I went to the smyths toystore close to me last night to pick some figs up for the last of my lil guys xmas presents and to see what i could add to my own colection and the shelves were FILLED with randy ortons best of 2011 elite and basic and a few other ppv series
so my question is, should mattel lay off making ortons for time being?
anywho managed to get an almost complete set of best of 2011 basic minus santino a couple of big shoe ss heritage and an e11 punk e11 mysterio and best of 2011 elite cena
thanks for reading

Guys like Orton, Triple H, Undertaker, John Cena......they are such shelfwarmers because first of all, they RARELY change their attire! So once a kid has a Randy Orton, Triple H, Undertaker or Cena, there isn't any reason to keep buying that same character over and over and over because essentially ALL of their figures look the same!
At some point, pretty much everybody who needs one of those characters HAS that character, and there is no reason to continue to make them unless they change something about their attire.

Yeah around me he's one of the easiest figures to find, but not to the extent of stores being filled with him. He's still being picked up by newbies at least.

Elite 9 Orton is everywhere around here. It seems like the guys who always shelf warm are the big names Cena, Orton, Mysterio, Undertaker etc. They might be heavier packed but I blame them for being the holdup on seeing new product.

Orton isn't too much of a shelf warmer around here. You can find him in some places, but he's honestly not a figure I see too commonly.

I posted something similar about this a few months ago and a lot of people argued with me and said I was wrong...
HOWEVER, the "big name" guys are always the ones on the shelf around here.

That's like asking Mattel to stop making Cena....it won't happen. Sadly they'll make 500 more because he sells, granted he's warming shelves, but that's because people already have versions of him. How many different Orton's can you make? Not many....so it is what it is. But they will make him the most. I'm sure his E12 figure will warm pegs. I don't want it, so there's one right there that will warm the pegs.

he is warming on 90% of the stores I go to in my area, Targets, Walmarts, TRUs, KMarts, anywhere, it drives me crazy because his Elite 9 is still there and now his BO2011 is right there next to it

The only place I've seen him "warming" the shelfs was the WM27 Orton at TRU. They'll be gone soon though, as they always are.

They'll all be gone by the new year. Just remember every day there's new collectors/kids getting their first WWE figures.
