Earlier this year I was lucky enough to travel to El Salvador with a hand full of students and a couple of teachers from my high school. The trip was for Habitat for Humanity, we went to El Salvador to help build a house for a less fortunate family. It was a truly unreal and eye opening experience for me. I find myself feeling bad when I complain about how much money I have or things of that nature because for that week I got to experience what it was like to have nothing like allot of third world countries have.
We were there for 10 days in total including travel. For 5 of the ten days we were at the job site working our asses off. Shoveling dirt, bending rubard, laying brick, etc. The work day was long and hard but did it sure ever feel good knowing we were making a difference in the world.
So I raise the question to you WFers, Do you guys ever do any sort of charity work? Or have you ever taken a trip like this to help someone in need? If so explain how it effected your life.
