You could try to get him the Elite 13 Cody later when it comes out in retail and just tell him to wait.

I was just saying the other day..."I remember when it made sense to buy of RSC"
Ringsides prices were above retail, but when you bought figures it wound up being a better deal because you didn't have to waste gas and time. Back in the good old Jakks Classic days.

It was $24.99 on pre-order, unfortunately it only goes up from that point if it's in demand.
And don't bother asking RSC about their justification. I love Ringside, they have great customer service, and I love getting stuff I really want ahead of time, but they are going to give you a cookie cutter answer about shipping from China and covering the cost of the rest of the set. If you think that's bad, you should look back and see what they were charging for Basic 7 Sheamus when that was hot. It is what it is, they have it, you want it, they can charge what they want. However, the do pay wholesale pricing for the figures so even with EMS shipping charges they are still making as much as, if not more than, scalpers on Ebay.
I deal with online retail, in the millions of dollars, on a daily basis at my job. I know how the business works with volume shipping and whole sale pricing because I do it, and I just promise you it's not even worth getting into it with them.

I wonder if anyone actually pays the incredibly high prices or will they just wind up sitting on them for a while. In an unrelated story I was at the mall and there's a kiosk with wrestling figures so. I see elite 13 ziggler and elite 12 bryan so I ask the guy how much nd he said 40 bucks each! I was expecting him to say maybe 25 for bryan and 30 for ziggler. I just walked away which I'm glad I did because I found an elite 12 kane for 15 bucks later that day.

Where's the Whiners' Battle Cry of "Scalpers and Chumlees!"? If this were a private seller making a profit everyone on here would be pissing out of their eyes that profits are bad and "scalpers" shouldn't make money off buyers, but since it's RSC....must be cool, huh? Scalpers also don't pay an arm and a leg to have the product as quickly as they can for their loyal customers. Like it has been said many times, RSC pays for next day air from the Mattel factory to have the figures as soon as possible. The only thing a scalper does is wakes up at 8am and hops in their mini van and goes to Toys R Us to grab up all the good figures from the shelves and double the price on ebay. RSC is a business, scalpers just do it for the extra money. If you want RSC to start charging retail prices, you can say goodbye to them within a month, and also goodbye to this forum. I really wish people understood even just a little bit about how things work. I wish fan boys like you could admit that people who sell on eBay are doing the EXACT same thing as RSC. I have no problem with RSC or "Chumlees" making a profit. Isn't that what sites like eBay are for? Who would sell on eBay just to lose money? Really. If someone doesn't like the price, then they need to learn patience and wait for them to hit retail. Example, I refused to pay over retail for Vickie Guerrero, either on RSC or eBay. I waited PATIENTLY, and today I scored 2 at Wal-Mart.

I wouldn't worry about Elite 13.....I don't know of the case breakdown, but I can't imagine any of those figures will be hard to find at retail once Elite 13 hits.
Rey Mysterio? I doubt his Elite will be hard to find. There have been SO many. Cody Rhodes? He's more popular now than when Elite 3 came out, but I'm not worried. Big Show? With no title belts? (Only reason his Elite 10 sold, or ppl stole the belts) Sheamus? The WWE belt is the only reason his Elite 8 sold, and it was still easy to find. Edge? His figs never sell, even though his Elite 8 figure was AWESOME. Dolph Ziggler (maybe bc of the belt, or ppl will STEAL the belt...that makes me mad)
Sorry, but except for Ziggler with the shiny version of the WHC, I don't see ANY of those characters being hard to find at retail. No sense in paying online prices for this set. Plus, no new characters. All have had Elites before. Some, very recently.

^^^Good points. The elites have a track record of being relatively easy to find with good store distribution. I admit I paid $30 for E8 Sheamus...stupid move, will never do that again.

I'd better check out my local stores then.

Their main source of income comes from their job. Scalping is just extra money on the side. RSC is a business that turns all of their profit and makes all of their money from selling wrestling figures, not to mention they are a specialty store that sells ONLY wrestling figures/merchandise. So, in order to stay in business and make a profit, they have to do some drastic things sometimes, like sell a certain figure in a set for much more than retail, when another shelf warmer in the set might not sell well at all. I personally have passed on a lot of things from RSC because of the price (more recently RR Heritage, Macho Man battle pack, etc.) and will wait to find them in retail, but I still understand why they have the prices they have, and will continue to be a loyal customer to them. I've gotten figures from their preorders MONTHS before they were reported to hit retail, so for a few extra bucks, to me that's worth it. Not to mention wasting time driving around looking for the stuff coming up empty handed. No disrespect towards you, I just don't see how people can directly compare scalpers and RSC, when RSC is a business that relies 100% on their website to make money.

Just because RSC has a tax ID doesn't mean their profits are more respectable or decent than a guy who, say, has a day job and sells fig on eBay during his free time to supplement his income and provide for his family. I'm not knocking your POV, I just hate how people come here to knock scalpers, then brag about how many figures they bought from RSC at well over retail. That mentality as a whole is disingenuous.

They have the toys and are selling them. They can charge whatever they want. They can charge a thousand bucks if they so desire. Supply and demand. They're charging tgat price because they believe that there is a market of people who will pay that. They're aren't pricing them that high because they think that they won't be able to sell them and they'll just have a warehouse full of Cody Rhodes figures. Some genius determines what is the highest possible amount they can charge before that price tag starts to scare away the consumer and presto, they set the price accordingly. Only thing we can do is not buy something that we think is way overpriced.
