LET'S REWIND...The year is 2001. The professional wrestling industry in the eyes of many is dying in the wake of the biggest buyout in the industry's history.
The World Wrestling Federation purchased World Championship Wrestling from Time Warner following what was potentially the biggest rivalry in the sport to date. Twenty years ago, the WWF monopolized the industry; but one promotion stood up, and the two had a momentous back-and-forth tussle that went on throughout the 1990s. The two sides raged on, stealing talent from one side to another, using different promotional tactics to gain viewership of wrestling fans universally. With the WWF's flagship show "Monday Night RAW" on a Monday night on the USA Network (and later TNN), WCW backfired with their own flagship show's creation, "Monday Nitro" on TNT. The two sides battled for over three years with WCW's Nitro gaining the upper hand, but in the end it was the WWF that walked away with victory, and WCW began to sink. This is when it was placed up for sale by the Time Warner organization. Meanwhile, former President of World Championship Wrestling, Eric Bischoff began working with a unit to try and purchase the WCW brand themselves, entitled Fusient Media. Unfortunately, the deal fell apart when Fusient failed in its efforts to secure WCW from Time Warner. Several days later, it was the World Wrestling Federation themselves who knocked on Time Warner's door, taking out the vast majority of its' competition. Nitro's final broadcast came on Monday, March 26th 2001 where Vince McMahon began his master plan, creating a simulcast between the two companies' shows, creating the storyline that it was his son Shane McMahon who bought WCW, from under his father's nose.
The WWF purchased WCW's trademarks, a percentage of WCW-licensed contracts and the video tape library for an asset of $4.2 million.
Additionally, cult promotion based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Extreme Championship Wrestling went under in early 2001. ECW was best known for its innovative style and edgy content, spanning from being a local wrestling promotion to being a phenomenon and a revolution, known as one of the most recognized promotions in the business (alongside the far wealthier WWF and WCW companies) in the span of eight years. However unlike the WWF and WCW, ECW did not have the funding that they had. It had promoted shows for 2001, but held its last show on January 12, 2001. A pay-per-view event known as "Living Dangerously" was planned for March, but cancelled due to financial troubles. Meanwhile, owner Paul Heyman showed up on the WWF's flagship show RAW is WAR, having signed a contract in the role of RAW's color commentator, alongside play-by-play, Jim Ross. ECW officially closed its doors due to bankruptcy on April 4, 2001.
With this, the World Wrestling Federation had once again monopolized and destroyed the competition, World Championship Wrestling now under their umbrella, as well as several assets of Extreme Championship Wrestling (which Vince would later buy). With two of the three major wrestling promotions in the United States gone, the WWF survived and there was very little competition to size up against the Connecticut corporation.
Meanwhile, there were three men on a fishing trip. They discussed the recent buyouts and domination of the World Wrestling Federation; claiming that the professional wrestling industry was deader than ever before. The three talked about the influences that Vince McMahon and his empire had over television networks across the USA, and how a fresh promotion would survive. The three discussed a mere pay-per-view series alternatively. They also noted that they wanted to work with the current cream of the crop a bit more than WWF/WCW alums, so to speak. Those being the current gems on the independent wrestling market, not scooped up by the monstrous WWF. However following these discussions, the three declared the concepts to be simple "fishing talk". Two of these three men took the matter seriously.
These men were Bob Ryder, Jeff Jarrett and his father, Jerry Jarrett.
Jerry Jarrett was a retired professional wrestler, having become extremely successful in the southern territories throughout the 20th century. Following his retirement from competition, he opened various wrestling promotions, to name a few; the Continental Wrestling Association, World Class Championship Wrestling, and the United States Wrestling Association. Jarrett was very successful in these ventures, but it had been four years since the demise of his last creation. His son Jeff Jarrett, a successful professional wrestler best known for his work in both the World Wrestling Federation and World Championship Wrestling had just recently been let go by the WWF following their purchase of WCW (where he worked prior to its closing), and had no expectations of returning to a land he once betrayed, jumping from the WWF to WCW two years prior.
With the initial thoughts intact, Jeff and Jerry Jarrett found the financial backing they needed, Jeff even using a $1 million investment made up of his own money to lift the product off of the ground. Finally on May 10, 2002, Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (traded as J Sports and Entertainment) was founded by Jeff and Jerry Jarrett, and revealed as being under the National Wrestling Alliance banner. Vacation of the NWA World Heavyweight and World Tag Team Championship belts followed to aid NWA:TNA in their opening.
The company additionally had financial backing from the HealthSouth Corporation, headed in Birmingham, Alabama. Dixie Carter, the daughter of Panda Energy International's owner, Robert W. Carter; applied as a marketing and publicity outlet official, and was hired for the job. With all of the cogs turning, the Jarretts were set to go, promoting their premiere show for June 19, 2002 from the Von Braun Civic Center in Huntsville, Alabama; not far from the headquarters of the HealthSouth Corporation. The website domain nwatna.com was bought and launched to coincide, keeping followers interested and updated on the product ahead of its premiere show.
