Looking past all of the technicalities such as being employed by other companies, on bad terms with WWE, etc. I think a cool idea for a series would be a before and after type series. It'd be 2-packs of the same guy but him as different characters. Guys like HHH and his rich guy snob character and "The Game" character, Stone Cold as "stunnin' steve" and "the Texas Rattlesnake," Rocker Shawn and HBK Shawn, Real American Hulk and Hollywood Hogan. Maybe some even more obscure ones like Vinny Vegas and Big Sexy or Isaac Yankem and Kane. Do you guys think this would be a good idea, you know if it wasn't for all the minor details about why it couldn't happen.

Jakks was going to release a line like this, I believe it was going to be called "Now & Then". There's even proto pics floating around of Triple H & the Rock. This was during the TTL days.

that's really awesome! i'd love to see something like this. It would be cool to get a Greenwich snob HHH and 2012 Triple H , Debut Kane and 2012 Kane , Debut Shawn Michaels and Retirement Shawn , Debut Cena and 2012 Cena . . . Great Idea ! Cheers

I would prefer a 90's Era Shawn and then like a mid 2000's era Shawn. Maybe like WrestleMania 14 and then WrestleMania 22. I wouldn't mind a 92/93 Era version and then a 96/97 Era version, which would actually be more ideal.
I think it's a cool concept. You could do current Dolph Ziggler and then Nicky. And yes, this was a Jakks concept that never ended up getting released. I think it would be something unique for Mattel to get out there. However, Mattel seems to be moving away from niche ideas like this so we stand a better chance of getting past incarnations of guys in some other way imo.

This could work for a handful of superstars (HBK, UT, SCSA) but I am pretty sure that WWE wants us to forget about some of these previous gimmicks (Dolph being Spirit Squad Nicky, Ryder being an Edge Head?) It would definitely target collectors more than kids, though.
