KB... not those are 2 of my favorite letters. That is another reason why collecting sucks these days. There are too many big company store to buy toys at and not enough store dedicated to just toys. Yeah there is TRU, but I can't count that.
Very seldom I actually come across a mom 'n pop owned toy store.

its weird...it seemed like within the first year everything was pretty smooth. i was finding new sets at retail within a reasonable time frame and there were only a small few peg warmers even those didn't interfere with distribution
then somewhere around Basic Series 7 things started to get weird... stores started getting OVERLOADED with cases of the same set. some stores never even got certain series.
TRU has always been ridiculous though. I can never count on any one of the big retailers to stock Mattel WWE figures in order. A bunch of Walmarts put out the TLC sets last December...which was about 8 months after they were already released.
The problem is consistency. TRU gets 1 case of Elite 8, 3 cases of Elite 9, 1 case of Elite 10, zero Elite 11 or 12, then 1 case of Elite 13. But yet they stocked 20 cases of the Wrestlemania 27 figures.....
it doesnt make sense

Is everyone else getting beyond frustrated with Mattel lately? Is this all actually worth all the grief? These are children's toys. We should only be buying them for enjoyment. If the hobby is causing you grief, it's definitely time to call it a day. I agree that a hobby is no longer a hobby when you stop enjoying it. Part of the joy is the thrill of the chase. At least for me anyway. I completely disagree that these figures are merely children's toys when they are capable of bringing joy to people of all ages. My great grandparents included bless them. (As they passed on.) My mother collects those Lalaloopsy dolls. She has almost every single one. The packaging states from ages 4 to 104. Wrestling figures are for everyone young at heart.

They only have so many stores and there is a minimum number of figures you must purchase in order to get the discounted price. Some stores get shipped quite a few cases and others only get shipped one. The trick is finding out which of your stores are surplus stores. The ones who are sitting on the same old figures are not your surplus stores. The ones who are always selling out are. Companies keep track of what sells where and although it isn't an exact science they do try their best to get supply to where there is demand.

For some reason i've been having better luck at my local targets. I have found elite 12 and 13 there. I don't even bother going to TRU anymore because of there prices and it's imposible to find anything new there. But elite 13 Rey is becoming the new shelf warmer in my area.

I can see TRU's logic, even though it's dumb logic, in getting cases upon cases of the WM27 as they are exclusives to TRU and the logic comes with the line of thinking "we are the only store that has these" so they become a priority. Little do these stores know that they can make more money selling the "everday items" but they don't. TRU isn't the only one because I also collect Transformers figures, and Walmart's exclusive are clogging up shelves, as well as Targets did. Maybe the solution should be to have no more store exclusive figures. Most of them are crappy repaints anyway, and they are preventing new stuff from being ordered.

For those that aren't aware TRU is aiming to become an upscale yuppie type store. They even sell purified bottled water for babies. Their aim is to carry things that no one else carries, yet are still collectable and appeal to a wide range of buyers so they can charge you an arm and a leg for them.

Their aim is to carry things that no one else carries, yet are still collectable and appeal to a wide range of buyers so they can charge you an arm and a leg for them. I believe this because a couple of years back they announced they were going to start to carry items that appeal to the adult collectors. Before you know it they started stocking shelves with NECA, Mezco, and figures of similar qualities. Hell they even got in some really nice Bandai of Japan figures this past Christmas. This is a great idea if TRU would actually carry some of these things and actually restock them once in a while. This brings me to the other headache that comes with TRU in general. Why do some TRU's have better inventory than others. I was at a TRU in Long Island, NY this past fall and they had some figures I never I never saw at my TRUs here. Not to mention they had a better selection of WWE figures as well. My nearest TRU doesn't carry as much as the other one which is 25 miles away from me. Sorry to stray from topic but between Mattel's crap distibution, and TRU stores not being in sync it gets to be quite bothersome after awhile. At least Target, KMart, and Walmart all suck in unison.

its like they want us to buy online so we have to pay higer prices and they leave the unwanted figures in stores cheap bastards People buying online doesn't change Mattel's profit margin any though...

Everyone who collects something is pretty much young at heart. My mom, sister, girlfriend and most women throughout the country, collect(ed) barbies. My dad was into Wrestling figure collecting until he was in his 40s. I also collect hess trucks, Music figures and have the entire Yellow Submarine movie set. They aren't just kids toys by any means necessary. Back to being on topic, the chase is a thrill but it's more fun with the new sets are actually available. Also as I mentioned at the top of this thread, Matty Collector is also a big issue for the fact they didn't have DDP after I already paid for the damn thing! So Mattel is pretty guilty overall.

Has nothing to do with Mattel having poor distribution. The stores simply dont want the figures and arent ordering them. Its frustrating knowing that you can buy elite 14 and 15 online while you wait for your store to get elite 13 in. But thats the way it is. Im at a point know where im only gonna be buying select figures anyway so its cool with me to only have 2 or so at a time that i want.

I just order online for this very reason, finding crap at retail just became too much of a hassle and wasn't fun anymore. Least online i get them directly to my door and usually a month or two in advance thanks to RSC.

Regardless of the age of those of us who buy them, they are children's toys. My point isn't that adults can't collect or enjoy children's toys -- many of us do. My point is that these are items designed for fun, they're not something to get upset over. Collecting them isn't going to bring about world peace or cure cancer, it's not a noble pursuit for us to partake in, it's just a hobby that's meant to bring us pleasure.

I agree completely. I've been trying to find basic 15, I just wound up getting Brodus & Layla from someone off these forums.
The next figures I want are the Bella Twins. I'm hoping to catch them on mattelshop or tru.com, but that can be hard to do usually. I don't want to pay $50 for them off rsc, I'd rather wait until they hit the stores and then if I still can't find them, order them off ebay.
TRU use to get figures the week after their website did, but lately the shelves have been clogged with Cena's and other crap that deosn't sell. I would go to TRU during my lunch break at work, only to see the same crappy figures.

i work for a store, where when inventory gets old and doesnt sell, we actually send it back to the warehouse, who then sends it back to the distributer for credit. thats how mattel should work with retailers. what doesnt sell, they send back for credit and then they send new stuff out

i think its because of who they are releasing and their case break downs is the problem. because obviously mysterio isnt selling but they put him in almost every set and x3 in each case! so it sits on the shelves forcing stores to pass up new sets till this stuff sells. If you look at mattels other products such as Monster High it flys off the shelves and the new stuff is constantly hitting the shelves. They got that figured out, I think its just going to take Mattel awhile to figure out what to produce and how much of it.

The frustration led me to give in to the scalper-like WWE Shop. I paid their price for WMH Warrior. I haven't seen much of RRH (once), B15 (none), WMH (once) in my area. Good thing I bought RRH and B15 from RSC. Wish I did that for WMH.

This is one of the reasons why I miss K.B toy works they used to always have the newest stuff right there for me everytime I go there to bad there out of bussiness : ( .But Tba if I think somebody probably goes to the store early in the morning as soon as the store opens and buys all of the Cody's and dolphs they have.

Everywhere around here that has gotten Elite 13, Rey is the only thing left. It's slowly starting to take over the Orton/Del rio's warming the shelf as every single place has multiples of this figure.
