TNA Xplosion Taping: Saturday 10th January 2004
The Naturals def. Dirty Money and Justin Kage
Sonny Siaki def. Spyder Nate Webb
The Masked X def. Shark Boy
Kid Kash def. Matt Sydal
The opening video package for NWA:TNA aired
, showcasing a brief outline of National Wrestling Alliance's impact on the history of professional wrestling, before showcasing some of TNA's best talents in action. We then cut to the live TNA Asylum where Mike Tenay and Don West were seated at ringside, and they welcomed us to a fresh year for Total Non-Stop Action Wrestling, live on pay-per-view! They discussed how NWA:TNA was going to be at its very best in 2004, and how it was a heated 2003 indeed. They then ran down the card, frontlined by the massive Ultimate X II match for the TNA X-Division Championship!
The theme of the NWA Heavyweight Champion hit as the egotistical top dog in TNA Wrestling made his way out to the ring accompanied by Don Callis and the Red Shirt Security. Jeff Jarrett climbed into the ring, a guitar in hand, as Jarrett discussed how he did not have a fantastic holiday this year. He calls it unfair that he has so many rivals, simply because he is better than every one of the guys in the backstage area. And then the joker, the Director of Authority, Erik Watts puts him in an impromptu match with Sting? He's not here to wrestle someone from yesteryear, he's the NWA Heavyweight Champion! He talks about how he knows Sting isn't here tonight, but he knows he'll be here next Wednesday night, and that's when he calls him out to the ring! Don Callis then takes the microphone, ordering that every member of the TNA roster to come to the ring. The crowd booed as this alliance's ego thickened. The entire roster came to ringside and surrounded the ring, as the Management Consultant, Don Callis talked about their rivals as of late. He states how he called every star, heavyweight, X-Division star, tag team, road agent and referee out here now to discuss a new policy they have. He mentions the Open Door Policy TNA has ran for the past year, but talks about how there is a policy: with Jeff Jarrett or against him. He talks about how it'd be wiser to join them, but if they don't want to, they get kicked to the curb! Callis mentions how easy it is, you can sign up simply by signing his petition! Suddenly, Sonjay Dutt stepped into the ring, the crowd booing at the sign that Dutt may be turning his back on the fans for a supposed 'greater good'! Dutt talked about how he seems intrigued by this concept. But he questions one thing: the great fans and talent in the Asylum and around this ring? Or joining a bunch of bungholes like what he sees before him! Jarrett kicked Dutt in the ribs, the champ planting the guitar right over the head of the X-Division star! The crowd booed as Jarrett asked if this situation was clear. Callis stood over Dutt and told him never to get in their way again. Because he's going to be punished for that; tonight, Jarrett will take on Sonjay Dutt and wipe the floor with him! The crowd booed as the TNA roster began to leave in shock.
The official release of the 3Live Kru's new song aired, showing a video of the Kru in the ring. The song is called "Beware (The Remix)" and is available now via nwatna.com!
Jeremy Borash was standing by in the back with Chris Sabin as "The Future" was asked about tonight's Ultimate X match. Sabin talked about his bad luck in Ultimate X following the original, where Michael Shane cheated to win the TNA X-Division Championship from him, and proceeded to cheat in any way possible following that match as well. Sabin thanked Erik Watts for making this, then mentioning Low-Ki as being an outstanding talent. He mentions that he's not letting him, Christopher Daniels or Shane getting in the way of regaining HIS title.
1. America's Most Wanted def. The Red Shirt Security (w/Kevin Northcutt) by disqualification @ 7:35
A solid opening contest to Total Non-Stop Action this week, as Chris Harris and James Storm defeating Glenn Gilbertti and David Young in a Street Fight three weeks ago on this pay-per-view just to get attacked by the Red Shirt Security, and Joe E. Legend and Ryan Wilson took it to James Storm in the opening moments. Legend wore down Storm with several hard-hitting moves, a chokebomb almost putting Storm away, but Wilson tried a gorilla press shoulderbreaker just for Storm to avoid it, and get the tag to "Wildcat" Chris Harris! Harris took down by Red Shirts before taking Kevin Northcutt off of the apron with the Spear! Harris attempted the Catatonic on Wilson, but Legend slid into the ring with a steel chair, taking out Harris!

