Same ol', same ol'..... I know that I am repeating myself once more, but people should stop complaning that much! In fact, you should be more then happy that you even have the chance to buy Elites for this price, taking into consideration this: www.toysrus.de/product/index.jsp?productId=4923871Yes, that is EUR 25,- for just ONE (1!) Elite figure which is USD 32,- Besides this, be very happy to be able to walk into a store and find (current) Elite (12) figures, as we only have Elite 8 figures....

Also, one really can't blame the stores either. By no means am I a big fan of these places but they have to make money so they need to charge a certain amount to keep their doors open. I imagine that Mattel's production costs have gone up. I noticed that even the figures on Matty Collector have gone up in price. That is half true. If the upper level corporate employees sacrificed half their salaries then you could almost double the average worker at Wal-Mart and Target. The rising prices are in part due to production cost increases and in part the stores wanting to keep a profit margin that allows for increased corporate pay and shareholder dividends. When you pay more it is not to keep the doors open, its to stop the rich bungholes who invested heavily into the store chain from complaining about low yield dividends and profit margins. I passed on the TRU series because none of them looked all that great. Now I know why that woman was yelling at the checkout. There was no price tag up for them, the peg they were on was for the Best of 2011 Elites. I can now cross Target off my list of places to go completely, $12 for a Basic, $18 for an Elite and $10 for G.I. Joes is to expensive for hunks of plastic.

Yeah, I have a hard time shelling out that type of money for a to that I may or may not replace in the next few months. For legends/flashbacks, maybe but current roster, Negative.

I stopped collecting back when the price of Jakks Classic Superstars went over $10. I am not paying over $10 for an action figure. Needless to say i didnt jump onboard with Mattel and their even higher base prices. Sorry Mattel. I eventually finished my CS collection from ringside sales and ebay at a fraction of retail prices and i now have a complete set of Jakks CS (all retail + most exclusives)
It was hard breaking myself from buying but I did... Its just the principality of the matter. Jakks got greedy because the end was near. Mattel took that greed ball and are running as far as you will let them go with it. I personally drew the line at $10 and have stood my ground.
Basic $7 Elite $10 Tag $14
Done.

Yeah it is what it is. I enjoy collection these far to much to stop over a few dollars here and there. I will be more selective on what I buy, but I wont stop collecting by any means.

If you have the mentality of "what's one more dollar!?" then they can keep raising the prices and we'll keep having to fork over more cash for what's a pure profit price hike for Target (and TRU). $18 in-store for an Elite is bulls****, plain and simple. I hope my local Target has fun getting rid of their 4 E12 Randy Orton's that have been there for the past 2 weeks at that price.

I've gotta agree prices are a bit high, and its not just for wrestling figures. Other figures are a bit more expensive than what we should be paying. I started out buying complete series of Classic Superstars plus an occasional current superstar. Over time I cut back to just certain Classics and the occasional current superstar. Then I moved out and got married and have since cut down buying even more. Certain priorities come first, such as house payments, bills, etc.
That being said, even though I only buy the occasional figure, sometimes, more often than not, price determines whether I buy or pass on most of the figures. Its not really a case of being in a situation where I can't afford an extra $1 on the figures, nor is it being cheap, its just having priorities in order and deciding (as someone said earlier) is this piece of plastic really worth the extra money.
To me $15 - $17 is a little high for an elite, but I understand that you get some accessories with them. And I will still buy one every now and then. I bought the Savage and Warrior Defining Moments, cause they were 2 of my favorites, but I don't see paying $20 per figure. Its because of this that I passed on the Rockers, $40 was a bit expensive. My wife was nice enough to pick them up as a Christmas present for me however. Granted $10 was for shipping, but that's still $40 total for the 2 figures.
I remember when all action figures were about $5 and under. Then around the time that the Batman Forever figures came out, everything started going up to around $8, and I noticed this as a kid. Now we're at a time were roughly $10 is the price per figure. I know production costs go up, but just as a companies production costs go up so does the cost of everything that we're buying. So again, its about priorities and if you have the extra cash to spend.
If you do have the extra cash, go for it. And enjoy them for the rest of us. If you don't have the extra cash or decide that you've got better things that you need the money for, then good job to you for taking care of your responsibilities first.

