Last night I thought about it and I have way too many rings, I bought the Smackdown ring and thought that would be great. But then the TLC, Ringside Brawl, Steel Cage, Elimination Chamber, etc. were released. So I have quite a few of these crappy rings sitting around.
Who is the moron at Mattel who thinks its a good idea to release the gimmick match with another ring knowing people have at least one already? Basically they give us the same turd with a new bow on it just to jack up the price. My wife just bought me the Chamber for 55 thanks to TRU's sale but still it should be 50 as a base price, if they didn't include the ring it would be at least $15 cheaper.
Mattel is cancelling crap left and right cause poor sales yet they continue to have the money to release crap like this. Its simple sell the gimmick match set without a ring and that will lower the price and guess what IT WILL INCREASE SALES OF THAT ITEM. If they want to be smart about it they can make a cloth skirt and include that with the set and 1 ring post with the correct ropes.
Next we have the Legends line becoming a Matty exclusive so it will literaly be an Adult Collectible esp with a $20 + shipping price tag. At that cost I want the stands back and I don't want any crap about the belt being dull cause it wasn't in the budget.
Maybe they should cancel the Flex Force line cause that isn't selling for crap either, they are the same price as a Basic figure and they have a stupid action. I don't care if its aimed at kids cause it doesn't sell, I was at a Wal-Mart yesterday and they had a cardboard island sitting near the toy aisle and it was packed with FF.
Any insight from Bill/or any Mattel person would be helpful cause this is all just plain BS that is happening. Next the Defining Moments will become a Matty exclusive and we will get 2 figures every 2 years and they will cost $25 and shipping. I just think its funny cause how many of these people working at Mattel went to college and they can't come up with a way to make this stuff cheaper (thats cheaper from a price stand point not a Jakks stand point).

Didn't they already say in the past retailers won't order accessory packs for the rings? I'm pretty sure it was mentioned/addressed in one of the Q & A sessions. Retailers feel the consumers won't buy it if there's not a ring packed with it.

I love it too, I don't expect anything though I'm a customer and I'm venting about their stupidity. These gimmick matches probably don't sell as well as they would like cause they are expensive and some people don't need 20 damn rings.

I think you greatly overestimate how much cheaper(if at all) these would be if they didn't include the ring.

well you see, the thing with the rings is Mattel is getting new customers interested in collecting each and everyday. These ppl missed out on rings (i.e. The Steel cage set) or maybe there area or stores just sold out or aint carrying the basic rings no more. So the best thing too do, is keep re dropping the rings with the playsets that everyone so much desires. Someone who does not have a basic ring, and were too buy the chamber would be screwed if they couldnt get there hands on a basic ring. They would just have a Chamber cage sitting on a table with no ring inside it lol Gotta think things thru like this. I catch poop alot because of my intelligence and business intellect but think of it this way. If you just started collecting and wanted a ring and your area didnt have any, wouldnt you want Mattel then too put one out in a set or re release ones they already have? Look at it from newcomers point of view really. Also, i agree about Flexforce. They suck so bad and they are totally clogging up every stores shelves i go too as well. They should have never been made honestly let alone carrying on this long. The line should def be canceled. Hell, it should have been canceled way before legened and DM were becasue thats how bad they suck lol I really dunno one person who collects or likes Flex force at all haha. DM's are not guaranteed too be a mattycollector exclusive yet either. We may not even get them again as it stands yet, pending on sales for these online Legends. They def were really pricey in stores though and taking up alot of shelf space too though. Idk if it was Matty's choices on who they put in the line that made them sit on shelves forever or if the price played a major part in sales sucking or what? All i know, is everytime i went too a store, i could be guaranteed too see a Ultimate Warrior, Ricky Steamboat, Triple H and sometimes Savage lol Legends cost $16.99 in stores also, which brings me too the next point you brought up. I dunno why its such a big deal everyone pays shipping prices for it lol If you love something so much, and its on its way out the door, and this was the only way we could keep the line, why bitch about it? lol appreciate it ya know! They could have taken Legends away from us completely, never too be seen again, but they didnt! So im thankful were even getting them again and considering they cost $17.96 after tax's in retail and shipping would be $10.95 MOC, were actually not in bad hands with Matty's legends exclusives as of yet price wise. There are jobs out there if you cant afford too buy them, find a job and make some cash so then you can buy these things we all love and support a line we all wanted too continue and a company who makes these kick ass figures for us. I live on my own, pay my own bills, take care of a car, a pet, and myself.. get no help from anyone and i still buy Elites, Legends, DM's etc and to be honest, $25-$30 after shipping for an elite is not a bad deal at all. Hey, it could be worse. Could be charging us $50-$75 per figure ya know? i see it on other sites with other toy companies lines or older figures so Legends Exclusives for $20 +s/h is not a bad deal at all.. if you cant afford a little extra too help save a good line then like i said prob time too find a job or just stop collecting. Thats what i would do if it got that bad broski!

