So, I have a small Mattel collection, and to be honest, It's far more figures than I actually want. Some guys - Sheamus, Batista etc. - I never truly intended to have as part of my collection. A lot of spur-of-the-moment buying led to a few purchases that I regret.
I display my most beloved figures and relegate the rest to a box that rests somewhere in my attic. So I got to thinking... My figures are all in mint condition, and I know there are kids out there that are less fortunate than myself. So why don't I find a charity that donates toys to kids who need them, and use my unwanted figures to give some kids an awesome Christmas.
Anyway, I wanted to ask if anyone else has/wants to donate figures in a similar manner?
I've seen some pretty awesome examples of kindness in my short time here, so I figured a few of you might have some cool stories to tell.

I work as a 911 dispatcher, and a few of my cop friends went to a house a few weeks ago, the the kids had no toys. Their mom is a good person who just doesn't have the extra income to buy them, but the kids are so grounded and they understand that. Well, my co-workers and I are buying them toys and clothes that they really need for Christmas. The 2 boys are getting Nerf guns and a few of my figures becuase they love the WWE. Wish I could do more for them because they are great kids!!

My girlfriend helped run a charity through a high school a few years back. They took toys that were used, so I boxed up a ton of loose figures and donated them. Why not right? It was a cool thing to do and I just hope some kids were pumped to receive them.

My church is doing a toy drive where you pick an ornament off a christmas tree and it has someone's age, sex,and what they are interested in, so I'm going to pick one who would like a wrestling figure and bring in one of the mystery figures I got from RSC.

Yeah, my daughter (8 years old) and I always get a couple toys to donate to Toys For Tots every year. This year she picked out a Monster High Frankie Stein doll, and I picked up a Best of 2011 John Cena basic to donate. So, hopefully there'll be a couple more happy kids this Christmas!

NWA Championship Wrestling from Hollywood was doing a Toys For Tots donation with marines there to collect the toys. I brought some, and they raised a total of 400 toys.

It got me thinking about finding another charity this year and donating some old loose Jakks figures.

It's awesome that your daughters getting involved! Cena is a good choice, too. I'm probably going to buy a couple of Cena's to donate, myself. It will make up for some of the heels I'm donating, lol.

It's always more fun buying items when you know the money is going to a good cause. It's nice to know independent promotions are just as kind as the bigger promotions!

I plan to donate my old wrestling figures here in my community too and I just need to find one place to donate my figures to... Hope I can find one... The feel of giving and the feel of planning to give is an unbelievably good feeling...

Last year, MicroDiva and I donated a bunch of extra figures and dolls to Toys for Tots. Like the OP, I sometimes end up with extra impulse buys that are just taking up space here. I don't have as much to give this year but I plan on donating what I can. I've got a leftover FlexForce talking Triple H (Was gonna use the tables but the TLC set came out) and some MOC Basics. It can also be a good opportunity to buy some pegwarmers on sale and give those away. TRU usually has the donation boxes out by now, so it's a good time to drop off some cool holiday gifts!

I did this, this year. I gave a box full of magazines,dvd's,4 figures to moc,and last but not least a kids replica Undisputed title with cloth bag to a 8 year old who had nothing. The mom and dad work very hard but can barely pay the bills in this economy so the kids go without and understand that the parents are doing everything they can right now. The mom has kept in touch with me and told me that he has kept the magazines in the sleeves I had them in and in the box does not want to get them messed up,been watching the dvd's like crazy and carries around the title everywhere. It felt very good to help someone especially a kid who might not be getting anything for Christmas.

I was an elevator site mechanic at a hospital for 4+ years...there was a modernization project at the hospital so for over a year or so there were 8 of us on site everyday doing various projects. my partner and i were talking to admin one day about xmas and they said they had to cut alot of festivities out due to economy etc. anyway we got permission to get a head count of the children who werent healthy enough to go home in the wing that is for semi-permanent patients and pooled in money among the 8 of us to buy each of them a gender specific gift. the fattest one of us even dressed as santa claus as we walked around the wing. although we did very little leg work it was really appreciated by the parents and the kids were very happy. i will never forget it for the rest of my life...
