So today for the first time, 2-packs at my local TRU were 20.99 up from 18.99. I saw nother topic about collecting getting boring, it's not so much boring to me as it's me feeling almost guilty for pouring so much money into a simple hobby. Hopefully Elites don't go up anymore as that's what I mainly collect.

Well with prices keep going up, I used to like buying doubles but I'm resorting to only getting 1 instead of 2 and we have to remember, Mattel sets it price for the beginning of the year so it is TRU just getting greedy trying to capitalize on every dollar.

Yeah come to think of it, we do have it better than most, if not all countries. On my vacation this year, I went to another Carribean island and there were only a few Basic Batistas, Elite 4 Shows and a couple other shelf warmers for about 20-35 dollars after the conversion.

Yeah, I feel bad for our fellow international collectors. No exclusives and limited distribution, at higher prices!
The price hikes suck but what really bothers me about it is that Mattel made sacrifices in order to keep their price point the same...And got a lot of flak for it too! We lost the stands and several belts were made dull so that the MSRP could remain at $9.99/$14.99 for Basics/Elites and yet, the stores seem to be ignoring this. I mean, isn't that still what the MSRP is supposed to be or did that officially go up?
I don't think there's any store out there now that has the $9.99/$14.99 price anymore. Maybe Walmart but the only one near me is too far away for me to check regularly so I haven't been there in a few months. Target used to be good but now, I see $12.09 prices for a Basics.
TRU is the worst for mark-ups, though. $12.99 for leftover WM 26 Basics is terrible, they should be discounted already! I kinda want to get WM26 Jericho but not at that price. I guess this means that fewer figures will be getting "2nd Chances" from me. TRU can have some of the best sales but when they're at regular retail, they really try to milk us dry. It's terrible to see that they still carry Jakks WWE stuff in there too, but that's another debate for a different forum, so I digress...
Anyway, these price increases are making it harder to make impulse buys and I may have to cut the Basics from my collection now as well. I'm glad that MicroDiva found me an Extreme Rules United States of America champion Sheamus, it may be my last impulse buy. At this rate, the only Basics I'll be able to pick up are the Divas and the occasional 2-pack.
I blame the stores for being greedy, especially if Mattel has done everything possible on their end to keep prices the same. I mean, this is, what, the 2nd or 3rd price increase in the last year?!