It's not stupidity on the part of Mattel...it MAKES SENSE ON BEHALF OF A BUSINESS!! They have to sell "A COMPLETE PLAY EXPERIENCE" in each package...
Would u buy salt less pretzels? SURE WHY NOT u already have plenty of salt at home !
Would u buy a car with no wheels ? WHY NOT! U got wheels on your car now why pay extra for MORE WHEELS!!
dude u make no sense...not all kids will get every ring, and when they do want a TLC playset, they want the WHOLE EXPERIENCE, not just half

Oh and the reason why alot of mattels higher priced collectors lines failed is because the ECONOMY SUCKS and people are broke!! 5 years ago these lines woulda done fantastic business...but now we should be happy they care enough about the collectors to make them as online exclusives...otherwise we wouldn't get them at all..and don't tell me "it's the names or outfits they choose" cuz the DM line is stellar figures and names, but people are broke and can't afford $25 for one figure, so only is hardcore guys getem, cuz I'd rather have DM MachoMan than fix my leaky sink ... Haha

If they're such crappy rings and stupid gimmick matches...then why did exactly did you buy them all? You're complaining about all the crappy rings you have, but you bought them so you can't really blame mattel. Simple fix, if you don't want so many rings, don't buy them...

I only have one ring, a RAW ring and I want a Smackdown Ring, but I don't have any Room for it. I see the point with too many rings, RAW, Smackdown, ECW, Summerslam, Wrestlemania, Money in the Bank, etc. Who has the money or the space to buy them all? Only die hard collectors do. Speaking of rings, Mattelshop has the basic, RAW, Smackdown and ECW rings on Sale for $10.19, so the mustn't be selling to well.

I got a question, lol. Why did the Rumbler cage originally sell as a separate piece from the Rumbler Ring?
Here's my bitch about Matty: I bought the October MOTUC figure. Standard shipping cost $10.52 and took 12 days to go from CA to CT. I hate watching my package zig zag across the country so I usually choose the next best option which costs about $20 for a figure. But I wanted to get rid of a debit card that didn't quite have enough for better shipping and had to live through the draining delivery process.

Could always stop buying them? Or start your own toy company since you have all the answers?

You're buying them so I guess they're selling and Mattel is making their money off of you my friend. Personally my two sons are rough on their rings so when we get a new gimmick ring it's welcome because they beat up the prior ring pretty bad.

Yeah, the question about accessory packs vs always including a ring was addressed in the RSF Q&A. Basically, Bill said that it's part of the criteria that's imposed upon them when they make a playset. The playset MUST include a "complete play experience" and if you think about it, it makes sense. Chances are, these playsets are going to be the only one that a kid will get. How could you have an Elimination Chamber without a ring? Who's going to buy that now, collectors? Ok, great for us, but keep in mind that kids outnumber us 19-to-1, at least! So as a business, who would you rather sell for? And that's why we get another ring...Thanks, Little Jimmy! Hey, at least you didn't pick up all the Basic rings before these playsets starting showing up, like me! I went ring-crazy when they went on sale and got a Raw (White & Red Rope versions), Smackdown, ECW, Wrestlemania, and Royal Rumble rings. (Yes, missed out on the SummerSlam one) They're still in their boxes because I have the Extreme Rules, TLC, Raw, Crashdown Smackdown, and Elimination Chamber rings lying around my room. At this point, I don't even build them anymore! The sad thing is, I'm only using my ESR for my pic fed, heheh!

This thread is hilarious. You're mad because you've bought them all? Hmm, I wonder why they keep making them?

Right micro? lol they do make great display pieces though the ones your not using.. When i take pics of my figs im always using my ESR with different Naparo skirts and if i want that Cage match experience in the pic, then ill be using my Chamber thats on the way or the steel cage ring i wanna buy from walmart. I have no desire too buy any of the basics with out a cage or something big like that, when i could just buy the different custom skirts from naparo and switch up my ESR every now and then. The Chamber and Cage ones are def worth it though, TLC aint too bad either although they shouldda made it money in the bank instead of TLC lol
