If you guys remember, about six months ago Zack Ryder was very close to being released from the WWE. And back in July C.M Punk was considering leaving the WWE. But now that they both stayed, C.M Punk is arguably the top guy in the WWE and Ryder is one of the top mid carders. What I'm getting to is, what do you guys think it would be like if they had both left?

We would have missed out on CM Punk becoming a top star, CM Punk would have missed out on becoming a top star, and Ryder... well I didn't know he was close to being released, six months ago was when his rise in popularity kick started.

I don't understand how Zack Ryder is one of the top mid-carders? WWE have not put him in a meaningful feud yet. Even if he won the US Championship off of Dolph Ziggler, they still wouldn't have put him over. Character depth, engaging storylines and bringing the best out of each individual's traits is something that makes pro wrestling exciting and unfortunately, WWE have forgotten how to use most of these.
I would, however, agree that Zack Ryder is OVER. But that's because of his own doing.
If they had both left, it would have been like it is now, only worse.

What I should say, is how he WILL BE one of the top mid carders. Look at how a few months ago he was just on Superstars and you'd never hear about him on another show. Now you see him on Raw almost every week.

His character is dangerous though - they could easily turn it into a joke character. I think they need to continue to play up the whole 'it's his boyhood dream' thing and maybe give him a meaningful feud with Dolph Ziggler in order to ready Ziggler for Punk at the Rumble..

If Ryder had never come up with the internet champion and all that, he definitely wouldn't be where he is now. I also think that Ziggler isn't quite ready for a feud with Punk. Him and Jack Swagger becoming tag team champs would probably be good for him right now.

Well the WWE never actually said he was going to be released but it looked that way. He was barely used and wasn't doing great on Superstars.
