Which company has produced the best legends line. Mattel has started out with getting 3 big wants that everyone wanted Savage, Steamboat, Von Erichs. They won't focus on a lot of the gimmick guys, lower card, jobbers, managers, annoncers, refs and other personalites as of now.
Jakks took a chance on a lot of them and most if not all were selling well as people were always hitting stores for the new waves of cs figures.
Mattel can still have a good go with the Legends at retail Papa Shango, Big Boss Man, debut Kane are a step in the right direction.
I think Mattel should take a crack at Warlord, Barbarian, Skinner, Mountie, Adam Bomb, Tito Santana, Honky Tonk Man, Mantaur even if they pull a move like they do on their other lines with certain guys and do 50/50 splits say Tito Santana as El Materdor, or singles gear.
With 2 years in so far the Legends line has become an online exclusive, and will have limited retail presence, a good re-evaluation is needed since series 1-3 sat but 4 and 5 sold well in the stores that got them in.

I say Mattel, simply based on quality. If I look at my L6 Warrior next to my CS1 Warrior, it makes me want to get rid of my CS1 Warrior just because the Mattel version just blows it out of the water.

Mattel has better quality but has been reluctant to take any chances on smaller names and managers. The also sometimes use rubber over fabric which has sucked.
I prefer Mattel because of style and more realistic bodies. But Jakks gave us alot more and dug alot deeper.

I prefer Jakks CS by far. I think the CS line will be the most complete roster of names ever made. Only a few names were missing, but after a few customs to fill the gaps, you have one amazing collection. With the purchase of Ralph's gear to complete some of the figures, it easily becomes by favorite figure series of all time. Truly an awesome group of figures to own.

I like both but at least Jakks made all of their Snukas barefoot and their Shawn Michaels actually looked like him!

I have Ricky Steamboat, Macho Man, HBK, Piper, Rock, Austin...
I mean are there other guys I want? Yeah, but Mattel is still kicking the crap out of the Jakks line imo.

I like both for different reasons. Jakks was excellent because they were able to produce a ton of "legends" that we though would never get a figure. Examples being Bastian Booger, Harvey Wippleman, and so on.
However, the few "legends" Mattel have produced have all been works of art with the exception of a few. So, the "legends" pool doesn't go as deep as Jakks did, but the quality is second to none.

On this forum, I'd be surprised to see a lot of Jakks support.
From the scale, attention to detail and part choice, Mattel Legends are so much better. I like that Hillbilly Jim is taller than Piper and that Terry Funk has all his crazy cowboy attire. The Jakks' legends had more names, but there were so many I was looking forward to only to be disappointed by the final result: Razor Ramon, Big Bossman, Kidman, Lance Storm, Strikeforce, Sid, Deluxe Kevin Nash being shorter than Deluxe Classic HBK - that I don't regret selling off my Jakks Legends one bit.
The one thing that I really hope Mattel can crank out is managers. I'm not sure how we'll be able to get a BAF Paul Bearer without a retail line of Legends to encourage people to buy all of them, but the thought of in-scale managers would be the final nail in the Jakks' coffin. Failing to get managers from Mattel though and I'll have to figure out some way to make Brain, Fuji and Hart compatible with Mattel suit bodies...

I don't understand . . . why does it matter that Jakks had "the most complete roster of names ever made" if they were crap? The were out of scale, had ridiculous arms and huge heads. I don't care what character the figures were supposed to represent, they sucked!!
Why does it matter they had so many choices if the figures themselves were garbage?

Well, Mattel has given me almost all my favorites already. And with the exception of Superfly & Sarge Mattel's versions have all been my favorite of each.
Mattel's DM Hitman > Jakks Hitmans Mattel Road Warriors > Jakks RW Mattel's EG Piper > Jakks Piper Mattel's Orndorff > Jakks Mr Wonderful Mattel's Ultimate Warriors > Jakks Warriors Mattel's Demolition > Jakks Demolition Mattel's von Erich's > Jakks no Von erichs Mattel's L5 & AS Macho > Jakks no Macho
Now if Mattel just makes these - British Bulldogs Steiner Brothers young Hart Foundation Magnificent Muraco Bobby Heenan Pedro Morales barefooted Snuka 4 Horsemen (Flair & Barry) young Bob Backlund Tito Santana (blue trunks) Magnum TA Jesse Ventura David von Erich
I'll have all the guys I loved watching (minus Sting & Hogan) Of course that's not say I don't still like my Jakks CS, because I do and they are still displayed.

The thing with Jakks is that they basically just had to make a new headsculpt and slap it on existing parts and throw in a random accessory. That's why I feel they were able to get the variety of superstars, and up to 10 per set at that. Mattel, on the other hand, tries to get the best possible body choice and height for every legend, as well the unique accessories that go well with the figures. I give props to Jakks for giving us so many figures we thought we would have never gotten, but overall, I think Mattel's legends are the better figures.

I would have to say Mattel. Why? Mattel's figures are all in scale with each other, and they are elite bodied. Mattel doesn't recycle parts. Whereas with Jakks you have figures that are the same height with recycled parts and huge heads that aren't in proportion with the body. Yes Jakks made more legends than Mattel has and they were cheaper, but they were a low quality product compared to Mattel.
