I am just curious. I would gladly pay whatever price it is for Andre if he was in stores. I just will wait on buying him online for a more expensive price. Maybe it is something fairly obvious that I am just not getting but I don't see why Matty Collector can't price their figures normally.

IMO, I would assume they are producing a smaller quantity than what goes to mass retail. So, it would be due to exclusivity of the product. Even if the production numbers weren't lower, the fact that it's not at retail and seen as a "special purchase" allows them the opportunity to raise prices - hoping people will pay the higher cost.
Long story short -- only place you can get it, so they charge out the butt

Like the above poster said. I also think it comes out to the same as if you bought it in the store almost since legends costed around 17$ retail with tax.Only thing i don't like is the in shipping charges.

Low production runs cost the company more than the higher production runs that mass retail toys have. So it cost a little more for them to make, so naturally they charge us more.

Yes Mattel has said in the past seeing it a much lower production run they have to raise the price to justify making the figures.

They also know that the hardcore collector is going to buy from Matty and are willing to pay more. I know I would have paid $100 for Andre The Giant before shipping. I would have had to skip a few meals to pay for it but I would have done it. LOL

same reason why RSC can charge their prices. Plus can you imagine how much it would be for it here?

Now looking at RSC's Wrestlemania Heritage Ultimate Warrior (a basic figure) at $24.99; simply outrageous!

It's only $4-5 dollars more than retail, the shipping is where your money is going!!!

Yeah I would agree with the lower production numbers. In theory though, it should be a higher profit margin for Mattel since they are selling directly to consumers. They may sell figures at like $6-8 a piece to Target at wholesale costs, but direct to consumer on Matty they should make double their mark-up.

If there is a legend where they shouldn't make low production numbers of, it is Andre in my book. I think he should've hit retail this one time since afterall, he is Andre.

Andre was originally supposed to be released with an Elite scaled 80's ring, but when Mattel said the Elite scale ring didn't meet their sales expectations it was canceled. Then he was supposed to be in Legends Series 7, but when they Legends line was dropped by mass retail they moved him to MattyCollector

Probably, because it's an exclusive. Just like Ringside Exclusives are more expensive than retail.

less figures available. Its good though because it has a better shot of going up in value down the road than most retail figures

I find it hard to believe that Andre wasn't already produced and they tucked him away for a year and finally decided to release him now. I just can't see myself paying $30 for that figure.

If I can't afford the extra $3 for a figure that comes out every two months, I might want to reevaluate my financial situation.

I say he's well worth the price but Mattel imo is stupid to release him as an online exlcusive on a site that No One knows about. He should have been their first Flashback figure.
Andre the Giant perhaps the most recognizable name in Wrestling history, being sold at maybe 5000 units on a site that no one knows about, instead of being made at maybe 20,000 units , being sold in retail and probably selling well, bringing more attention to the Line of figures.
oh well, Its a great way to kick off the online exclusives and may bring more attention to what may be a sinking ship in need of saving (the other 5 exclusives) but imo a blunder , Andre should have been sold in retail to try and Save the bigger line that was bombed by crappy character selection (legends , now flashbacks)

why is Matty's shipping 5 dollars more than Mattel shop? some questions are just not meant to be understood.
