It was another very successful marking out trip for DJKnightRida and I. Our adventure begins in York, PA with the TNA house show. Once again the York Fair played host to TNA. And once again, the show was rainy and muddy. I really wish TNA would learn not to run out door shows unless you have some sort of protective roof. I guess its going to take a major injury to make it happen.
Anyway, we get there and we are informed there are no backstage passes being sold tonight. Don West is not here, so things are a little confusing for fans and the crew. They did have the Jarrett guitar package for $175 and the Hardy Party Truck package for $80. We picked up the truck package and this time DJ is keeping the truck. Once inside, we went to find our seats and found out our comps, which are normally GA are actually 2nd row in the section behind the first floor section. Huh?! From $10 GAs to $40 floor seats. Ok. If the rain was going to keep up, we were going to head to the GA section anyway b/c it is covered.
Almost immediately they call for the Hardy Party, so we lined up. They probably sold about 20 of these, much less than previous offerings. When it was my turn, Jeff was in great spirits, per the usual. I told him how happy I was to see him return to TNA and he said he was happy to get this chapter in his life past him and he is ready to move on. He made sure to thank me for giving him a copy of his "Squabbles" cd, which all the recordings and lyrics and only other copy was lost in the fire from a few years back. Its a bit of a rushed atmosphere, so you just try and get what you can get done. Ended up getting 4 items done and a picture with Jeff.
We came back out and headed to the table where Anderson was signing. We got in before they shut it down. Got him to sign an old WWE program, which he was glad to and even signed as Kennedy without having to ask. Anderson is always a top notch nice guy.
Once we headed back to our seats and show began, they announced the normal backstage passes for $50, but also said there would be no Angle, Anderson or Hardy backstage. This in turn caused many people to hesitate and they did not even sell out till intermission just started. We opted to pass and just get one in Rahway the next night. The rain had stopped, but the show was still not very good. The opening match was the X Division match provided plenty of hilarity. Must say, my boy Robbie E was MASSIVELY over in York. When he came out, almost the entire crowd got up on their feet and were fistpumping. Very cool site and I think Robbie was way into it. He did his normal fist pump/dancing gimmick before A Double took the mic. He told the crowd whatever Robbie could do...he could do twice as good. Hit Robbie's music and it was A Double doing a ridiculous dance, which the crowd popped for. Kendrick then took the mic. and began to strip until Aries attacked him. The match was very short, ending with Kendrick hitting Sliced Bread on Robbie, Aries tossing Kendrick to the floor and scoring a pinfall.
Intermission saw Mickie James signing at the table. I got Mickie on the same old WWE program, as Anderson.
Matches were mostly slow and dragging. Nothing all that too notable to mention, outside of the last 2. Before the main event was Jeff Hardy vs. Jeff Jarrett. When Hardy's music hit, the reaction he got was ABSURD! A crowd that had been pretty much dead since the opening dance off suddenly got double shots of their favorite energy drinks. Hardy came out first and took the mic. Kind of rehashed his apology, talked about his return, future and looking for forgiveness. Crowd chanted "we forgive you". Jarrett interupts and draws MAJOR heat. Says Hardy should beg for Jarrett's forgiveness, but there is no way he is getting it. Jarrett challenges Hardy, Hardy asks the crowd if he should do it and Jarrett attacks. Fairly one sided with Jarrett dominating. Hardy makes a failed comeback, Jarrett continues to beat on him. Crowd is pretty much on their feet the whole time before Hardy completes the comeback, twist of fate, swanton and 3 count. Hardy leaves the ring and spends a few minutes shaking hands with the fans.
Now the crowd is hot and out comes Anderson, also to a big pop. He does his gimmick, with JB using chair to hand him a mic. Anderson does the got any bungholes here in York gimmick and crowd pops. Angle comes out to a big reaction as well. Match starts and the crowd is hot. Dueling chants of Lets Go Angle and Lets Go Anderson. I start a Lets Go bunghole chant, which gets going, replacing the Anderson chant. But then suddenly, the crowd kind of dies. The match is sub par at best and Angle ends up getting a pin after a low blow and Angle Slam. Very disappointing main event.
Jarrett was signing at the table. I had nothing for him, so I helped DJ with his program. When I got to Jarrett, I told him I did not buy a BFG fan interaction ticket yet. He asked why and I said, its missing Sting and Hardy. He said he would see what he could do.
Day 2 saw us travel to Rahway, NJ....always a great place to see a show. This time we opted for both The Hardy Party and the Backstage pass. The table started with Dvon and The Pope this time. Got DVon on an old WWE Program and Pope on my TNA turnbuckle. I asked Pope to sign at the bottom and squeeze his signature in and Pope would not oblige, opting to sign at the top and take up half the space. Said Pope needs room for his autograph. Ugh.
