In the mists of Rocker arrivals and pre-Black Friday finds, I got a little gem of a package from The1Dean70 today. He finished up my Ric Flair fix-ups with some absolutely perfect monogram stamping for them! I bet if you didn't know these were Jakks heads or that Flair himself wasn't under a Legends contract, you'd swear this was an official Mattel release. I sent Dean the parts he needed for the procedure, so when I got them back they needed to be reheated in order for me to put the fix-ups back together. I was worried that the hot water would damage the stamping, but not so - it's like an artist hand-painted them on with laser precision. To channel Booker T: HALE YEAH DAT'S FACTORY PRODUCTION RIGHT THERE! If you were on the fence before, the monograms completely seal the deal on these fix-ups, and I'd strongly encourage you to add them as a finishing touch. Thanks Decal Dean! P.S. MDT: Bring on Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard!!

they look great but I still don't understand why Dean couldn't just use decals for these and send them to people. i'm sure there's a good reason, but i'm just not seeing it.

Those look awesome. Wish I could get mine done but I know I never will. Good thing the robe covers it so I don't see it...lol.
And Assassin...I think Dean said something about the white not working right on the decals. He couldn't get it to print out and stay white when he put it on the figure. You could always see the color of the tights bleeding through the decal.

They look awesome.
When (if) Mattel eventually makes a Ric Flair, I don't know how it could get much better.

If I ever had a flair custom/fix up, I'd do the same and get the parts needed sent to dean for the RF monograms. But I'd rather just buy a custom flair, as it saves me time and hassle looking for parts. lol.
But man that is just sweet.

I believe it's a pain in the ass to do white decals. I worked with this sort of stuff for a summer a few years back. I don't entirely remember the details, but the guy who taught me mentioned white decals. Basically, when you design a logo to be printed up that has white lettering/designs, the printer doesn't place the actual white color on the decal paper. Instead, you just get the outline of the logo. You would actually have to paint the white on the figure so the "RF" letters appear white when you apply the decal. It can be tricky to do this, and still maintain a level of neatness. Dean may be able to explain it better, or perhaps used entirely different methods than myself. But this was my personal experience with white decals.

I'm sure I've seen white decal paper being sold (separately from clear decal paper) for this reason, so that the white is already there on the sheet...

I think while white decal paper would work, there's simply too much work involved in cutting out the "R" and "F"s, which needs to be done if the logos are printed on white. with the tights logo, its virtually impossible to trim out an exact outline such that only the rf is in white. you could print the logos on white decal paper on a background of the tights colour, but it might not necessarily match the shade of colour on the crotch and boots

Whose boots did you use for ur red flair? You can use George "animal" Steele's Red boots. I myself just got my flair part returned to me from Dean also and I also must say if you have a kitbash flair this is the way to go to complete it. Great pics Bandalero

Great pictures Bandy! The Nature Boy looks complete now. Some of you may be questioning the method of applying the RFs. This was fun project to figure out. I tried several different ways to make this work. First was the decals. nope. White will not print onto clear water-slide paper. The white backed paper will not work because you have no way to cut the RFs out neatly. Next I tried vinyl stickers but the detail was too small to cut out of that so that also was a bust. Next I went with heat transfer decals and they sucked because it melted the plastic trying to apply them. Finally~ I had success with the Pad Print machine. (It's what we use at work to put logos and whatnot on Mugs or glasses.) The result really is a "Factory look." I wish there was an easier way, believe me, pad printing is very time consuming, but its the only way I've found that works and still looks professional. I think Dean said something about the white not working right on the decals. He couldn't get it to print out and stay white when he put it on the figure. You could always see the color of the tights bleeding through the decal. CORRECT. For those who were curious about the boots: Red Flair boots = simple George Steele boot swap Yellow Flair boots = L6 Texas Tornado shins + L5 Macho Man feet The monograms really makes these fix-ups feel legit, and it also highlights the void on my *hint* NWA Dusty Rhodes trunks *hint*

There looking awesome. DecalDean should start selling these on here (the whole Flair figure I mean).
Would this method work on a larger scale? Say printing tight design for someone like Jericho?
