$150 league, auction keeper style. 14 teams...
price is in parenthesis... ill try to preface at the end of my team by putting in perspective some of the prices...
lineups are qb, rb, rb, wr, flex, flex, flex, te, d, k
qb - brees (58), tjackson (1)
rb- mjd (80), forte (56), spiller (11), ronnie brown (2), rashad jennings (1), bernard scott (1), justin forsett (1)
wr - jennings (55), stevie johnson (24), bernard berrian (2), mike williams [sea] (2), deion branch (1)
te - todd heap (1), fred davis (1)
d - giants (1)
k - mason crosby (1)
top 5 highest paid:
qb: rodgers (85), vick (77), brees (58), rivers (55), brady (42)
brady was a steal, he was auctioned late... after the top 4, and after guys like both mannings, flacco, ryan and schaub, so alot of guys already had their qbs decided. good steal for the guy who got him. brees was the 2nd qb that was auctioned [rodgers 1st]... so after seeing what rodgers went for, i wanted to get in and get either brees or rivers. so at the time... and even still... im happy to get brees for what i did.
rb: peterson (106), charles (106), johnson (101), mccoy (99), rice (95), foster (92)
all of those had been auctioned before jones-drew, except peterson. needless to say i was thrilled to get mjd for what i did. peterson, i was one second off getting him for 105... didnt have the balls to pull the trigger on 107, because i wouldve had 51 dollars or something ridiculous, to fill out the other 15 spots on my team (brees and jones drew were the first two guys i got). i somewhat regret it now, seeing how un-deep my team is to begin with... but i definitely wouldnt have had jennings and johnson, who at least give it some semblance of deepness. on the other hand... would you do jennings, johnson and forte for peterson? youd at least think about it.
as for forte... im looking at something like 1000 yards, 7 tds on the ground... 60 catches, 550 yards, 4 tds receiving. that should be good for near 250 points (ppr league)... and the 2nd tier rbs were wearing thin, so i mightve overbid on him. but gore went for 61 shortly after that, and call me crazy, but i like forte more than gore this year (especially after making gore my first pick last year).
and i like cj spiller for a breakout year. took a chance... we'll see what happens. i also handcuffed jennings for mjd, and grabbed brown and scott in thoughts of injuries to mccoy and/or benson. i think scott might see some carries in cincy regardless, just depends if im out of it by then or not.
wr - andre johnson (88), hotrod (68), cal johnson (68), fitzgerald (65), nicks (62), vince jax (61)
andre was like the 3rd guy nominated, and i guess guys were still getting adjusted. stupid price. the rest seem to fall in line. on my cheat sheet i had before the draft, i liked jennings as the #3 receiver behind andre and calvin respectively. so i was happy to get him for 55.
as for stevie... perhaps i overrate him. his price didnt fall out of line or anything... the pick right in front of him was maclin for 29, and right behind him was kenny britt for 28. but i dont see how that buffalo scenario changed any (lee evans had lost a step and stevie was the number 1 the last 5-6 games of the year anyway), so i can still see stevie doing something like 1k and 6 tds... which ill take. if spiller breaks out, it might hurt him a little... but even still, 900 and 6 is fine. the only thing that scares me is... i have two guys from buffalo on my team.
te - gates (40), finley (37), clark (29), witten (29), vernon (25), daniels (21)
all of them were nominated early, while my team was still only 4 deep (brees, mjd, jennings and forte), so i wasnt looking to go stupid on a tight end that early. if i couldve gotten value, id have taken it... after they all went, the only other guy i really liked was aaron hernandez, who with everyone left scrambling for a te, was in a bidding war that got up to 16. again, wasnt looking to overspend on a te. so i just went for two dollar options, and ill hope that somebody breaks out like marcedes lewis or hernandez or moeaki did last year, and ill scour the waiver wire. unless heap becomes the check down option i expect him to be for kolb. if he catches 60 passes, ill be outright thrilled.
defenses and kickers... meh. my theory on defenses and kickers is... the difference between the best, and the 14th best, is so small, its not worth to go for more than a dollar (or in a snake league, the last 2 rounds). so i got the giants, essentially for sacks... and i was quite thrilled to get crosby for a dollar actually. a round earlier i had nominated janikowski, and somebody went to 2 on him. i actually crosby better than jano, he should get more oppurtunities to score than him.
questions, comments, love or hate... just posted out of boredom essentially. obviously, with how much i jabbered along there.
