Ok so last Tues, I take a bike ride to my Walmart to see if any of Elite 13 was in. I look, all I see is a 13 Rey. I take the figure and bring it to an associate and asked if they have more of this wave in the back and if they don't, do they know when the next shipment will be in. The guy says "We have a shipment coming in tomorrow and we have 11 of this figure in the back" (11 REYS!!!!!!!) So I go to TRU and Kmart thursday, TRU has LOADS of Cenas and Mysterios of all kinds. Few of the BOPPV Basics, (Only Henry and Cena but I don't care for that series) Kmart had just a couple of Basics of Randy, Show, Cena, Rey and the same process repeats for Elites except Show. Next day, take a 2nd look at Walmart, All of 13 except Ziggler and Rhodes but 2 of the rest and 1 edge (guessing Edge rhodes and Ziggler are 1 per case?) Next stop. Target. AGAIN! TONS OF E12 ORTON AND E13 MYSTERIO! So that is 4 stores, 5 visits in a week and they all have the same exact crap. Nothing else new at all. I miss those days where there was always something new each visit or something new in at least 1 store.
Also, I ordered DDP from Matty Collector. I check my balance the other day at my bank, I noticed I had close to $30 in there, I wondered how until I saw the DDP situation posted on here.......
Is everyone else getting beyond frustrated with Mattel lately? Is this all actually worth all the grief?
There is my rant, Rate/Hate. Peace out!

I don't know who to blame.....Mattel, or the stores. But the bottom line is that SOMEBODY needs to figure out a better and faster way to get stuff on the shelves. It shouldn't be THIS hard to find WWE action figures.

I was getting frustrated trying to find BOPPV Bret Hart. Luckily, I was able to order him from their website.
I still need BOPPV Basic Mark Henry.
Going into Toys R Us every day is a waste of gas money, and somewhat embarrassing. It shouldn't be this difficult to find these.
I am kinda worried about finding Basic 16 (WrestleMania Heritage) too. Royal Rumble Heritage has been hard to find for me. Only seen them in CVS (wtf) and KOHL's (wtf).
I'd also like to add that my nearest WalMart has had Signature Series (not the new ones, the previous ones) clogging the sheleves for like a year.

I don't understand the issues with Mattel's distribution, but it really seems like kind of a joke at times.

Agreed. The figures are fantastic, just tell me where in the world do I buy them that doesn't involve the Internet.

They had 11 e13 Reys in the back? How is that possible? Did you actually see 11 Reys or were there other figures in the back. I know my Walmart has 2 boxes so far. If there were 11 Reys that means your store had at least 6 boxes of E13......

I have talked to several Walmart toy dept. managers. They say that they order stuff from their distribution warehouses that get cancelled all the time due to too much older product still being in the store. I asked them why they don't put the old crap on the clearance isle due to them missing all of the series that have been released but that just fell on deaf ears. I guess they don't want to make money off me.

Is everyone else getting beyond frustrated with Mattel lately? Is this all actually worth all the grief? These are children's toys. We should only be buying them for enjoyment. If the hobby is causing you grief, it's definitely time to call it a day.

Mattel's distribution is spotty and rough. That's why the internet is a huge help. DC classics was far more hit and miss than WWE, though. So, that means they are improving.

Like Lorenzo said, part of it is Mattel and part of it is the store.
We don't need a Randy Orton every other set when he doesn't have major attire changes, period. Having worked in retail though, I think part of the reason is that a store such as Target or Walmart or whatever doesn't really care if they are neccessarily getting the newest product. For that reason, they are just going to order what's available. If they sell all of E12 except Orton quickly, they're going to order more Elites, which will end up being more E12 (and, sadly, more Orton). Same thing with E13 and Rey. In this sense, it's partially Mattel's fault for their ridiculous casepacks (New characters should not be 1/case while Orton is 3/case. They should both be 2) and partially the store's fault for not caring about what exactly they are ordering.
I talk up RSC a lot on here, but it's because I really, truly do think we, as collectors, are lucky to have a site like theirs. They know about the product, and (more importantly) they care about getting it to us, not just making their $$$.

Do you mind traveling 4-6 miles for a good store because sorry to say it but I'm surprisingly not having the misfortune of living close to a TRS that never restocks or have to many shelve warmers or nothing of interest.

I've all but given up on retail...I'm mainly an elite collector so I always just preorder by the case from RSC...basics Is hard though because i usually only want one or two per series and it's too expensive to order the 1 short packed basic I want from RSC, so I don't even bother anymore...i just accept the fact Mattel doesn't want us to have them, or they would be more readily available

I literally work 30 seconds aways from my TRU and 2 minuets each from Target, Wal-Mart, and K-mart. Unfortunatley I start work when TRU opens and the earliest I can get there is 6PM. I am starting to feel like a creeper because 9 out of 10 times I buy nothing and the workers, who are the same handful of workers btw, are starting to give me looks.
At least Hasbro's products can be better guaged and they go by street dates. Granted their products are much different as well as how they package stuff, but even what is considered a "hard-to-find" figure I come across more often while I am looking for WWE figures. Don't get me wrong they too overpack certian figures, but it isn't as bad. If anything I spend more money on Hasbro figures while I am on the hunt looking for Mattel figures, Ironic.

I don't like ordering things on the internet, so I buy them in stores. TRU has BOPPV MYsterio and Cena. Every basic is Cena (except BOPPV) no elite, DM SCSA, Legends 2 pack. KMART all Sig Series... I'm kinda getting tired of that

Their shoddy paint jobs are what pisses me off tbh. So many sloppy paint apps out there, i've had to pass on a ton of figures i've wanted.

I saw 27 basic Reys in a small town Kmart today (I counted ). About 20 TttT and 3 or 4 of B13 and Sig Ser. Then there were the 5 Rey/Cody battlepacks. They'll never get WMH. Last week they had BOGO 50%. But the sale did nothing to move product.

I spent months trying to find E11 and L6, that by the time I found them, I just didn't care that much anymore. With Basics switching to one set a month now (new Basics were always harder to find in my area) and Legends going to online-only, I decided to get out. My town has one Walmart that is always hit hard, one Target that never restocks, and one Kmart that stocks maybe once every 6 months. Mattel price increases, gas price increases, and wacky distro just made it not fun anymore.

The distribution and case packs are working against collectors and it's making collecting extremely competitive, as evidenced by how quickly new items sell out on Mattel's or TRU's websites. Heck, even RSC pre-orders are getting that way! If you miss out, you're waiting longer and/or paying more! It's crazy!
That being said, I'd still much rather pay extra online to get exactly what I want than to drown in a sea of Orton, Cena, and Mysterio at retail.

I was trying to recall if RSC ever had pre order sellouts of Jakks figures. Back in the CS days I didn't use RSC as much since there were so many KB stores in my area and my KB's never skipped a series.
