Surprised nobody had made a thread for this yet.
So, Diablo III gets released tonight, after 11 years of development, and just under 4 years after it was announced. Who else is getting it? Hopefully it is just as good if not better than Diablo II. In my opinion, the gameplay looks too cluttered, and like too much is going on, and it looks too much like World of Warcraft. As with D2, I'll be playing as the Barbarian first, what class will you play first?

I've never played a Diablo game, but I've been following this one and it looks like a ton of fun.

I pre-purchased it the moment I bought my new laptop. I will be installing it at the stroke of midnight. SOOOO excited!!! The beta kicked all kinds of ass and was the most fun I've had playing a game online with friends since... I dunno, LoD? I played through the beta as the Demon Hunter and instantly clicked with that charecter class. That's how I usually play games like this, hanging in the back and just firing things in from long distance. I tried playing as the Barb but he seemed way too clunky and slow for my liking.

I sure do love the servers being overloaded to the point where I can't even make a character -_-

Just finishing off downloading. According to Wikipedia my computer specs don't meet the requirement for minimal to play Diablo 3. Bummed at this, although it could be wrong. My system specs on my netbook are too low to play World of Warcraft and GTA: Vice City according to Wikipedia, although they both play fine on my netbook.

Blizzard tends to do a good job of making games run well on kinda crappy hardware, but you really shouldn't expect to game on a netbook.

Been googling my way through this issue for the past hour and a half, and none of the solutions I've tried have worked yet. it.

I been playing Diablo since the launch of Diablo 1. I was able to play D3 this morning for a couple hours, but work is getting in the way of my fun time today. So after work tonight I'll be playing way too much.

Been googling my way through this issue for the past hour and a half, and none of the solutions I've tried have worked yet. it. Did you play the beta by chance? Nope. But I fixed the installation error. I stopped all processes related to Blizzard in Task Manager, and then followed instructions of a solution on the Diablo 3 forums (as far as I know it only works for digital copies). Which were to copy the downloaded Diablo 3 folder into the default game installation folder (for me on WinXP it would be C:/Program Files). Then I renamed the folder "Diablo III", started the .exe file and left all options default, and it worked like a charm. Installing right now, albeit very slowly, but it's not surprising as I am on a computer built around 6 or 7 years ago still on XP, and the game itself is 15.1GB.

How is this game? I played the first Diablo for a brief time, many , many years ago and I am really interested in this one. I haven't really seen much in the way of reviews yet. All I see is complaints about not being able to play. So, if anyone has played it yet, what are your thoughts?

I haven't played it yet, but I have it all installed. Downloading a video card driver now before I'll try to play it though. I hope to be able to play it, but I doubt it due to the servers overloading.
I think it's stupid that you require an internet connection even to play single player. Yet more of Blizzard thinking that every game should be like WoW.
Just started playing. It looks great so far.
Edit: Been playing now for half an hour and I must say, THIS IS AWESOME! It plays as good if not better than it's predeccesor. When I first started it, the launcher stated my gameplay experience would be poor, but I increased the resolution, and it still plays very smoothly, even in areas with a lot going on. If any of you have doubts about this game, let them go away now, because this game is great.

You need to understand netbooks are not made for gaming... Plus like mole said WoW, and VC don't need much power to run them.

They are just cheap affordable laptops that can only do basic things. Like I said, I just did it as a test. But anyway, we're done discussing that, this thread is to discuss Diablo 3. Who else here has been playing it?

It looks like I am going to have to get this one. I have been reading a few things here and there and it sounds like fun. I know it's not in game yet but the real money auction house sounds very interesting. I am curious to see how that works out.