The story leads from this point onwards, as ten years later TNA Wrestling continues to stand strong. This journal is a mere alternative to the reality that unfolded in professional wrestling; an industry considered "stale" ten years prior.
Welcome all, enjoy the ride: it sure will be a roller coaster.

I really thought this would be a Pokémon diary, and I was scared of opening... All those creepy pastas I've read over the last couple of days have had an effect on me.

| NWA-TNA: TOTAL NONSTOP ACTION #001 |

Wednesday 19th June 2002 - Huntsville, AL

- An opening vignette aired, dating us back to the territorial days of professional wrestling, mainly in black and white. It contained footage involving such NWA representatives as Harley Race, Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat and Dory Funk Jr before suddenly switching to the logo of NWA-TNA, a voiceover introducing us to the newest wave in NWA history: Total Nonstop Action Wrestling!
- We cut to the Von Braun Center in Huntsville, Alabama for the inaugural pay-per-view broadcast of Total Nonstop Action Wrestling; Mike Tenay, Ed Ferrara and Don West on the announce team as they dawned in an exciting, off-the-wall concept known as NWA-TNA. They hyped up the future of wrestling on this pay-per-view series, a summer trial beginning as of now, every single Wednesday night!
1) Low-Ki, Jimmy Yang and Jerry Lynn def. Aguila, AJ Styles and TAKA Michinoku (13:22) An explosive opening contest to the first ever edition of NWA: Total Nonstop Action, and this match included some of the craziest spots seen on U.S. pay-per-view to this day. The fans were familiar with former WWE light-heavyweights, Jerry Lynn, Aguila and TAKA Michinoku, but the appearances from AJ Styles, Jimmy Yang and Low-Ki brought some reaction from the dying days of WCW. Low-Ki used his heavy footwork in this match to work away at Michinoku, and Yang soon went after Aguila; Ki, Lynn and Yang working away at the back of the luchadore. Styles soon made the save, as the action spilled out to ringside, Michinoku with an amazing springboard plancha onto Ki, Aguila and Lynn, and that was soon followed up with a crazy springboard corkscrew moonsault from Yang, even moreso followed up with an Asai moonsault into a reverse DDT on the floor from AJ to Yang! The match quickly came down to Michinoku and Lynn, as TAKA tried for the Michinoku Driver, just for Lynn to slide out and lay Michinoku down with the Cradle Piledriver! ***1/2
- The audience here in Huntsville applauded the action they had just seen from this "X-Division", Jerry Lynn's hand raised in victory by referee Slick Johnson alongside Jimmy Yang and Low-Ki, but this suddenly led to AJ Styles getting in Lynn's face! The announcers discussed the disrespect on Styles' part towards the veteran Lynn, before Styles was walked out by Johnson.
- We cut to the backstage area where Jeff Jarrett was shown tuning his acoustic guitar before being approached by Jeremy Borash, as Borash wanted to get some words from "Double J" about the start of NWA-TNA and what this could mean to the career of Jeff Jarrett. Jarrett replied bitterly, talking about how this was his time to shine, he used to be the guy everyone walked all over in Atlanta, and New York. But here in Huntsville, Jarrett is very certain that being one of the more experienced guys on the roster that he will easily get his way to the top of the mountain!
- The theme of NWA-TNA hit as this led out the representatives and former stars of the National Wrestling Alliance. These included Ricky Steamboat, Harley Race, Dory Funk Jr, Bill Behrens, Corsica Joe, Jackie Fargo and Bob Armstrong as the group entered the ring to the respectful response from the Alabama crowd. Harley Race asked the crowd if they had enjoyed what they had seen so far tonight, talking about how tonight is the first night of a new era in professional wrestling, how wrestling had slid into a downfall over the past year with the demise of several wrestling organizations, but NWA-TNA is here to rectify, and change! Ricky Steamboat then took over, asking about the X-Division before asking the fans if they would want to see more of them! The fans cheered as Steamboat revealed that next week we will see a gauntlet to determine the company's first TNA X-Division Champion! He revealed that being a high flyer himself, it brings a tear to his eye to see these great talents stepping it up a notch in a revolutionary new style of wrestling. Dory Funk Jr then took the microphone, as he talked about the NWA World Heavyweight Championship; and how in three short weeks, we will crown the first NWA World Heavyweight Champion of this era! With that, the legends were suddenly interrupted by the theme of Brian Lawler, as out came "Too Sexy" himself.
The crowd booed as Brian Lawler hit the ring, the crowd very familiar with who he was, Lawler asking why anybody would pay $9.95 to see these old hasbeens take up his ring! Christopher went on to talk about his debut in NWA-TNA is to mark his spot in the company, that he will be a worthy NWA World Heavyweight Champion, much better than some of the other faces this roster has to offer; Jeff Jarrett? Ken Shamrock? K-Krush? Rick Steiner? None of them add up to his level of magnificence, of his flamboyence, of his...sexiness! The crowd booed Lawler's arrogance, but that's when Ricky Steamboat stepped in, telling Brian that he's here making a name for himself, which he respects; but in order to qualify for this tournament, he will have to take part in four way main event tonight against BG James, the Vampire Warrior and Sabu for a spot in the semi-finals! The NWA representatives began to leave as Lawler began to leave.
