Well I stopped at a target last night with my family, went to the toy section and to my surprise saw 3 whole sets of Elite 12s sitting on the pegs I jumped at a papa shango and another Kane for moc. Soon after my joy faded to dissapointment, and I noticed target is now pricing all Elites at $17.99!?. So I go to a price cheaker to conferm and yes this was the new price so with my wife and kids right next to me looking to see what I would do....I put them back. Next we went to toys R Us and I found 4 BOPPV Cenas and one HHH, and HHH and Bret are the only 2 I want from this set. I already know the price to these thanks to early posts, so I picked it up and looked at it and debated if this figure in my hand is really worth almost $24 Retail? Well to me No its not... So in the car I Felt something I have never felt while collecting figures and it was anger and to be honest a little depressed. I told my wife I might have to give up collecting MATTEL WWE FIGURES and I blame Target Toys r us and MATTEL. oh well I guess I could always try to find stuff loose for a little cheaper but usauly not much.

My local Target is 21.59 for the elites they had elite 12. When I pre-ordered Papa Shango back in July from Ringside I paid 21.99. The days of buying Elite figures of guys I'm the fence about is over 15.99 I might have considered Del Rio, Gabriel, Daniel Bryan almost 24.00 with tax I'll pass. I'm still going to collect but I'm going to be a lot more selective in which stuff I purchase. TRU is no better at 19.49 for Elites.
Kmart is the best at 15.99 but there hit and miss you don't know what sets they'll get or skip.
I bought 3 Shangos 2 loose 1 to display by my computer and 1 for display with my wrestling figures and 1 moc
20.99 for the TRU BOPPV seems reasonable for the build a figure parts and the accessories compared to target

Huh, I guess Targets are all different. They are $15.99 at ours (as of yesterday). They had a TON of E12 Ortons, a few of the rest -- no Kane or Bryan.

I've seen Elites at Targets recently ranging from $15.99 - $20.99. So I wouldn't give up so soon. Go look in a different Target first.

Yeah if the elites figures go over 20 bucks I might have to stop collecting too. At least become even more selective than I am now. I wouldnt turn down the chance to get a Mattel Hogan or Flair or a few other ones like Doink but I hear ya bro. its a expensive hobby and not for everybody.

I'm definitely with ya. I paid 17.99 for Kane yesterday, but I'm definitely not going to be getting every Elite I have remote interest in from now on. Only new characters or very drastic attire changes.

My Walmarts (the two that actually still carry elites) have upgraded to $16.97 (a dollar more than before) and two targets I visited in the last few weeks were $17.99. I already tell myself I won't buy elites (or any figure for that matter) except for absolute favorites and memorable attitude era legends (Kane), but even that is getting a bit pricey. I actually wanted the flashback Edge so bad that I payed 24 bucks to get him shipped to save the gas, time, and hunting pains. Just $6 more than retail is cool by my standards.
If the retail price gets jacked up higher, it will get to a point where I'm even more selective. I'm not gonna say I'll bow out of Mattel collecting just yet. But if not even we collectors will pay 20 bucks a piece, imagine how parents and kids will react. The line will die out with a lack of interest. And Elite 4 Finlay with a destroyed box will sit in Walmart at $17+ for eternity.

the good thing about all this is it might actually make mattel drop the prices later, i mean it's making hardcore collectors (the ones who keep it going really) want to stop or cut back.
if the collectors slow down what do you think its going to do to the random moms and dads who buy one a week for the kids?
i honestly hope it comes back to bite them in the as after the whole "we will never raise price" thing, i understand resources go up in price, but $3 at some stores is not just resource spike it's greed as well.

Those prices are not ridiculous at all. You do realize Elites were always $15.99-$16.99 right? So what's another $1? Some people act like there losing there house mortgage on a dollar its sad really. Also those TRU elites are $20.99 and include the michael Cole build a figure parts. so your actually paying for the michael cole as well. If ya don't want Cole then don't buy that figure. There are plenty of other Triple H figures out there to get that are elite or basic. You can't blame the stores and everyone else for you being cheap. I'm sorry but that's what it comes down to, you being cheap and not wanting to spring $1 for an elite or expecting a michael cole for free and trying to blame everyone else but yourself. Now if the figures cost $30 in the store, then i could see a problem with complaining or being angry, but $17.99 is not a steep price compared to what there going for online and the demand thats in for them.

I also found 2 fresh cases of E12 at Trget. I already pick up Shango but wanted Bryan. When I saw the price tag at $17.99, I put it back. Just last week they were price $15.99 but only had Orton. It's better to preorder from RSC or wait until they some type of sale to buy these figures. It also hit me that I'm done with buying and selling my collection little by little.

the price isn't that bad here, the dearest shop in scotland is 14.99. i'm gonna get in to the habit of pre ordering full sets online though, save the pain of figure hunting.

All this negativity. Soon Elites are going to join Legends, EG, and DM . Tell me about it if everyone is this hard up for a $1 to keep buying, they shouldn't even be collecting in the first place. $17.99 is a delight compared to what i been paying online for the last year

I understand what you are saying but it's not just these that are going up, everything is. Toys, food, gas etc. It just comes down to what you are or aren't willing to pay for something. I saw Elite 12 in my Target yesterday as well. I almost bought Kane but not at the $17.99 price. However, if they would of had Papa Shango, I would have bought him for sure.
Also, one really can't blame the stores either. By no means am I a big fan of these places but they have to make money so they need to charge a certain amount to keep their doors open. I imagine that Mattel's production costs have gone up. I noticed that even the figures on Matty Collector have gone up in price.

Backward azz priorities is far too commen some times. Like I dont get how alot of people have flashy cars and badazz rims but when I pass and see it parked at some $hytie 2 bed room shack makes me wonder. And all the dead beat dads who have nice expensive things but cant even spring for dippers for their own Mistakes. I have money and work hard for it, but NOT for all of it to go to toys. I see Neca figures with better artic, paint apps and accessorys for $13-$15 ssooooo, things can be done. I understand the way you think I used to too before I got married, had 2 kids and now I have insurince and savings for every thing. Have you seen the price for INSURINCE these days!? my kids will also go to college so I have a lot of saving to do. I was just letting the communitie know about my concernes I see things changing and not for the good. Negitivity No, realist and parent who buys toys for his kids too YES.

Everything is costing more now a days so def gotta more aware of spending. All these stores are charging more, even online retailers so I've def cut back on collecting.