Joe E. Legend slammed Chris Harris in the head with the steel chair as Kevin Northcutt grabbed one of his own, the Red Shirt Security beating up on "Wildcat" Chris Harris! James Storm soon shot into the ring, wielding a baseball bat, and the Red Shirt trio began to leave, Storm making the save for his AMW partner.
We went to an office in the back, as Jeff Jarrett was shown talking to Kid Kash. The NWA Heavyweight Champion held his clipboard as he told Kash that he wanted him to gain the petitions of loyalty for him. He's gonna be busy wiping the floor with Sonjay Dutt, and he knows that he can count on Kash to get the TNA stars' signatures. Kash told Jarrett that he would get right on it, as Jarrett left.
A video package aired, as it hyped up the TNA Babe of the Year 2003 award, the winner being Trinity. Trinity's year was shown in highlights as she was then shown with Scott Hudson in the back, Trinity holding a plaque to showcase her award winning. She talked about how she got to work with some of the best, and she fought several men and got the better of them in 2003, then mentioning that she hopes to face more men in 2004. Sonny Siaki then cut her off, as the jealous "Samoan Stallion" told Trinity to come with him, because perverts like Scott Hudson didn't deserve to see his property!
CM Punk and Julio Dinero made their way out to the ring, the crowd booing as the former Gathering members made their way out to the ring, the last time we saw these two was when they stabbed Raven in the back three weeks ago on pay-per-view. Punk talked about how he loves how nobody saw it coming. After all of those months of taking abuse because of Raven, their supposed 'leader of the pack', they stabbed him in the back, and why? Because he was the cancer in their stomachs! Dinero mentions that they took brutal punishings from the New Church to save Raven's ass, and because they were associating with Raven. And they were sick of it. So the brightest idea they had was to leave him, and hopefully put him out of action in NWA:TNA indefinitely! Punk then introduces someone that will add to Raven's suffering, the man that convinced them to do this; the devil himself, Father James Mitchell! Punk and Dinero were joined by the devil in red as Mitchell talked about how he knows that he got the beating of his life thanks to Raven two months ago, but he's seen light of day; the New Church failed, and so comes a new dawn: CM Punk and Julio Dinero, the two men that wiped TNA clean from the scum known as Raven! Mitchell tells the production team to bring out their victims for tonight.
2. CM Punk and Julio Dinero (w/Father James Mitchell) def. Juventud Guerrera and Mr Aguila @ 8:17
It was a pleasant surprise to see Juventud Guerrera back in TNA Wrestling, as his last appearance had him reach the finals of the 2003 Super X Cup. Juvi wasn't alone either, bringing his associate, former WWE Light Heavyweight Champion, Mr Aguila with him. Aguila flew around the ring with Julio Dinero, Dinero being caught off guard by Aguila's antics, as Aguila used countless lucha-libre influenced sequences to confuse Dinero. CM Punk got the better of him though, wearing Aguila down and slowing the pace of the match down as well. The "Straight Edge Assassin" with a swinging neckbreaker as well as several forearms to the heart, Punk then signalling for the Pepsi Plunge! Aguila slipped out and in came Juvi, Juventud Guerrera and Punk exchanging high-flying offence, Juvi almost ending it when Punk's tilt-a-whirl backbreaker was turned into a Juvi Driver attempt, Punk sliding out and tagging in Dinero. Dinero took Guerrera's head off with the tornado DDT out of nowhere! Punk and Dinero delivered a powerbomb-top rope neckbreaker move known as the 'Near Death Experience' on Guerrera for the win.