We cut to the backstage area where Joel Gertner resurfaced on pay-per-view, Gertner back with some perverted rhymes as he took a wander through the corridor, Joel then commenting on how he saw some friends of his past around before kicking a door open to show Francine inside in a bra doing her hair, before turning to the camera and screaming at Gertner! Joel then closed the door on her before shrugging, Gertner talking more about friends of the past with him, and that's when Joey Matthews and Christian York appeared either side of him, Gertner rhyming about how they were about to blow through the competition NWA-TNA has to offer.
2) Steve Corino def. Lash LeRoux (5:47) A competitive match, as fans were familiar with both men in this one, Lash LeRoux, an established cruiserweight in the dying days of WCW, whereas Steve Corino, the "King of Old School", a former ECW World Heavyweight Champion in his own right. Corino seemed overconfident in the early moments, but Lash fired back with unique offence, the Bourbon City Blues to Corino, and Lash seemed very ready to follow up with the Whiplash, but Corino fired back with an Old School Lariat, then following up with several of his signature moves, a diving legdrop seemingly finishing it, but Corino wanted to end it in better manner, finishing LeRoux off with the Old School Expulsion. **1/4
- Steve Corino celebrated his win to a mixed reaction, as the "King of Old School" took the microphone and talked about how this revolutionary new generation in the National Wrestling Alliance wouldn't last, because representing the NWA, Corino is here to bring old school BACK! The crowd gave this a mixed reaction as Corino left.
- A vignette aired, showing a man in the distance, followed up with several promo shots of one man and one man only - "The Lone Wolf" Scott Hall! It stated that he was coming next week.
3) Jeff Jarrett def. K-Krush in an NWA World Heavyweight Championship Tournament match (10:50) The crowd weren't really pleased to see Jeff Jarrett out here tonight in the first quarter-final match of the NWA World Heavyweight Championship tournament, "Double J" up to his old typical tricks with a guitar on him at ringside. K-Krush rapped his way to the ring, and proved to be quite the crowd pleaser as he got in there and matched it up with Jarrett, taking him down with several leg lariats as well as a few flying clotheslines. Jarrett soon fired back though, a running knee to the gut taking Krush down. Jarrett worked on the shoulder from there, several clubbing elbows to the shoulder and collarbone before applying an abdominal stretch. K-Krush fired back one more time though, Krush with a scissors kick out of nowhere, but Jarrett quickly kicked out! K-Krush soon went for the K-Krusher (face-first suplex), but Jarrett slid out, knocking the referee, and that's when "Double J" took his patented guitar from the ring steps and clocked Krush in the head with it! Jarrett covered and secured the three! **1/2
- The crowd booed loudly as Jeff Jarrett rolled out of the ring, "Double J" gaining a tainted position in the semi-finals of the NWA World Heavyweight Championship tournament! Jarrett seemed awfully confident that he would get the win, as official Scott Armstrong aided to K-Krush, who didn't look too pleased with all of this.
- Jeremy Borash soon made his way out to the crowd, as several fans in the Von Braun Center recognized Borash for his days in WCW where he served as a ring announcer and a backstage interviewer. Borash talked about how NWA-TNA has landed, but to tie in with all of this, he has the pleasure of introducing a man that is renowned for his NASCAR career, Hermie Sadler! Sadler came out to a decent reaction, as Sadler entered the ring after parading around the ringside area, shaking hands with fans, as Hermie talked about how great it was to be here, because typically he would be at the wheel of a car. But he was quickly interrupted by the theme of Sonny Siaki, and out he came accompanied by a young woman known as Alexis Laree. Siaki got into the ring with Laree on his arm, as Siaki asked the Huntsville audience who actually cared that Hermie Sadler of NASCAR fame was here. The fans cheered, as Siaki said that he should've known that these stupid fans were dumb enough to follow NASCAR. Siaki told the fans that he has arrived in NWA-TNA to put a stop to all of these guest appearances in wrestling, all of which he is ashamed to be a part of! Siaki talked about how it takes away from true talent, like himself, who works hard on a daily basis to get his way onto this pay-per-view! And he finds out that he's not even booked for the show? Siaki was soon interrupted by the theme of Psicosis! Psicosis ran down to the ring followed by Andrew Thomas, and we had a match on the go!
