Has anyone bought up all the shelf warmers at their particular Target/Walmart, just to clear up space and then return them to a different store? If the shelves all of a sudden are empty, the store would have to reorder. My Target is pretty good with elites. They were with the legends too. The problem is they always seem to skip an elite set because of clogged shelves. Today I saw the same 8 E12 Orton and 2 Delrio figs that I have seen for the last 6 weeks. 6 weeks! Come on now. The same 3 flexforce champion 2 packs as well. They don't move. I was standing there with Orton in my hand, thinking about buying it just to move a fig. Then it dawned on me, I should buy them all and return them to a different store! When a new set of elite figs hits, the hunt is on. For about two weeks I have to stalk target not to miss them. But then that's it. All the wrestling figure customers already got what they needed and now the figs warm pegs. Does anyone buy them all up just to move them? I wonder if I did it would it lead to my Target ordering E13, know what I mean?

Not sure what you mean here, you buy all the figures on the shelf just so the new editions of Elite figures come out there's space for them? please clarify if this isn't correct. Anyways if this is the case no I've never purchased figures just for the sake of making another little boy cry when his John Cena figure is gone. I think its also rather selfish of you to do so just to clear the shelf because you basically ruined the chances of someone else taking one of those figures who actually want it. Your one of the only people I know who actually does this..
Edit: Oh right right, but still its still kind of ludicrous that you do that. Unless you want to have a giveaway with the three extra CM Punk figures you have. You know, "The Cult of Personality"

I wouldn't buy all the figures or even that one if I already have it, it's just not worth the trouble for me!!!

Haha I haven't, but I have thought about it. Problem for me doing that is I visit most of the stores anyways, so it would just be a matter of picking which stoe would get clogged up. lol. Chill.

I've never thought about doing it because it's seems like too much trouble to get a new series. I always hear about collectors doing it with ML, DCUC and other toylines though.

Nah because my Walmart barely carries any figs as is. I always thought I was the only collector in my area but apparently there must be a bunch of others as well. Rather than goign through all that trouble, I just Order them online. I never really buy any at retail at all. Plus there is always that chance you buy them and go to return them and they say well why are you returning so many of the same item? They could tell you that your receipt says there not from th at store and they wont take them there, i have had that happen before to.

This has been mentioned on other boards too. I tried this with elite Kozlov back when E11 was starting to show up. He had been the only elite at my store for what seemed like a year so I bought him. Finally those red scanners said none in aisle or stock. A Few weeks later I was pissed to see Best Of 2011. A little while after that E12 was stocked but I think that was chain wide for X-Mas.
In theory, this should work. But why hasn't Target ordered new basics? It's been months of empty pegs.

In theory, this should work. But why hasn't Target ordered new basics? It's been months of empty pegs. Sometimes stores have a stock ordering system where it orders a certain amount of stock based on sales over the last 5 weeks. If there's no sales history, but none in stock, the system sometimes only orders the amount based on the sales history (which in most cases would be 1). If the system is only ordering 1, but the manufacturer sends them in boxes of 8/12, then the stock won't be replenished. I don't know if this is the same for the stores you're talking about, but it was the case in a store I used to work at. As for the idea, yeah, it's a good one, but it also might cause the stock system to order more cases than normal to meet the demand. If this is the case and there is no room on the shelf, the stock will be kept in the overstock location. If the set sucks and is a slow seller, the shop will still have all that stock, so when the slow selling set finally does sell out, the cases of the same sets of figures will be used to refill the shelves, rather than new sets being ordered in. Again, the slow selling set knocks the weekly sales amount and the re-order level is again dropped and the supplies aren't replenished.

No way! For the record consider yourself lucky, around my area I haven't seen anything new, the last line my targets got were Elite 9, the only figs that are new that my TRU has are the BOPPV. I'm glad I stumbled across RSC or else I'd be another jaded member talking $h!t about distribution issues.

I don't think it works that way. Plus, I don't imagine any store will let you bring 8 Ortons in for a refund.

I've always wanted to buy them all, wait for them to restock, and then return everything. I've never been totally raged by a store to do this though. Especially since I'd have to keep checking to see if they restocked, and bring everything with me each time.
Not ideal but if a store is really stuck you could try it. They might get mad though.

Sounds like a really lame idea. So much work just for some figures, no?

Considering Wal-Mart is the only store that accepts returns without a receipt, and even then only lets you do it three times per year, I don't see how this would be possible, unless you are buying from one Target or TRU or Wal-Mart, and returning to another Wal-Mart, TRU, or Target.
Considering how the store shelves at many stores will go empty for months at a time if everything sells, I think there's a bigger problem at work.

Yeah I think it's a bad idea you ever thought they just have another set of Elite 12 somewhere in the back still. If you buy all the Orton's they can just re-stock Elite 12. So it's really risky and a gamble.

I think you would look psychotic buying like 8 Rand Orton figures....and then you would look like an even crazier person trying to return them all.
It's time for us to just accept that Mattel's distribution is totally flawed, and the fact that they put the same 6 guys in literally every series, it doesn't help that stores have so much shelf warmers and don't want to order more.

I have done it at Target and it works great, to be honest. I have never done it with Wrestling figures, but I have done it with DC Classics. If I am going out of town, I will purchase the pegwarmers and return them out of town. I would recommend waiting until you hear that new figures are hitting Target (no reports of any Elites beyond 12 on the shelves from what I have seen) before you do, otherwise you will get more of the older figures.

Nope. My area WalMarts don't carry anything except Rumblers & FlexForce and the occassonal Basics. They only have Elites during the holiday (Nov/Dec) and then it's back to just FF & Rumblers. I have to ro 40 minuntes north or west to find a WalMart that carries them. And my Targets and TRU get the new stuff pretty regularly so I only buy what I want.
