Some of you guys can't read can you?
It's not ONLY cage matches, it's matches where there is NO WAY OUT of the ring essentially.

Gimmick PPV's are awful, hell gimmick matches are pretty awful when not used sparingly. I remember when a hell in a cell match announcement was an "Oh crap" moment... The over use of a gimmick diminishes it's value. You should never use a gimmick "just because" it should be an organic evolution of a storyline. Great cell/cage/gimmick matches are great not great because of the match concept it's the psychology of the match, that it's come to this event, that everything else couldn't contain this feud or that these men hate each other so much this is the only possible step. Just being like "Ummmm, IC title match in a cage?" Is so stupid.

Gimmick matches should mean something and not be used for a PPV no one will care about a week after it happens. I remember the days when cage matches were the feud enders. Same for Hell in the Cell. Now its just stick anyone in there and have 2 or 3 of each match at each themed show. Totally diminishing the value of every gimmick match they have with these PPV's.
Rant aside, this isn't exactly going to help the buyrates any. Its pretty clear people really care about the Big 4, with Money in the Bank last year being a big hit besides those.

Cage matches have been crap since they've been able to escape THROUGH THE ING DOOR! So, every cage match since at least the 90s? Just watched the Val Venis vs Rikishi match and you're right! I don't remember them being able to escape through the door, at all. It must have been because the superstars were trying to escape through the top a lot more at that time.

I think the gimmick matches add a tough road to walk on to WRESTLEMANIA and if you made it to wrestlemania you survived the ultimate challenges to tearn your spot. I like it.

Not even the WWE has the imagination to conceive this as being a viable reason to hold gimmick PPV's. I sincerely doubt in March/April anyone is thinking about how a guy made it through a punjabi prison match last August. This is a cheap cash in, that's all.

I reckon that WWE should scrap all gimmick PPVs next year or the year after. Then have some of the old PPV names return, no gimmick matches on any of the cards, then bring back the gimmick match only when necessary. It might sound like a sh*t idea, but I think it could help bring back prestige to the matches.

So, the title matches are a cage match and a strap match, and we'll see a Divas lumberjack match. Cool.