4) Psicosis (w/Hermie Sadler) def. Sonny Siaki (w/Alexis Laree) (5:44) Siaki wanted exposure on the premiere of NWA-Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, but he wasn't expecting to be faced with one Psicosis, a former WCW Cruiserweight Champion and a very famous luchadore from Mexico! Psicosis flew around the ring with various armdrags and hurricanranas, outsmarting the larger yet inexperienced Siaki. Siaki soon retreated to ringside, where he was comforted by Alexis Laree, but that's when Psicosis came off of the apron with a diving hurricanrana on Siaki! Psicosis continued with the Psycho Stunner, but Siaki managed to get his foot on the bottom rope. Siaki then reversed a floatover DDT into a belly-to-belly suplex, Siaki taunting Psicosis and knocking him when he was down. Siaki soon went for a move known as the Siakalypse Now, but Psicosis slipped out with a jawbreaker, and Siaki fell down into the ropes! Psicosis then jumped up to the top rope and nailed Siaki with a Guillotine Legdrop, covering Siaki for the three! **
- Psicosis celebrated his win to cheers, as Hermie Sadler then entered the ring to shake and raise the hand of Psicosis, the man that came to his aid from a verbal tirade from Sonny Siaki. Siaki was aided to by Alexis Laree.
- We cut to the backstage area where Jeremy Borash caught a few words with Father James Mitchell, who was accompanied by a large man, formerly known as the Wall in WCW. Mitchell told Borash that tonight, Huntsville, Alabama will be the site where he unveils his masterpiece, Malice. The first step in a series in which the conqueror of NWA-TNA Wrestling will be built. Mitchell talked about how many faces in NWA-TNA look fresh and new, but he hasn't seen the man he's about to unleash on the world, because he is truly frightening and will eat the flesh off of the bones of many stars in this company. And nobody can stop him! Mitchell maniacally laughed before leaving with Malice by his side.
5) Chris Harris and James Storm def. Lenny and Lodi in an NWA World Tag Team Championship Tournament match (7:21) This was our first of two semi-final matches to crown the first NWA World Tag Team Champions in the NWA-TNA era. Harris and Storm cooperated well as a team, but they had to go up against former WCW tag team Lenny and Lodi, as Lenny and Lodi seemingly hadn't missed a beat, working away at the more inexperienced Storm, planting a Poetry in Motion-style move on him and going after the neck, a neckbreaker delivered from Lenny, and Lodi got involved as well, stomping away at the head of Storm. The two isolated Storm from Harris, as Chris Harris managed to rile the crowd up, and Storm soon broke out of a chinlock and bounced off of the ropes, a flying crossbody taking both men out! Storm finally got the tag to Harris, who ran at Lenny with a Lou Thesz press, fighting off Lodi as well before Storm took Lodi right out with a superkick! Harris then followed up with a spear to the running Lenny for the win. **1/4
- Chris Harris and James Storm celebrated their win, as they were right on their way to gaining the NWA World Tag Team Championships. Lodi helped Lenny out of the ring, the two accepting defeat tonight. However, at that point, the theme of Father James Mitchell hit, and out came the sinister minister himself, but he was not alone; accompanied by what was called his "New Church", consisting of two gothic men by the names of Slash (formerly Wolfie D in the WWE)and Tempest (formerly Crowbar in WCW), alongside the massive Malice. The quartet entered the ring, Slash and Sinn sizing up Harris and Storm as they left, Mitchell taking a microphone and welcoming everyone to the Disciples of the New Church. He talked about his masterpiece, the cult designed to dominate Total Nonstop Action on pay-per-view on a weekly basis, and that regardless of who won this Mickey Mouse NWA World Heavyweight Championship tournament, Malice would be all over the champ's back, and he would dominate! Mitchell in addition noted that Slash and Tempest would do the same, chasing the NWA World Tag Team Championships. He talked about how the New Church were denied of entry into the tournaments, and it made them sick! But in due time, they will run this joint, and nobody can stop them!
6) Malice, Slash and Tempest (w/Father James Mitchell) def. The Amazing Red, Spanky and Jody Fleisch (4:12) The Disciples of the New Church seemed very confident as the bell rang, and they were up against three very talented men currently with independent promotion Ring of Honor, a part of the cross-promotion between NWA-TNA and ROH. The three ROH stars showed what they could do, Spanky with a handspring elbow to Tempest, Amazing Red with an outstanding headscissors, and Jody Fleisch nailing Slash with a corkscrew moonsault for a near fall attempt. The announcers bigged up ROH's next show on Saturday night, June 22nd from Philadelphia, entitled the "Road to the Title", but for the ROH guys, they were no match for Malice, as he powered through them with a big boot to the heart of Fleisch. Slash and Tempest put Red away with a double backbreaker drop, as Spanky tried to springboard at Malice from the apron, just to fall into Malice's monstrous hand, the Chokeslam getting the New Church a dominant win! **
- Father James Mitchell joined the Disciples of the New Church in the ring, as Slash, Tempest and Malice had done an impressive job, despite their demented exteriors, Mitchell with a great mindset for the future, a great investment from the evil minister.
