I apologize ahead of time if this topic has been done to death. I'm 23 years old. A long time figure collector. I've been in a long relationship for over 5 years. I have a good job. Just started my Mattel collection this week and don't have anywhere to display them yet. Sure enough I found myself fooling around and playing with them again like I did 10 years ago. Does anyone else my age do this? I dont have any arenas or rings but theres just something fun about re-creating matches or making new ones with figures. Its relaxing mindless fun. I know that a lot of collectors get a bad rap as being "nerds who live in their parents basement" but that couldn't be further from the truth. Nobody knows I fool around with them. I found myself doing it the past couple days to wind down or if I'm watching tv and it's not keeping my attention. Anyone else share this?

You have a nice job, a good relationship, awesome Mattel figures, and a cool Natalya pic in your sig...I think you're doing great!
Don't worry, I find myself playing with my figures lately too. I've been working on my arena for my pic fed and I keep goofing around with my display between test shots. It's fun!

Yeah, I don't display my figures. I play with them all the time. I find it fun. I just recently turned 20 and some people say I'm too old, and that may be true, but dammit it's fun as hell. Especially if I'm using the right people. I don't even have a ring. I just pretend there's a ring and go on with my match. Makes me happy. Keeps me occupied (since I'm unemployed at the moment and don't drive, unfortunately). I love it.
Also, I hate those kids in the WWE figures commercials where they throw them around in the ring and crap like that. I despise that. I properly play with them now. I used to do that when I was like 5 but not till I was about 14 or 15 did I do that anymore. I respect the hell out of all you guys that collect them and display them MOC or not but that's just not for me unless it's a rare/exclusive figure.

I'm 25 and don't really play with my figures anymore like I used to back when I was a kid. They're on display now, however from time to time I'll take a couple and bust out a couple finishers for fun or whatever. I don't have the imagination to put on full matches anymore hah.

I am 19 and play with them. I display them also and make sure it always looks as professional as possible.I have a full blown arena for pic fedding purposes but when it's the right people all hell will break loose lol. It's a ton of fun and from being trained, I make sure the figures take the bump right, the ring sounds right, they go against the ropes right etc. I make it look as realistic as possible even if it's for my own entertainment lol Don't sweat it man I work also, single at the moment but have had a number of relationships. So you're doing good bro.

Life is too freakin' short to worry about what others think. Work and Play (whatever kind of play it is) needs a balance in life.

These kinds of posts are always funny to me. And I just drank a ton of coffee, so here goes...
I'll be 30 this month. I LOVE old cartoons, action figures, toys of all kinds, pro-wrestling, comics, video games, board games, pen-and-paper RPGs, etc.
I'll play with toys when I'm in a mood to. Is it really any different than playing a video game? I'd say it requires a lot more of your imagination (depending on the game). I can't seem to quite get as into it as I could when I was 12ish (as in, can't play for hours on end), but it's still fun.
What kills me about the negative stereotype of anyone who still "likes that crap" after they're an adult is how hypocritical it is. Why should toy-enthusiasts be made to feel like there's something wrong with them if they buy or play with toys? Any of that "kid stuff" that I'm into - how is it any different from what most "mature adults" do with their free time? Would it be better if I spent hours watching NCIS and network prime-time TV? Would it make me more of an adult if I spent all of my toy money on golf clubs or alcohol and cigars? Would I be less of a nerd if I called into the local sports talk radio show and screamed at the top of my lungs because another caller insulted my favorite team? There's absolutely nothing wrong with golf. I love football, MMA, and just about any sport once it gets into the playoffs. There are some decent shows on network TV (none can top Breaking Bad, but that's cable). Point is, it's all harmless entertainment. Unless you spend all of your free time solving real-world problems, researching cancer cures, or creating useful new inventions then you should really keep your mouth shut.
I've been with my wife for 7 and a half years. She talks me into buying more toys than she talks me out of. I'm a full-time IT guy and a freelance web designer and developer. I volunteer as the PR rep / web guy / whatever else for a local contemporary art gallery. My wife and I are both at our ideal weights. I don't say any of this in an attempt to boast or brag about my life - I'm only saying this because the idea that anyone over 14 that buys and/or plays with toys is an 800 lb., virgin, basement-dwelling mouth-breather is one that annoys me intensely. I'll buy (and play with) toys until I go broke, die, or live through a nuclear holocaust that eradicates all toys -- and even then, I'll MAKE some.

I'm just curious, what constitutes playing with you figures? I'm 33. I only started collecting figures earlier this year.
I don't play with them where I'm doing my own commentary and having two figures in either hand go at it. But I do tend to fidget with them while watching tv or on the phone. At work I have a few figures in my cubicle, and when I'm on the phone here I'll often fiddle around with them.

27 in 15 days. I still collect , display and play with wwe figures. I am a married home owner who has worked since he was 16 with only a few weeks worth of gaps in my work history. Playing with my figures doesn't seem to bother my wife or friends. I always have them laying around and will pick them up and do a few moves mid conversation. I also have a ring set up where I do sit down and have "fed" occasionally. I see nothing wrong with this. Even if I lived with mommy and daddy and had no job and was a recluse I would still see nothing wrong with it.

I will say without getting too heavy into the debate I'm way more interested in the Colossal Crashdown Ring right now than I am in the Elite Scale Ring. I dunno what it is, but the setup is pretty neat and I'd say I'd be definitely more apt to mess around with them with a ring like that I could leave in a mess than I am with the scale for whatever reason as long as there are details like the hook for the hanging belt, etc.
So I guess I am thinking more about playing with them than I have in a while!

I'll be 18 in about a month, and if I didn't play with my toys, I wouldn't buy them. I play out matches, have a storyline going, etc. I used to care what other people thought, but I've learned to just do what I like regardless of what people think...it's their insecurities and immaturity that would cause them to make fun of you or look down on you, not anything you're doing, so why should you care?

Hey it could be worse, you could be a creepy diva collector LOL
Seriously though, enjoy your figures the way you like, don't worry about what anyone thinks!

I'm 23 as well and have been in a relationship for two years. My job situation is getting pretty good, but not great. I've been consistently figure fed-ing for almost ten years now. If it doesn't hurt anyone, is perfectly legal, then why the hell should you care if it brings you joy? I literally fall asleep planning my next storylines, ha, so I'm probably worse off than you. Just enjoy yourself man.

I'm 19 and I play... I go all out with arenas, titantrons, crowds and storylines.
It's great to just go into my own little world and do everything I want in terms of wrestling.

I dont have my own figure fed or anything, but I do fiddle around with some figures when I am bored. I am very picky about attires the figures come in because I want them to look like they are in a match which is why I was very disappointed when Jakks made Strike Force with the molded shirt and jacket.

I am 22 and i keep most of the figures i buy in the package and display them. However i will play with my loose figures from time to time. Last week i went to a yard sale and bought a few loose figures and before i knew it i was setting up my real scale ring and i played a make shift raw event.
I don't really care what anyone thinks about me collecting or playing with wrestling figures because i paid for them with my hard earned money and i can do what i want. I just wish i had more time to play with them lol.

I don't know why I am replying, but what the hell. Yes, I play with them regularly. I have my own house, and tons of cash in the bank. I have a masters degree. I dont have a girlfriend, but i get plenty of sex. I also prefer biking to driving, I refuse to grow up and I don't care what anybody thinks. I am very pleased with how things are going.
