Big Brazilian brawl? Yes, please.
UFC President Dana White has been answering fan questions on Twitter and, as usual, he's dropped a few interesting nuggets worth passing along. The most noteworthy of which is the fact that when Mauricio Rua returns to the Octagon, he will do so against Thiago Silva.
No event, date or location was revealed.
For "Shogun" it will be his first fight back inside the Octagon since dropping a controversial decision to Dan Henderson back at UFC 139 in Nov. 2011 in San Jose, California. That pill seems even more bitter in hindsight now that it's been confirmed "Hendo" will go on to challenge Jon Jones for the light heavyweight championship later this year.
As for Silva, he made his long awaited return to the cage just this past April 14, 2012, in the main event of UFC on FUEL TV 2 against Alexander Gustafsson, a fight that saw him lose via decision after three hard fought rounds.
The Brazilian bomber didn't exactly impress in his return but considering how long he was on the shelf, expectations weren't exactly high. They likely won't be high for this one, either, as the degree of difficulty is actually going up despite his loss.
As stated, no date was announced for this fight to take place but there are plenty of available options. UFC 149 could use another big bout on July 21 in Calgary. UFC 150 is set for Aug. 11 and needs a solid co-main event.
No matter where this one ends up, what are your thoughts on the match-up, Maniacs? And who wins?
That didn't take long.
Hector Lombard now has an opponent for his Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) debut -- none other than the "All American" war hero himself, Brian Stann.
The bout was confirmed on Twitter by promotion President Dana White today and rumors have it that the contest will take place at UFC on Fox 4 on Sat., Aug. 4, 2012, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.
Lombard's only two losses have come by unanimous decision to Gegard Mousasi and Akihiro Gono in fights that took place nearly six years ago. He has 24 finishes, including 17 (T)KO stoppages in 31 wins.
He's been called everything from professional can-crusher to top five middleweight in the world. Now we get to find out first hand if he can really swim with the sharks.
Stann, one of many names floated for "Shango's" Octagon debut, is one of the very best 185-pound fighters the world's largest fight promotion has to offer. He was last seen destroying Alessio Sakara via first round, ground-n-pound knockout in Stockholm, Sweden, at the UFC on FUEL TV 2 event this past April 14.
Prior to that he was 3-1 in his last four. His only defeat came at the hands of top middleweight title contender Chael Sonnen.
Really, this is about as tough a test as the company could find for Lombard. Anyone think he's in for a long night? Or will he shock the world and send the super soldier back to the loser's line?
UFC on Fox 4 is set for the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Calif., and goes down on Sat., Aug. 4, 2012. Lombard vs. Stann has yet to be officially confirmed and as of yet is the only bout rumored for the card at this time.

My question is this: Which are you more excited for, and who do you pick?
As more and more fights get announced maybe when can make this thread the 'recently announced fights' thread and talk about them in here. Just a thought.