- A video package aired, as Mike Tenay, Ed Ferrara and Don West discussed the action we had seen tonight on this pay-per-view broadcast, and then welcoming us back to next week's show, for only $9.95, for some Total Nonstop Action Wrestling from the NWA! They hyped up next week, scheduled to feature the crowning of the first TNA X-Division Champion as the gold is up for grabs in a Gauntlet for the Gold; Ken Shamrock will meet Mike Awesome & Scott Hall fights Curt Hennig in NWA World Heavyweight Championship quarterfinals match-ups; Plus, in the other NWA World Tag Team Championship semi-final bout, Joey Matthews and Christian York meet the Harris Brother, Ron and Don! It's all next week on NWA:TNA!
7) Sabu def. BG James, The Vampire Warrior & Brian Lawler in an NWA World Heavyweight Championship Tournament match (12:36) This was set up earlier tonight by NWA representative Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat, and what a main event it was to the premiere edition of NWA:TNA on pay-per-view. The "Suicidal, Homicidal, Genocidal" Sabu was out for blood, as this match turned chaotic very quickly, no disqualifications and no count-outs counting, Sabu and Brian Lawler trading offence whilst the WWE alumnus, BG James and the Vampire Warrior went at it. Sabu introduced a chair and clocked Lawler before going after James, a headscissors to the Vampire Warrior connecting. Sabu continued as he used the chair as a springboard onto the top rope, then going for a moonsault on Lawler, but Lawler managed to get his knees up. Warrior then nailed Sabu with an Impaler DDT, covering just for James to get involved, the Shake, Rattle 'n' Roll connecting on the Warrior! Brian Lawler then made a comeback, using a stop sign to stun James and leave him on his knees, Lawler then connecting with a gutwrench powerbomb. Brian was poised to put Sabu away though, as he gave him a scoop slam and went up for the Tennessee Jam, but Sabu moved at the last second! Sabu then tossed a chair into the face of Lawler before nailing him with the Arabian Facebuster, picking up the win! **1/2
- The fans cheered loudly as Sabu's arm was raised in victory by Scott Armstrong! Brian Christopher remained down and out, whilst BG James and the Vampire Warrior were disappointed with their loss in the second quarter-final of the NWA World Heavyweight Championship tournament. Sabu was victorious, as he was on his way to the next round to face either Scott Hall or Curt Hennig! The first pay-per-view in the era of NWA:TNA had been written down in the history books, as we went off the air![/blockquote]

First of all, thanks for the long reply, I appreciate the feedback. This should be good. Excited to see where both tournaments go. Awesome six man opener stacked with talent there. Good to see Lynn score the pinfall. Im hoping to see a couple of singles matches between the six men involved in that match, any matchup between those six would be great. The Gertner/Francine segment was entertaining, enjoyed that. Good to see Corino pick up a win. I'm hoping you feature him a lot. Can't wait to see Scott Hall, one of my all time favorites. Nice win for Jarrett, I'm expecting him to end up in the finals. Nice quick win for Pyscosis, cool to see Alexis with Siaki. I've always like James Mitchell, can't wait to see where this Malice angle goes. Really like what you're doing with Mitchell. I've always thought his character was cool and creepy and needed to be used more. The New Church sounds cool and I hope you have some good plans for them. Really looking forward to Hennig and Hall. Love them both. Shamrock and Awesome should be interesting. Good to see Sabu go over in the Main Event. I know he's a botchfest but I used to love the guy. The semis should be interesting, I'm guessing Shamrock and Hall will win but id love to see Sabu/Awesome and Hennig/Jarrett in the semis. I'm looking forward to reading more of this, I've always appreciated an old school TNA diary. Overall a good first show, looking forward to the future.

I was actually thinking of doing a TNA diary from the start again, but I'm glad you did it. I hope this lasts longer than I could ever get (seven weeks or so.)
Typical way to start the show with a six man X-Division contest. I liked all the choices in the match and thought the right team went over. I'm mixed on doing a Lynn/Styles feud since that happened in real life. Hoepfully there is a twist to it or something. For some reason the promo by Lawler just didn't click for me. I know he is self absorb but he is more of an idiot heel than a cocky dude, to me. I like the win for Corino and I hope he gets to form the Extreme Horsemen here. Get Simon Diamond, CW Anderson and maybe Steve Williams to make that a heel group to be reckoned with! Obvious call for Jarrett to go over since he is a top name at the time. I greatly enjoy Sonny Siaki but I'm disappointed to see him lose to Psicosis. I mean, Psicosis is a legit wrestler at the time, but Siaki should've won on the debut show to make a name for himself in TNA. Okay squash match for Mitchell's guys, I guess. I'm figuring they may start a feud with AMW for the tag titles in the future. It's better to have them used on the undercard than the main event scene, so good on that. The main event doesn't interest me all that much, personally. Sabu is probably the best bet to win the match. It seems like the bigger names are scheduled for the second show and that seems like a better card to open up with. An average debut episode, I'd expect a few weeks before your angles and stuff get going. I'll be reading.

