I love your line to death. Really, I do. But if you guys are still reading these forums, please take a look at the "No More Defining Moments" thread within this forum. This is just for your information. PLEASE give it a read and consider your fans, as I am one myself. I'm not trying to be an ingrateful ass like some people usually are to you guys, but I think you guys may find some useful information in that thread. Thanks.
Sincerely, chris chrome

Mattel, I would recommend not reading that thread. It's just a lot of people who need some cheese to go with their whine. There are a lot of posts talking about how great the figures are, but far more posts along the lines of WHY HAV U DUN THIS TO US MATTEL U ARE MORE EVILLER THAN JAKKS U HATE COLLECTORZ.

i agree with pc83uk.. dont read that board lol its all ppl saying mattel sucks and collecting is gay and bitchin about price.. they dont need too read all that.. Mattel is right for what there doing.. This John Cena/ Bret Hart line was prob the best line and sold more but the rest all still warm shelves and cost so much for parents to buy so i mean they really are doing the right thing.. not too mention ppl cant afford buying figures like crazy in this economy.. most of us work hard full time jobs and pay bills so the more figs that get put out, the more there gonna warm shelves

and mattels perfect? of course they should read that thread, they make awesome figures but HORRIBLE choices .... no need to kiss their ass Im not saying cancelling DM is a horrible choice , even though they recently said DM was a success ... lol whatever Sounds of a disgruntled collector lol i only dont mind cause i can see where there coming from.. being a 27 year old collector myself, working a full time job and living on my own, paying bills, i cant afford buying figured twice a month or every single month like ppl are hoping. Esp Defining moments.. you can get 2 figures for the price of 1 DM.. They warm shelves in my area. The biggest seller up til DM 5 was the Rock and Macho Man.. that was it! outta 5 series carrying 10 figures only 4 sold the best from what i see and hear, thats not doin good. But the reason they would cut DM, if at all, was because of money issues. The price of materials are constantly rising, and there a big money making company. So they gotta make cuts and get figures out that are affordable too the ppl. Saying things like "mattel does not care for us collectors" as i read in that other msg thread is a lie.. if they didnt care for us, they would get rid of most the figures altogether.. The legends will still be online and there is still hope DM's could be online and that is helping collectors.. The collectors are constantly online buying and trading items so thats the market they need too hit too make collectors happy. Its better than flooding the store with over produced product then no one being able too afford too buy it and we get stuck with even more shelf warmers then all our stores have now.. Think about it! look at all the shelf warming figures across the country as is, and think about how much worse that could get it mattel did not do what there doin now too save the line, so us collectors could still collect. From what i seen this year just starting too collect figures again, its not Mattel not caring for us collectors.. its most the collectors not caring for Mattel. Everyone complains about prices or cut backs, when we should be thankful and supporting Mattel with what they do. We would want them too support our feedback and decisions.

i never said mattel doesnt care about customers, i said they make poor choices in character and costume.
im 29 work fulltime and live on my own, Pay Bills, Support a family of 4 and i CAN afford to buy every figure i want, but i only like legends, so if they continue to make good characters then ill buy them. But I feel every aspect of legends whether in retail or online are doomed, people already complain of price and character choice for the 2012 exclusives..... Those are gonna sell less than desirably and will be cancelled as well
not to mention scubasteve, mattel might not pick anyone popular enough for flashbacks to warrant a second or third try.... then they might get cancelled, then what
cancelling dms is prob the best thing they can do right now, im not arguing with anyone, $30 a figure is ridiculous, especially when $10 is for fabric clothes , id rather see $15 figures with less accessories that sell well then $30 figures w tons of stuff that dont, even if i could afford them at $100 a figure and they were perfect in every way, id rather see them the way they are with nothing else at $15 and selling well for years
Heres hoping Flashbacks turn things around

Well, they read it and replied. Not very informatively though, just that the DM series is going to die due to lackluster sales. I just think there are a lot of good points in that thread that need to be heard.

