As you all know, most Mattel figures are VERY stiff when they first come out of the package. However, once you start moving them around they begin to loosen up (which is great). All are completely fine except for my Elite Chris Jericho. For some reason I could never get his legs to move at the hip more than a few millimeters. I would try to move them and they felt like tight rubber bands and would just go right back to their regular position. I was fooling around with Jericho tonight and somehow made his right leg TOO loose to the point where it was going to fall off...and sure enough it did. Upon further inspection I noticed that there is a little rotating piece where the leg joins to the hip area. On my Jericho figure that rotating piece was locked up (I still can't get it to move even with a knife). Ugh, I saw both purple and blue versions of Elite Jericho at my Target today so I guess I'll have to get another one tomorrow but what a bummer...I take so much care of my stuff and for this to happen is just blah. I've been collecting since the Jakks BCA days and have NEVER broken a figure. This is my first time.

Had the same thing happen to me with my Punk and Triple H.
Apparently you should've just run hot water into the joint for 2-3 mins.
Maybe you can pick up some plastic model glue and stick it back together? that's my plan of action.

Call Mattel customer service, they might you a voucher. There is a good chance of them doing this. I had a Legacy batman snap a foot off right out of the package and they issued a voucher for $17 to cover tax on the $15 + change figure. Have the UPC handy when you call and tell them it was a gift ( in case you don't have the receipt).

I ran it from the sink until the water got really hot (like, basically unbearable to put my hand under) and then ran the water right into the joint for 2-3 minutes. Then I bent it up so the fig was at 90 degrees. Let it dry out and it should do the snap-and-click you desire!

a few of my elites have been like that, most notably a cena figures arms.
i just put it in boiling water for a minute and it loosend itself up.
if in future you have this problem, try that before using it and you should be fine.

Thanks for your help guys. I have Mattel figures that are stiffer than others (usually in the arms) but not to where its an inconvenience like Jericho. He's shot and completely broken. I'm about to head to Target and pick up another one which hopefully will not have the same issue. If by chance he does then maybe I'll try that hot water gimmick.

I've had this problem with almost every Legends figure I've bought. Does the hot water trick have any other undesirable effects?

I've had this problem with almost every Legends figure I've bought. Does the hot water trick have any other undesirable effects? I agree i noticed alot of legends having problems with the legs moving straight out like doing a kick or big boot move, it sucks. I wanna try that hot water thing on my rude im just worried his leg may pop off altogether ha i got him so cheap that it wouldnt be bad too try but i would also hate breaking him and have too spend double on the fig online or if i had luck findin him in stores anywhere (im sure i would) but yeah i noticed my bushwhackers there legs come out but not all the way, think my L6 Warrior is the same. I could always just open another one as i have them all MOC too but i hate too do that and be out a MOC just too find that leg joint is shot too. I was wondering if it is really that easy too do too with the Boiling Water? do you just hold the fig in for a few mins then pull it out and bend the leg straight out at 90 degrees and let it set? or do you work in back and fourth or what? and how is this boiling hot water not melting the figures mold or ruining the paint of the figure??

I have a few Elites that do that. I'll bend their legs up, but it'll like snap back to the original position. My HoF release of Legends 1 Austin, specifically, does that, and I hated it because he can't properly execute the Stunner. So that was another reason that I'm glad I got the All-Stars Austin/Punk set.