| NWA-TNA: TOTAL NONSTOP ACTION #002 |

Wednesday 26th June 2002 - Huntsville, AL

- A video package aired to kick off the telecast, as it reviewed the old-school days of the National Wrestling Alliance, before shooting right to last Wednesday night on Total Nonstop Action Wrestling's premiere, as it showed an innovative new way of the NWA, featuring stars of the future. It showed the action from the X-Division, dominated by Jerry Lynn, AJ Styles, TAKA Michinoku and Low Ki; the return of several faces of the past; Joel Gertner, Francine, Steve Corino, Psicosis, Sabu, BG James and Brian Lawler; and a lot of chaos, from start to finish! This is Total Nonstop Action! An opening vignette aired, dating us back to the territorial days of professional wrestling, mainly in black and white.
- We cut to the Von Braun Center in Huntsville, Alabama for the second pay-per-view broadcast of Total Nonstop Action Wrestling; Mike Tenay, Ed Ferrara and Don West on the announce team as they welcomed us to the second pay-per-view event from NWA:TNA! They reviewed several events from last week on the inaugural broadcast, the start of the NWA World Heavyweight Championship tournament, the NWA World Tag Team Championship tournament, the introduction of many stars! But tonight we will crown the first ever TNA X-Division Champion in the Gauntlet for the Gold.
1) Ken Shamrock def. Mike Awesome in an NWA World Heavyweight Championship Tournament match (10:23) This was our third quarter-final match in the NWA World Heavyweight Championship tournament, all to determine the first champion in the era of NWA:TNA. The "World's Most Dangerous Man" made a return to the ring after being out since 1999 after leaving the WWE due to injury. Mike Awesome however, a former ECW World Heavyweight Champion and previously working in WCW and briefly the WWE, made sure to try and put a stop to Shamrock and his nickname's claim. The "Gladiator" started off strong, a big boot flattening Shamrock and taking him off his offence, Shamrock being worked away at, as Shamrock tried to mount a comeback just to get hit by a lariat sending a groggy Ken through the ropes to the floor. And that's where Awesome felt the necessity to make a run for it, an amazingly agile suicide plancha over the top rope onto Shamrock! Awesome wanted to put away Shamrock in this hot opening contest to NWA:TNA tonight, going for the Awesome Bomb, but Shamrock slipped out of it and went to the second rope, diving at Awesome and gripping in an armbar, Awesome down on his front, Shamrock flipping around and locking in the Ankle Lock! Awesome struggled for several moments, trying to escape, but he finally tapped out! **3/4 - Ken Shamrock celebrated his win whilst Mike Awesome remained on the canvas clutching his ankle, the "World's Most Dangerous Man" having advanced, and on his way to the NWA World Heavyweight Championship semi-finals to face the "Suicidal, Homicidal, Genocidal" Sabu! - We soon cut to a replay from last Wednesday night on NWA:TNA, where Jerry Lynn had just picked up the win for his team with Jimmy Yang and Low-Ki against AJ Styles, TAKA Michinoku and Aguila in an awesome match, but that's when AJ Styles got in his face, Lynn not wanting any part of it from the disrespectful Styles. - We then cut to Jeremy Borash who was standing in the backstage area with AJ Styles, who wanted an update on why he disrespected Jerry Lynn like that. AJ told Borash that he doesn't understand the veterans, that just because Lynn made his way into the wrestling industry before he did and proved his way into fame, being the ECW World Heavyweight Champion, the WWE Light Heavyweight Champion, whatever. But AJ Styles is an underrated name, and this is a promotion focused on the FUTURE. Jerry Lynn is awesome, no doubt. But AJ Styles? He is phenomenal! And tonight he'd prove it, when he wins the TNA X-Division Championship! - The theme of Brian Lawler hit to boos, as out came "Too Sexy" himself, Brian not looking too happy but still as arrogant as ever as Lawler got into the ring and took a microphone, Lawler talking about how last week he was screwed out of the NWA World Heavyweight Championship tournament four-way match, and that it was unfair officiating all along! Lawler claimed that Ricky Steamboat of the NWA Championship Committee had it out for him, and paid the referee, Scott Armstrong to count against him! Lawler continued as he mentioned how it was supposed to be a single, one-on-one based tournament...so why was he in a four-way match to have to qualify!? Lawler wanted an explanation, stating how he should be ready to face Ken Shamrock next week, and beat his ass, and then win the NWA World Heayweight Championship! But that's when he was interrupted by Ricky Steamboat, as he made his way out to the ring, telling Lawler not to worry himself so much; he may have lost last week, but he has nothing against him! Steamboat then told Lawler that alternatively, he has an idea, how about Lawler goes for the TNA X-Division Championship tonight? In the Gauntlet for the Gold? Lawler liked the sound of it, but that was when Steamboat told Lawler that all he had to do was face K-Krush to qualify! 