You probably confused her by saying the name Mattel, a company that is synonymous with Barbie dolls.
The non-internet collector probably has no idea which company makes the toys they are buying....if you had just said "do you have WWE toys" she probably would have understood you because the only WWE toys any store has are made by Mattel these days (except for some TRU's that have a few left over Jakks they'll never get rid of).

You shouldve used 'wrestling figures' instead despite what the WWE wants.

Yeah, I'd never ask for WWE Mattel. Just WWE or wrestling figures. Calling them Mattel figures only makes sense to collectors who distinguish between the different makers of wrestling figures.

I'm sure the lady just calls action figures as dolls...especially if she is older.

I never call a store. I'd rather just take a chance and drive there. If they don't have exactly what I want, hopefully they have something else to make the trip worthwhile.

This is illegal in most states. its illegal to make friends with employees? granted employees taking money from customers for services is against most store policies simply being friends with someone who works there who calls you when things get in is not illegal. but yeah you're better off not wasting your time calling to find out exact figures that are in. most the time employees are busy, they'll know if they carry said items most times but what the stock is is usually beyond them.

The other day a worker at WalMart couldn't tell me where the dog food was. Don't expect much from them.