Well Apocalypse, then it looks like Flashbacks would disappear altogether as well if they didnt do good in retail, and that would suck!! I collect both legends and elites so thats what i was getting at as too why i love the rate things are happening atm.. pretty soon were gonna get swarmed with stuff again too like next month on.. Even if i was only a legend collector i would be content with the way things are going as i rather save money and get other stuff too or save for vacations over buying figures if ya get what i mean.. But the difference between online sales and retail, are retail they have too produce an x amount of figures too ship out worldwide, and when those figures dont sell, they sit around or get mailed back too the warehouse where as online.. all they need is one proto mold too post on there website and start producing and as orders are being made, there in control of that. So there not losing money over producing figures and shipping them out too retail then getting stuck with all these left over, useless Terry funks, Dusty Rhodes, Sgt Slaughters etc lol Sort of a produce as they order type method. Then they only have too produce what is ordered and not be wasting time or money on left over plastic.
You hit the nail on the head too with DM's.. i too, would rather pay the $15 for a fig with a couple accessories rather then pay the extra $15 for a bunch more cloth or paper accessories (ahem, Bret's flag) lol I do have a feeling the price will go up on Mattycollector for the legends next year.. i expect the Rockers too go for $39.99 plus shipping so prob $50 there.. and singles i bet will be $19.99-$24.99.. something along those lines.. but i dont mind paying that as i understand Mattels current situationing and i love collecting these figures so much, ill pay what i have to, too fill in my blanks and too support the industry who are making these amazing figures for me. Its when figures start getting too $40 an elite, thats when i get sick of it.. an action figure with 2 small accessories should not go for $40 ya know..

Well, they read it and replied. Not very informatively though, just that the DM series is going to die due to lackluster sales. I just think there are a lot of good points in that thread that need to be heard. How was the response not informative?! They are a BUSINESS, in order to maintain their status as a business, they must make a profit. Continuing the DM line will not be profitable, end of discussion. Until you guys get to MBA and have multiple years experience running a business, stop the complaining, seriously. I'm really getting tired of people trying to tell Mattel what to do. The U.S. is in a massive recession, people aren't buying as much luxury items as they were 10 years ago. Action figures are a product focused at children. Children do not work, therefore have no income, in turn, making their parents buy things for them. A lot of people are trying to save money, so they won't be buying as many action figures for their kids. It's really not that hard of a concept to grasp.

he gets it!ha couldnt agree more brother...
also apocalypse, I WOULD LOVE AN EARTHQUAKE!! lol for real i been using my Jakks Natural disasters too pose with my mattels as i always remembered them way bigger than most the other superstars anyways so it works for now, but i hate the Jakks structure too figures.. the ankles dont move, the stomach is not elite style, the arms feel flabby and weird and there just not the same quality as mattel.. I would love seeing some of those same guys you had mentioned as i am a total mark for the early 90's WWF era guys. Big Bossman, Nailz, Natural Disasters, Nasty Boys, IRS, Tatanka, Giant Gonzalez.. i could go on for days haha

The following is not a poem Some see red and some see blue. That is just plain old day to day life. People are always going to sit on opposing sides of the fence. The simple fact is both arguments are correct. Mattel know that. They also would not just scrap Defining Moments without sitting down and working out why they haven't sold well. They will have done a thorough review. And they themselves would have seen that ONE of the reasons is the retail price, but they would have known how much it costs to make the line and realized they cannot lower the retail price on them so in their opinion the figures are priced at the lowest they can go. So being a business what choice did they have. Of course they would cancel the line. Mattel have said that the Defining Moments are the best figures they make. I personally would have preferred to have seen them released less frequently, possibly as exclusives. And i said this back when we were discussing the future of the Legends line, but i would have preferred those figures/characters were released in the Legends line. I actually said Defining Moments was ONE of the reasons Legends weren't selling. Skipping forward several months and now DMs are gone due to not selling well. I love the figures Mattel are making and my only gripe is being a bloody MOC collector. I like to have a display that kinda all matches. That is my only gripe. We are still going to get the figures/characters that would have been in the Defining Moments line. They will just appear elsewhere now. And with that being said (and taking into account what i said above about both sides to this argument being correct) I do have one dig to make - If you are a loose collector, what the heck do you care. Seriously, the figures will be released in other lines. All you will have to do now is throw away a different looking box and probably pay less money for it. Finally, I am looking at the positive side of DMs being cancelled in the hope future planned DMs get moved into the Legends line and after the 6x 2012 Legends figures sell well on mattycollector we see an online subscription (or similar) for 2013 with an increased amount of figures.