2) Brian Lawler def. K-Krush to qualify for Gauntlet for the Gold (7:59) Poor Brian Lawler wasn't expecting this, to have to qualify for the Gauntlet for the Gold of all things when nobody else had to. K-Krush had a lot to get off of his chest, being cheated out of the NWA World Heavyweight Championship Tournament himself this past Wednesday night on NWA:TNA against Jeff Jarrett. Krush flew around the ring with several flying forearms and spinning kicks, trying to go for the scissors kick, but unfortunately Lawler slipped out of the ring anticipating the worst. Lawler and Krush exchanged offence, as the two former WWE stars resumed their battle, K-Krush going for a falling suplex-facebuster on Lawler, but Lawler slid out and rolled up Krush from behind, pulling on the tights, and Lawler managed to pick up the win! **1/4 - "Too Sexy" Brian Lawler had stolen another victory tonight against K-Krush as the fans booed Lawler for his cheapness! Lawler was going to the Gauntlet for the Gold later tonight, to potentially win the TNA X-Division Championship, and K-Krush was furious! Krush remained in the ring pacing up and down, as Andrew Thomas tried to calm Krush down. The announce team began discussing last week, and how we saw the first of two semi-final matches in a tournament to crown the first NWA World Tag Team Champions in the Total Nonstop Action era, as a duo by the names of Chris Harris and James Storm reigned supreme against WCW alumnus, Lenny and Lodi to qualify for the final. However also last week, we saw the return of Joel Gertner, and he didn't come alone, bringing Christian York and Joey Matthews from ECW with him, as they cited their motivations to bring home the gold! 3) Joey Matthews & Christian York (w/Joel Gertner) def. Jody Fleisch & Johnny Storm in an NWA World Tag Team Championship Tournament match (6:36) Jody Fleisch and Johnny Storm, two high flyers from the United Kingdom made their Total Nonstop Action debut tonight, trying to make an impact whilst taking on the talented duo of Joey Matthews and Christian York. Joel Gertner talked trash to the Briscoes as the match went on, but Johnny and Jody managed to fare well, the former CZW Light Heavyweight Champion, Fleisch impressing the crowd with a suicide corkscrew plancha over the top rope onto the cowering Matthews and York. Storm then followed suit, a handspring senton following as the match continued. York soon caught Fleisch off-guard though, with a gutwrench suplex, and York and Matthews worked away at the smaller Fleisch, York connecting with a reverse tornado DDT before continuing the attack with Matthews. Storm soon got the tag, as he sprung off of the apron and connected with a rewind hurricanrana on York, and then went for the Wonderwhirl on him, but Matthews was the legal man, and he came in from behind and laid Storm out with the Virginia Neck Tie for the win! **3/4 - Joey Matthews and Christian York celebrated their win with manager, Joel Gertner, as Gertner decided to rhyme into the camera, discussing sexual topics and comparing them to winning the NWA World Tag Team Championships. - Chris Harris and James Storm were shown in the backstage area, visibly watching Christian York, Joel Gertner and Joey Matthews taunt them, and next week we will crown new NWA World Tag Team Champions! - Meanwhile, Jeremy Borash was shown in the backstage locker room as he talked about how excited he was, as he was about to get some words from Scott Hall himself, just moments before his NWA World Heavyweight Championship quarter-final match-up! Hall then appeared, asking Jeremy how things were. Borash asked Hall about his thoughts on Curt Hennig, his opponent for tonight. Hall mentioned how he was once partners with this guy, they went across the United States together, as a tag team, a damn good one. But tonight it'll go to show how well Hall knows Hennig, because he isn't going down without a fight! 4) Curt Hennig def. Scott Hall in an NWA World Heavyweight Championship Tournament match (8:18) These two men were very popular here in Huntsville, as the fans were split right down the middle, equally happy to see these two greats in the ring. Former AWA World Tag Team Champions, a decade has passed since those days, and both had gone on to equally successful careers crossing paths in the WWE and WCW in similar times. Hennig started off with his mat-wrestling abilities, managing to outwrestle Hall, but Hall used his showboat style to get back on top, meeting Hennig with a bulldog after Hennig attempted a snapmare. Hall continued by working away at the ribs of Hennig, abdominal stretch applied with Hennig trying to escape. Hennig managed to make a comeback, a dropkick cutting Hall's momentum short, and Hennig went straight for the Hennig-Plex, just for Hall to turn it into a cradle for a near fall. Both men continued their battle as the crowd were on the edge of their seats, Hall getting Hennig up for the Outsider's Edge, but Jeff Jarrett appeared at ringside, getting on the apron and yelling at Hall! Hall got in Jarrett's face until Hennig switched Hall around and dropped him with the Hennig-Plex, securing the three! **1/4 - Curt Hennig celebrated his win to a mixed reaction as Jeff Jarrett dropped back down to the floor and began to leave, Hennig shrugging it off as Scott Hall got back up to his feet and confronted the victor. Hennig raised his hand to Hall, but Scott simply shrugged it off and hugged Hennig instead! The fans cheered for these two veterans showing respect, but