going to headline. Machida/Henderson(if they sign Henderson to the UFC)?
Unless a champion or challenger want to make a quick turn around I can't see a title match headlining the card because 134, 135, UFC on VS 6, 136 is rumored to have 2, 137, and 139(Cain/Dos Santos) all have title fights at least rumored if not confirmed.
Anderson Silva if he gets through the Okami fight with a win and injury free could make the turn around but Sonnen/Stann won't be until October so they'd have to make the turn around. The Winner of Jones/Rampage vs. Rashad/Tito could also make the turn around if nobody gets hurt. Who knows.

Considering the first one sold nearly 35000-40,000 within minutes, I can't imagine how fast this one will sell with about 20,000 seats.
If there's any title fight on the card, my guess would be the Light Heavyweight Title.

That's cool to hear, and I imagine it will set records again, despite the difference in seats...I'd like to see a title fight on it, perhaps the LHW as well.

Glad I checked, I was going to make a thread on the Nogueira vs. Mir fight.
A fight I really don't care to see.

I don't mind Mir/Nog too much, would like Big Nog to avenge that loss.
Plus I'm happy Big Nog is getting to fight in Canada since he said the two places he'd like to fight in was Canada and Japan again.