CM Punk and Julio Dinero celebrated their win to loud boos as Father James Mitchell joined them in the ring, raising their hands victorious.
Kid Kash was shown in the back, talking to Abyss, as Kash talked about how him and the "Monster" have never seen eye to eye, particularly when Abyss kicked the "Notorious K.I.D"s ass a few months ago, but this is out of best interest, because this way, the Coalition will be stronger, and if he isn't in it, they would wipe him out. Abyss glared at Kash before picking up the clipboard and signing it, then tossing it back at Kash; Abyss leaving. Kash had picked up Abyss for Jarrett and Don Callis!
Erik Watts was shown arriving at the Asylum with Goldylocks, Goldylocks asking Watts about how that meeting had anything to do with TNA Wrestling. It was all about money, money out of her pocket. Watts talked about how important it was; he wants Don Callis out as Management Consultant, and he was talking about how much money Panda Energy would save. It's just a matter of time to see what they say. Goldylocks didn't seem interested as they headed for the Asylum.
3. Jeff Jarrett def. Sonjay Dutt in a non-title match @ 10:23
Jeff Jarrett was not expecting this one, as the egotistical NWA Heavyweight Champion took on X-Division sensation, Sonjay Dutt in a clash of styles. Jarrett thought that he had Dutt done for easily, after clobbering him with the guitar earlier tonight, but sadly for Jarrett, it was not the case. Dutt was slow to start as Jarrett tried to keep things that way, but Dutt started flying, Jarrett sending Dutt into the ropes and Dutt rebounding with a springboard crossbody! Dutt followed with several hurricanranas as well as a standing moonsault, the NWA Heavyweight Champion having to recruit to ringside on two occasions. The second, Dutt was too wise to Jarrett's antics, Dutt with a Hindu Press over the top rope onto Jarrett! Dutt was pulling out all of the stops, and it was all to try and leave his mark in the biggest man the company has to offer! Dutt sent Jarrett back to the ring where he tried a 450 splash, Jarrett rolling out of the way, then taking his head off with a clothesline. Jarrett wore Dutt down with a sleeper hold, the crowd booing as Dutt flipped out of it using the turnbuckle, Dutt with a rolling clutch cover for a near fall. Jarrett met Dutt on the way back though, knee to the ribs of Sonjay as the "Guru" tried another springboard crossbody. Jarrett quickly put Dutt away with the Stroke for the win.

Jeff Jarrett celebrated his win as the crowd booed, these TNA fans not happy, but giving it up for Sonjay Dutt for his hard efforts to keep up with the NWA Heavyweight Championship. Jarrett celebrated with the title as Glenn Gilbertti came down to ringside, Gilbertti with a guitar in hand, and Glenn handed it to Jarrett, Jarrett preparing a second guitar shot to the courageous "Guru" in under an hour! But AJ Styles hit the ring, the "Phenomenal" AJ Styles taking out Jarrett with a flying forearm, then nailing a big back body drop sending Gilbertti out of the ring! Jarrett and Gilbertti backed off as AJ aided to Dutt.
Terry Taylor was shown standing by in the back with Low-Ki, as Taylor asked for Low-Ki's thoughts prior to Ultimate X II tonight. Low-Ki talked about how he's wrestled all over the world, but one of the hardest things he's done throughout his career is defend that TNA X-Division Championship on a weekly basis. Ki talked about some of his hardest triumphs in Japan, Mexico, everywhere. But tonight, he didn't care what Chris Sabin, or Michael Shane and the New Franchise had in mind, because he was leaving Nashville tonight as champion. Elix Skipper then arrived on the scene, taking interest in how Ki didn't mention Christopher Daniels. Skipper cites a Triple X reunion of sorts, but Ki shakes his head and walks off.
