I'm a legends collector, or what I call it a wrestling history figure collector.(Lets face it most of these guys are no Legends) I have over 500 wrestling figures, all loose 90% of them legends/classics/hasbros. I love Mattel figures but i'm unsure whether to continue collecting them. I read these boards all the time and Mattels tune is always changing. A few days ago a guy from Mattel said that all the wrestlers in the Matty poll will all be made eventually. Yesterday another guy from Mattel said if the poll winners sell well then they may do it again and scrap some bottom feeders. The guys at Mattel confuse and frustrate me and i'm not sure if i should continue to invest in them if there constantly contradicting themselves. Throw in the new scale figures they want to add and change also, I think i'm done with them. If anyone knows something I don't please convince me to continue to collect.

I never understood anyone who took collecting seriously enough to debate about continuing or stopping. If you like what you see, buy it. If not, don't. What's there to decide on?

Why can people not figure this out.....
Everyone listed in the 17 will be made eventually. We know the top 6. In the next poll people who had low % from the first poll will be excluded. Its called business. With the line "struggling" you're not going to release a figure that isnt in demand. Therefore someone like say Savio Vega WILL BE RELEASED....but it might not be until 2015 when the Legends line has reestablished itself and has a strong financial leg to stand on.

The problem is at this time they just don't know if they will be made as they don't know how well Legends will sell on Matty. If they do well then of course they will want to get everyone out. I just wish they would have a subscription option so they can get a baseline number of buyers who would buy any Legend they put up for sale.
That would probably give them a better idea of the future of Legends on Matty.

Mattel is testing the waters. They may release more if it works well but if it doesn't they will do more polls. It comes down to money and Mattel is going to release what people want. THey put a poll up so people can see what they want and people voted.

They'll only make the figures if it makes business sense to do so.
It's all about the money!

My problem is I don't just buy figures I like and pass on the ones I don't, I buy everything. Example would be the awful looking Legends Snuka figure. I bought him because my Legends collection would be incomplete if I didn't have him. With collecting Mattel figures I got my feet wet but haven't jumped in yet. So at this point I could stop before i get out of control again like i did with the classics. lol

I understand mattel frustration, they pick a piss poor lot of characters, let us vote as many times as possible but tell us we can only vote once per day, then tell us if the line is not successful we won't see anymore installments in the future.
Ya I can get how u might be frustrated and think about quitting now, I will stick it out till the end with legends cuz I'm already commited , I just hope we get earthquake, gonzalez and hercules b4 its over. Hopefully warlord and barbarian too

I've battled it for a LONG time but once u get over completists syndrome you will be a much happier collector...I know I am...being a completist leads to this kinda stress and aggravation and makes collecting no fun....I've decided I dint care anymore I'll buy what I like and skip what I dont...what a relief lol

I personally think Mattel dropped the ball with the Legends, somewhat. The wrestlers they chose, some of them were just not the best pick for me. They choose to retail guys like, George Steele, Hillbilly Jim, Terry Freakin , Poka-dot Dusty Rhodes, Face Slaughter, Road Warriors (no pun intended, but LOD would have been better), the other Von erichs, Orndorff and the list goes on. None of the "real" legends have been released. Yeah there have been a few, but I dont think the line would be struggling if the likes of Andre the Giant (RETAIL), Hogan (I know, I know, about the TNA thing, but still), Razor Ramon, Yokozuna, Bret Hart (he returned to TV LAST YEAR for crying out loud) and More Stone colds were released. And whast up with the distribution. Collectors cant even get em all because thier just not out there like that. Mattel would rather push the BS basics and Flex Force, which in my opinion, is just a waste of store space. And then, snakes like Ringside come in and charge outragious prices for the stuff you cant find in the store smh.

you can complain as much as you want everyday, and say you dont know if you should continue to collect or stop.Bottom line is, Mattel has the license for another couple of years. You stop collecting figures, you can always go back to collecting stamps in the meantime.

If I was a Legends completest, I feel like I would be losing my mind. Starting with Elite 12 there will officially be no continuity to Legends and so you would essentially be looking at Entrance Greats, Legends, Defining Moments, Elites, and then more than likely Basic Heritage figures all comprising your collection. Some are Elites, others are Basics, and if you are a MOC collector forget about it.
I display everything loose and just collect who I like and/or really amazing figures I couldn't pass up. It's not life or death, if you like it then keep doing it but if you have more reasons to stop than you do to keep doing it then hang it up.

I'm in a similar situation as you Jkizzy75 but Ive already dove right in there and committed and it doesn't get any easier. One minute Mattels making your day the next there breaking your heart. And we have to wait for so damn long. Its hard been a Legends Completist. Its even hard been a Elite Completist when you miss out on possibles like Masters, Benjamin, Carlito and still worry over getting Baretta, Jackson, The Uso's etc... I'd buy all 17 of the Legends that were offered. 3 of mine didn't make it. I would be gutted if some of the 12 that were left got scrapped for good. Oh and as for the Basic Heritage Legends I really hope they some how make them Elite as I really don't like Basics (IMO). As for advice I cant give you any as the Legend lines future is foggy at best. AceThey said the Legends who received the lowest votes would not get released yesterday...

The mismatched carding is exactly why after Andre & The Rockers I'm giving up on Legends and only collecting Defining Moments and any Bret Hart figures.

Exactly, the legends who got the lowest votes won't be made. I mean that makes perfect sense in a fair vote, but the voting system was compromised, so now god knows who won't be made because people didn't spam vote a certain wrestler. They also said the top 6 wrestlers had wayway more votes then all the rest. So basically bundy, liz, brainbusters ,ddp and magnum t.a were in the most lists of people who spam voted. :s

I'm sure there were others who spammed the voting for Doink, Savio & Crush also. Out of the list who won only one of mine made it (Arn) but we need to move on now. I'm really surprised Magnum didn't make the cut as we saw his proto. So I figured the "5 winners" would have been the figures that were set for Series 7 as I'd have thought they'd have started the production on them before they decided to change their gameplan so to speak. Anyway I think everyone not on the list still can be released in the "Flashbacks" for the Elite & Heritage lines. The only one I think would have a problem is Magnum as he was never on a WWE PPV to warrent a flashback heritage figure. Does the WWE still have an old WCW/NWA PPV? I don't think so. I think the last one was the GAB and I think they dropped that one also.