The Hardy Party began, so we went backstage. Didnt start off so well. We were 3rd in line. In front of us, a small child and a teenage girl. I know the little kid as a the kid of one of the guys who works the merch. stand. I know him, but I dont know him. Its one of those things, if you can understand. Anyway, the kid was very nervous to meet Jeff and had like a stack of stuff for him. He was first and got Jeff to sign a poster, then handed him a stack of programs and magazines. Well, Jeff began to flip through to start signing. Knowing this was gonna take forever, I stepped in to try and help the little guy and start opening them to the right pages. One of TNA's crew stepped in and asked me how many items does the kid have? I told him I dont know. He said we got other people who want to meet Jeff. I said ok....what exactly do you want me to do about it? He said that "my kid cant get all this stuff done and we need to move on." I told him it the kid wasnt mine, I was just trying to help move things along, but the dude didnt seem to buy it. He stopped the kid around 7 or so. Then the kid got 3 photos with Jeff. LOL!!! At this point, the TNA crew guy was PISSED. I got up to Jeff, got 4 done and a photo. Got an 8X10, old WWE program, the CD of his music that was lost in the fire, and my TNA turnbuckle. The TNA crew guy said....guys, 1 item only. 1 item only. We cannot be here all day. Poor DJ only got the 1 item done b/c of it.
We took our seats, this time in GA, and began to watch the show. Matches were all pretty much the same as the night before. They were cleaner and more crisp, without having to deal with a wet ring or a muddy ring. Robbie wasnt as over as he was in York, but still got a great reaction. They did the same gimmick from the night before with the same finish. Check out www.gymtanwrestle.com for video footage of Robbie's dance.
Intermission saw Winter at the table signing this time. I got her on my TNA turnbuckle, nice change up from the night before. Went backstage for the backstage pass and once again was told we would not find Anderson, Angle, Hardy. Who did he find backstage....Anderson, Angle, Hardy and Beer Money. Kind of a scam to have the Hardy Party claiming this is the only way to meet Jeff as he wont be backstage at intermission and then there he is. Feel bad for those who just wanted to meet the guy. Anyway, Hardy's line was enormous. So I opted to hit Angle up first, getting my turn buckle signed and an 8X10. Once done with Angle, headed over to Beer Money. Storm had one line and Roode had another. To give you an idea how people dont really care about Roode, Storm had about 15 people in his line and Roode had 2. I went to Roode first, got the turnbuckle and my NJPW program signed and then went to Storm. Roode, was pretty quiet. Signed, said hello and that was it. Storm was much more personable. He marked out over the NJPW program and asked how I got it. Told him I went to the shows for the US Invasion and he mentioned he didnt even know they had come over to the states. He asked about when and I told him in May of this year and told him NJPW was booked to return in June of next year. BREAKING NEWS! He also signed my turnbuckle and asked me how I got that and I told him I stole it. Hopped the rail and ran into the ring and took it right off the corner. I spent a night in jail, but it was well worth it. His eyes popped out and said wow...you bandit. I told him I was kidding and he laughed.
Anderson had no line, but was in a bad spot as he was standing behind Hardys line. I dont think people really noticed him. I hit him up quickly, having to get my turnbuckle resigned. Deco Paint will NOT dry on these and will just smear. So I had to remove the autograph and start over. Anderson signed it, inscribed it bunghole and I jumped into Hardys line. Got through fairly quickly, got to Hardy and finished about 98% of what I need done. Got several seasons of THS done. All in all, finished with 14 Hardy autos and 2 photos.
Backstage was over and I headed back to my seat. Been contracted by Hernandez to build his website, so I wanted to make sure I was ready to go for his match in order to take some photos. After the tag title match, Hardy and Jarrett was tapped. Hardy came out, this time to a very 50/50 reaction. Been to 4 shows in Rahway for TNA, and this pretty par for the course. It seemed like the floor was pro Hardy and the GA was anti Hardy. The main event saw the exact same crowd reaction. VERY HOT for both Angle and Anderson and then the match started and the crowd died. Bad chemistry, too many rest holds, whatever. The matches just werent good.
Jarrett concluded the show at the table to sign. Got a new 8X10 of Jarrett as a part of the backstage pass and got Jeff to sign it. First thing he said to me was...."so did I take care of you or what?" LOL!! Jarrett is always so cool. BFG Fan Interaction...here I come. Another great weekend of shows by TNA.
Finished up my night by heading to Hernanedez's hotel. He wanted to catch some dinner and talk about his site. Went inside and waited for Hernandez to come down. Saw Hardy come down the stairs and he saw me and headed over. We chatted about his Mattel figure and Jakks. He said he actually prefers the Jakks figures and Jakks as a company to deal. He loved the RSC Exclusive 2 pack cuz of the detail on the tats. We talked about his figures having the broken neck syndrome and he said he never really took notice of it. He mentioned that the shirts he has been wearing featuring his art work will start to go on sale VERY soon. He had them done just for his personal use and people keep asking him about them, so they will be going on sale soon.
Hernandez came down and we shot some photos, did a video and found the kitchen to be closed. Oh well...no dinner for me. We made a ruckus in the lobby and at one point Hernandez fell on his ass when he decided to leap into DJKnightRida's arms. HILARIOUS! Shocked hotel security didnt throw us all out. Hernandez had some great ideas for the site and we have some plans to do some interactive things for fans. Site is still under construction, but many of the features are available. www.bordertoss.com. Check it out!
Lastly, at York, I met a guy....wendirichterfan from markedout. Evidently, he used to post here but people accused him of being Nicole, so he left. I snapped a photo of him to show proof that he is a real person and not Nicole.