A video package entitled 'TNA: On The Map' aired, as it showcased several TNA stars such as David Young and Michael Shane working in AAA in Mexico, whilst Kid Kash, Jeff Jarrett and Abyss were all shown competing for IWA: Puerto Rico.
A replay of what happened six weeks ago aired, as 3Live Kru managed to win the NWA World Tag Team Championships in an eight-team gauntlet, outlasting former champions, Simon Diamond and Johnny Swinger. Three weeks ago on this show, it was Diamond and Swinger who were granted a dream match of their choosing, if they defeated AJ Styles and D-Lo Brown. They managed to, and immediately chose to go for the rematch with 3Live Kru to reclaim their titles.
4. 3Live Kru (w/Konnan) def. Simon Diamond and Johnny Swinger to retain the NWA World Tag Team Champions @ 12:27
Ron Killings and BG James took this one as Konnan scouted the 3Live Kru from ringside, and the NWA World Tag Team Champions had to be pleased with how tonight went, their new single debuting tonight live on pay-per-view, and now pleasing the fans in this hard-fought match with the former champions, Simon Diamond and Johnny Swinger. Swinger tried to clobber away at the "Truth", but Killings came out of nowhere with a corkscrew crossbody on Swinger and took him right out of the ball game. BG James used his unorthodox style, pounding at Swinger in the corner, and the 3LK had definitely switched the roles and grounded Swinger. Diamond soon got the tag, as the challengers worked away at BG, beating up on the former WWE superstar in the corner. James soon fired back though, a clothesline on both Diamond and Swinger, Ron "The Truth" Killings firing back from all angles, laying out Diamond and setting up Swinger for the Scissors Kick, but Swinger dodged it, Killings instead giving Swinger the Consequences for the win!
**
3Live Kru celebrated their win as Simon Diamond and Johnny Swinger rolled out of the ring, Konnan, Ron Killings and BG James celebrating with the NWA World Tag Team Championships whilst Diamond and Swinger looked annoyed, storming for the back!
Erik Watts was shown with Goldylocks in the corridor as they continued to discuss the situation with Don Callis and how the board of directors have taken it up to the fed heads about Callis' demise from Management Consultant. Goldylocks didn't look the slightest interested, as she asked Watts if he would buy her a new necklace. Watts asked what was wrong with her current one, as Goldylocks doesn't know. Kid Kash suddenly walked past, Watts grabbing the clipboard in the hands of the "Notorious K.I.D", as Watts asked Kash what he was doing. He glanced it over and told Kash that he's not interested because he isn't loyal to Callis or Jeff Jarrett whatsoever, but he does have a proposal, that being him meeting Don Callis in the ring next week to talk over their little situation they have with power clashing. Kash tells Watts to choose his words correctly, because if anything, Watts won't be with this company as the Director of Authority for long!
Christopher Daniels was standing by with Scott Hudson as the "Fallen Angel" was asked by Hudson about tonight's Ultimate X II match in several minutes. Daniels states that he believes in the Prophecy, and that Prophecy is that tonight, lady luck will not shine on Michael Shane. And he guarantees victory tonight. Why? Because after all, he is the "Fallen Angel". He talks about how superior he is to all three men in that match tonight, and speaks of how he knows the sacrifices he will have to go through to get that TNA X-Division Championship from the grasp of God's ropes. Elix Skipper then came onto the scene again, Skipper asking Daniels about a potential Triple X reunion. Daniels cuts him down, telling him that once he wins that title tonight, he won't need a Triple X anymore!
Jeff Jarrett was shown in the backstage area as the NWA Heavyweight Champion talked to the Red Shirt Security about how he couldn't believe what happened out there. He tells them that he is sick of AJ Styles getting in the way of everything he does. He talks about how next week, he can bring Sonjay Dutt, and Jarrett can bring Glenn Gilbertti, and we'll see who will come out on top when it's all said and done with. He then says how Sting can wait, or show up. He'll handle both situations at the same time! Erik Watts must pay for his deeds.
