The figures matty have given is have been great. But the line is too narrow. IT focuses only on the best of the best. I wish mattel would take more chances and plunge into the line. THe problem they have is they can't afford to take risks on lower level tallent due to the price of their figures.
Jakks could make that chance cause their figures were more affordable. CS figs were about 10 bucks when they started 12 near the end of the line. People were willing to spend 10 bucks or 8 if on sale for a Jimmy hart figure. They are less willing to spend it on a $18 mattel version.
The jakks era was such a fun ride. The figure line went so deep and new product was always coming out and for the most part was affordable.
The mattel line goes less deep into the breadth of the product but goes into great detail for each individual figure which was where Jakks often fell short. At least the lines are mostly in scale and can exist in the same world.