TOYBIZ Marvel Legends Broke the Mold not MATTEL or WWE, and they sold thier figures for $7.49 Retail. ToyBIZ bought Marvel and saved them from Bankruptcy and brought them out of theHole to make a come back. Jakks has Always sucked with wwe figs but lets be real Mattel and wwe are really pushing it.

I gotta disagree on that one. Jakks BCA figures have been my favorite line of wrestling figures of all time, followed shortly behind by Jakks Deluxe Aggression. I will agree though that the Marvel Legends figures were awesome. That first Spiderman figure (technically a Spiderman Classic i think instead of Marvel Legend, but I believe Legends spawned from the SpiderMan classics) was unbelievable.

I also collected the original Marvel Legends line, from the beginning to the bitter end, I bought every single figure I put my hands on. Unprecedented detail and articulation, several accessories, and a freaking full on COMIC BOOK!!! the packaging was awesome, and there were always awesome chase / variant figures to hunt down... All for $7.49!!!!!! I would buy them by the case if i found a fresh case, then sell my extras on ebay. It was the most fun I ever had collecting. Then toybiz lost the rights / went under and Hasbro picked it up... Then guess what? Prices went through the roof! The basic marvel legends now are around $15 here, & even the half pint GI Joe sized marvel legends retail for $10.99! WTF! I saw a 2 pack for $29.99 at wal-mart.
It's just not worth it anymore.

Backward azz priorities is far too common some times. Like I dont get how alot of people have flashy cars and badazz rims but when I pass and see it parked at some $hytie 2 bed room shack makes me wonder. And all the dead beat dads who have nice expensive things but cant even spring for dippers for their own Mistakes. I have money and work hard for it, but NOT for all of it to go to toys. I see Neca figures with better artic, paint apps and accessorys for $13-$15 ssooooo, things can be done. I understand the way you think I used to too before I got married, had 2 kids and now I have insurince and savings for every thing. Have you seen the price for INSURINCE these days!? my kids will also go to college so I have a lot of saving to do. I was just letting the communitie know about my concernes I see things changing and not for the good. Negitivity No, realist and parent who buys toys for his kids too YES. Agree'd. I love to see what companies are putting out and such, but the price of toys in general is nuts! I used to be a collector during the Jakks era, but it has gotten to be too expensive to justify spending the cash for when I have a wife, kid, house, cars, motorcycle, full time job, and website. There's no real time to enjoy a collection that potentially gets ruined by storage. The last one I ever looked at and considered buying was the WM Rock (I'm not much of a wrestling fan anymore... just started to tune in for The Rock and like what CM Punk is up to these days), but saw the price TRU was charging and said F that. $20+ bucks for an action figure is ridiculous! Instead? I bought some Rapunzel toys for my daughter which gives me MUCH more enjoyment than any Wrestling action figure ever has. There was a time for me, when I loved more than anything going on the hunt for toys, but having a child myself I find that I get more enjoyment out of having a nice home, loaded with a variety of toys and games for her to have and enjoy. I still collect a few items (Joker, Harley, Movie Props) here and there, write for my own Toy review site, but my days of collecting wrestling action figures are over. Having said that, I still enjoy visiting and plan to post some custom work in the boards down the road.

It's just a few bucks. Not that big of a deal. Inflation, cost of materials, blah blah, it's not rocket science: prices will rise. It happens. You know, you don't have to buy them all. I buy the ones I like and it doesn't break me. If price is so important, try ebay. You can get most figures under $10 on ebay. And K-Mart has awesome sales.

It's the principality. I make more than enough to afford whatever I want. I don't think twice about spending a few grand on a good Gibson or ESP guitar, because the price matches the item value. I'm fine with that. However, I refuse to support an obviously over priced toy line. It's a freaking' action figure! I'm not paying $20 for one action figure.

Seriously! Screw this $1 more crap. Now its more like $5.00 more. It's sad but true. Prices are rediculous and not only for wrestling toys at Target(originally around $17 near me). It's now $10 for a small Gi JOE figure and the Batman 2 pack figures(originally $30) are now $35 plus tax. Good thing I only invest in one toyline.
