I was looking at my collection last night and I was wondering What did Jakks have over Mattel? For the most part, I think Mattel is miles ahead of Jakks but there are a couple of things Jakks did better. So far I've got playsets, and tables... Jakks definitley made better tables. What do you think?

They made Mae Young and Fabulous Moolah. Other than that, I can't think of anything.

Jakks could afford to "swing and miss" more than Mattel can. It was a much different time economically, and they could take chances on things like accessory packs, playsets, and even characters like Colin Delaney.

They had massive amounts of bulk, exactly what I liked about Jakk's, you can also compare the bulking to the WWE game WWE Legends.

It's really funny how you guys praise mattel and think jakks did nothing right. Yes jakks did terrible towards the end but that all you guys base it on. Jakks had many good figs great sculpts and series. With mattel they have there flaws to. Some figs look terrible. IMO they look very stiff especially in the new packaging. Clearley both companies had flaws but It sickens me how you guys talk down to jakks.

Well Mattel did make the 1/1000 belts which did resemble Hogan's first title he won, but I see what you mean. Man could you imagine what Mattel's sculpts would be like in die-cast.

Jakks had more available playsets and accessories. That's about It.

I've noticed that Jakks did a lot larger lineup of different people. I know that's due in part to being around longer so we'll just have to see in time if Mattel can match them in that department but other than that I'm not sure. I've got some Jakks figures that look great and I love them and some that aren't great but then again Mattel is the same way. They have their ups and downs as well. Like some have said the accessories seem to be more abundant in the Jakks days. I remember back when I was collecting(in 1998-2000-ish) I had tons of accessories, tables, chairs, ladders, a yellow radio that I remember for some reason, and now it seems like the only accessories, outside of belts and the occasional chair, come with the rumbler figures.

Jakks made a much deeper roster and the figures were more playable due to the bulk, in my opinion. Those figures could take beatings.
Mattel has more realistic figures, and mostly better scale (excluding Divas and Vince, for example). Mattel has increased articulation, but the figures felt very fragile to me.

Play sets, weapons / ring gear, better headscans (sometimes), ton of people that mattel hasn't done yet...

1) More series, releases and wrestlers made
2) Better distribution and marketing
3) Better packaging
4) More affordable figures