Mike Tenay and Don West run a Tale of the Tape, as it runs down the events leading to Ultimate X II, Michael Shane winning his TNA X-Division Championship in the original on August 20, 2003. He then joined the New Franchise and has cheated several times to retain the title against guys like Christopher Daniels, Low-Ki and Chris Sabin. Three weeks ago, Erik Watts made Ultimate X II containing the four for the gold tonight. They then talked about what we could expect next week on Total Non-Stop Action Wrestling, as Jeff Jarrett and Glenn Gilbertti face AJ Styles and Sonjay Dutt; plus, Jarrett will confront Sting!; Don Callis and Erik Watts will face off in the ring; 3Live Kru will take on CM Punk and Julio Dinero in non-title action; We will hopefully here from the inactive Raven; And we will find out who joined Jarrett and Callis' Coalition! All next Wednesday night on pay-per-view.
5. Christopher Daniels def. Chris Sabin, Low-Ki & Michael Shane in Ultimate X II to win the TNA X-Division Championship @ 18:59
The final battle of the night, and what a contest it was, as the "Fallen Angel", the "Future", the TNA X-Division Champion and Low-Ki fought in Ultimate X II, the four men fighting it out altogether as the bell sounded, Sabin sending Shane out of the match with an enziguiri; Shane seemingly spending a lot of the rest of this match at ringside on the floor. Daniels and Low-Ki seemingly teamed up against Sabin as this seemed like another thread to the fire of a Triple X reunion. The "Fallen Angel" was soon cut short however as Daniels gave Sabin a brainbuster, Low-Ki kicking Daniels right in the head! Low-Ki tried to make the climb up the structure, but Shane took him right out with a steel chair shot! Shane wanted his title so badly, as Shane started climbing, but Daniels got up and nailed the Angel's Wings off of the top rope on Shane! All four men attempted to get the hanging title from the middle of the X-shaped cables as Daniels was up at one point opposing Low-Ki, Ki with several stiff kicks to Daniels' side and chest, the "Fallen Angel" not losing grip! Ki soon had Daniels in the Dragon Clutch, both men hanging from the cable until Daniels lost grip and both Triple X members fell down to the mat! Shane Douglas and Traci then scurried to ringside from the back, the New Franchise with a ladder as they helped Shane up and handed him a ladder! Nobody around to stop it, Shane started climbing the ladder, a shortcut to his title! But Chris Sabin was the opportunistic fighter, a springboard dropkick to the ladder sending Shane out to the floor! Erik Watts then came out with three staff members, the Director of Authority sending Traci and Douglas to the back whilst the staff members removed the ladder! Sabin began to climb the ladder, nearly reaching it until Daniels started climbing, the "Fallen Angel" meeting Sabin right above it on the cables, Daniels sending Sabin right down to the mat! Daniels retrieved the TNA X-Division Championship for the win!
***1/4
Christopher Daniels fell from the cables, landing on his knees whilst clutching the TNA X-Division Championship, and the "Fallen Angel" had done it, winning Ultimate X II tonight in the Asylum! The fans gave it up for the consistent rule-breaker, as Daniels had done it all to get this, winning the title. Michael Shane was still down at ringside as Chris Sabin was down on the canvas; Low-Ki limping out without turning back.
We cut to a video of "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, as Piper asked us if we had forgotten about him. Piper told us that he'd keep it brief, because the fact is he has a lot to say about NWA:TNA next Wednesday night when he will be in Nashville itself! He calls himself the most controversial man in professional wrestling for a reason, because he told Vince Russo what he thought of him; he was there when Andre the Giant turned on Hulk Hogan; And he has done so many things on Piper's Pit, it's hard to remember them all! Piper talks about how he's coming to TNA next Wednesday, and it's not gonna be a pretty sight once he leaves the Asylum next Wednesday! NWA:TNA goes off the air.
