Spike TV has announced a conference call for 2pm EST today, where they are expected to announce the signing of former Strikeforce champion Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal to a deal that would see him compete for BOTH companies.
I'll admit, they have my attention. He certainly has the charisma and athletic ability to do either. It could be interesting to see how he balances the two.

I have no idea who this guy is.
I did think of Sir Mo, at first, but he was merely a Sir, and not a King, for the King was Mabel.
I feel like this is TNA wasting more money, but we'll see, I guess.

B*tch offends me...
I mean, I guess this is TNA's answer to Brock Lesnar? The guy has a serious amateur wrestling background and he is full of his own sh*t, so I get it. Not sure it's going to do anything for TNA though. They would have been better served offering someone like Rampage a contract since he is almost done with UFC and actually has universal appeal and some star power. And Rampage already has respect for the business.

Lawal was just interviewed on the Spike TV show MMA Uncensored Live, and he came off as someone who has respect for the business. He is a longtime wrestling fan so he is getting the chance to live out his dream of being a wrestler while still competing in MMA. I don't think this is supposed to "be TNA's answer to Brock" because this is something that hasn't been done before. If anything, it's a cross-promotion opportunity between both brands.
Lawal even mentioned several times in the interview that he doesn't want to be handed anything by TNA. He WANTS to pay his dues. The host of the show made some smartass comment about how TNA could just hand him a belt, and Mo gave the impression that he doesn't want that. He wants to put in the time and EARN it. He even specifically mentioned that he would be training in OVW to learn the ropes before going to TNA later this year.
Lawal gave the impression that he is taking this very seriously, so I say give him a chance before trashing it.

The fact that he even knows who the Great Muta is, let alone one of his all time favorites says a little about him. I think this could be interesting, but I'm not expecting TNA to put all their eggs in King Mo's basket.

Check out this interview here where he goes into detail about his signing
He also shares some wrestling memories talking about Jerry Lawler, Harely Race, and Booker T.

i'll wait to see how it plays out. he seems like someone who has some respect for pro wrestling and an actual interest, so who knows, maybe this'll work.
that interviewer was pretty crappy.

His name was Bobby Lashley and that worked out so well for TNA. He is saying all the right things, but Lashley said the same type of things about being able to juggle both, and Lashley already had actual pro wrestling training and experience. I'm not saying this can't work, or it won't work, or that the guy won't end up being a big deal in TNA, but I personally don't think it's anything to be excited about personally. I can't say I blame anyone for laughing at the whole situation at this point. Hopefully it works out for TNA, but it's not a move, like signing Adam Cole or Kevin Steen, that would get me excited about the next 5 years of TNA wrestling.

Vintage TNA. Spending money on someone nobody will give a crap about and will be gone in a month. They don't even have Ron Killings to team him up with anymore!

I was talking in terms of the talent, wrestling promotion, and MMA promotion all working in unison. Yes, Lashley wrestled in TNA while pursuing and just starting MMA, but it wasn't a joint deal between the promotions like this.
