According to SpikeTV's website, Impact Wrestling on October 6th, 2011 will be a 3-hour episode, airing from 9 PM to midnight. Visit spike.com/tv-schedule/2011-10-06 to see Spike's schedule for that day.

Oh God....I don't think anybody should be forced to suffer through 3 hours of TNA Impact. That's just cruel and unusual punishment. They don't even torture them that bad in Guantanamo Bay, lol.

It makes no sense from a ratings standpoint, as RAW almost always has lower numbers because of the special first hour. You're already being given the cold shoulder by Spike in press releases and presentations, you were just overtaken as the highest-rated show on the network and you don't have much room to go down before ratings are more of a joke than they currently are. If you're going to do three hours, do a special edition of Reaction or Before The Glory, something like that, so you don't really spend time on important things no one will see, but whoever does will have an hour of something different to take in from TNA.
Besides the numbers, like when RAW does so many three-hour shows in close proximity to each other, there really isn't a demand for more of your product. I don't see much point in another hour of Impact even if it's two weeks before your top PPV.

I don't see how the time is going to be an issue - like it is for Monday Night RAW - since they will be starting at the same time. Plug at the start of the show the extra hour and then plug it at 10:00 when people are flipping channels.

Plug at the start of the show the extra hour and then plug it at 10:00 when people are flipping channels. You can plug it all you want, and I'm sure the third hour will do better than an early first would, but I doubt it will do much better than the first hour. I don't think from just a ratings standpoint having a third-hour of a show not doing well as it is will help, as you may be more likely with a big third hour planned to drive away the people who still watch the first hour. Unless they have something big planned at a specific time like the 1/4 three-hour episode, I don't think TNA will see enough of an increase in one of the hours to make the rating go up more than it would on any given week with two.

That will be taped in Knoxville if my chronology is in order.