the bigger issue at hand now was Hennig was going to be taking on Sabu next Wednesday night on this telecast! - We cut to the backstage area where Jeremy Borash was shown trying to catch a word with Jeff Jarrett for what he just did out there to Scott Hall, Borash meeting him and asking him why he did it, to which Jarrett simply uttered that this was his time, and that there'd be no cliques around to hold him down! Borash was left baffled as Jarrett charged off. Mike Tenay, Ed Ferrara and Don West were shown on commentary as they talked about this pay-per-view event and once again thanking the viewers at home for paying $9.95 for this show. They then went on to discuss the Gauntlet for the Gold as up next we would witness the crowning of the first-ever TNA X-Division Champion. They talked about how this is the perfect way to showcase the great talent that NWA:TNA has to offer, how it's also about the smaller guys as well as the bigger guys. They went on to talk about next week's show, boasting the first semi-final match in the NWA World Heavyweight Championship tournament, as Sabu will be in action against Curt Hennig, but also, a rematch was signed by demand of K-Krush, a rematch with Brian Lawler. As well as this, Scott Hall and Curt Hennig will team up to take on Jeff Jarrett and a partner of his choosing, literally just announced by Ricky Steamboat! And not to mention, the NWA World Tag Team Championships are on the line as Chris Harris and James Storm battle Joel Gertner's pairing of Joey Matthews and Christian York, all next week, all live, all on pay-per-view! 5) Jerry Lynn def. Joel Maximo, Frankie Kazarian, The Amazing Red, Brian Lawler, Jimmy Yang, Jose Maximo, Doug Williams, David Young, Jorge Estrada, Lash LeRoux, Sonny Siaki, M-Dogg 20, Spanky, The American Dragon, Chris Daniels, Psicosis, Kid Kash, Low Ki & AJ Styles in the Gauntlet for the Gold to win the TNA X-Division Championship (56:44) This was a fantastic showcase of the X-Division and its' booming impact across North America, as these twenty stars competed in the Gauntlet for the Gold. Participants entered every two minutes, with elimination occurring by being thrown over the top rope down to the floor; until the final four, where only pinfall and submission would apply. The Maximo Brothers and their cousin, the Amazing Red showed some very impressive teamwork on Lash LeRoux, David Young and Jorge Estrada in the opening moments, but were all eliminated fairly quickly. Meanwhile, Frankie Kazarian made the error of trying a moonsault and instead getting shoved off of the top rope to the floor by Kid Kash, who had shown a lot of arrogance since his days in ECW. Doug Williams showcased a different skill; the British wrestling style, a rolling German suplex taking AJ Styles out of the match for several minutes. The American Dragon and M-Dogg 20 also competed to the best of their abilities, impressing many with their resilience, Dragon with some ferocious chops to the heart of Low-Ki, just to be counted. The two ROH representatives got into a lethal battle of kicks as well, until Ki outsmarted Dragon and dumped him over the top rope as well. Brian Lawler was confident and tried to keep out of the way, assisting in the elimination of the Amazing Red. But soon K-Krush ran out to the ring and eliminated Lawler himself, still frustrated after the conclusion to their match earlier tonight. The match came down to four and the over-the-top rule was thrown out; Kid Kash, AJ Styles, Low Ki and Jerry Lynn remaining, Jerry bleeding after a stiff kick from the American Dragon earlier on. AJ Styles and Lynn teamed up against Ki and Kash as round two began, AJ and Jerry pairing up quite well, a double superplex nearly putting Low Ki down. Kash made up for Ki's inexperience though, Kash with a top rope hurricanrana on Lynn for a near fall. Finally, Kash was taken out of the match after he attempted the move known as the Money Maker on AJ, but Low Ki suddenly turned on him with a spiralling enzuigiri to the back of Kash's head, and that allowed Jerry Lynn to come in with the Cradle Piledriver! Low Ki then went after the more experienced man in the match, trying to take Lynn out with a curb stomp, but AJ got involved as well, Ki posing as a threat, a head kick to the skull of Styles! Ki then went up and went for another top rope curb stomp but Lynn caught him with the dropkick to the gut and planted him with the Cradle Piledriver; covering, but Ki kicked out somehow! AJ Styles slowly mounted the top rope and landed the Spiral Tap on Ki, and then we were down to two! Lynn and Styles, two men that teamed up last week, and Styles disrespected, claiming he was here for his time, and that tonight he would take home the TNA X-Division Championship. Both men exchanged finisher attempts, as Styles and Lynn went in and out of the ring, the fans exploding and wanting more as Styles soon caught Lynn with the Styles Clash, covering just for Lynn to somehow get a hand on the bottom rope! Styles went up for the Spiral Tap again, but Lynn got his knees up, and Lynn went for the Cradle Piledriver, Styles reversing it into a hurricanrana, then trying the Styles Clash, Lynn reversing it into the sunset flip, managing to get the three out of nowhere! ****1/2 - The fans cheered loudly and chanted Jerry Lynn's name as Ricky Steamboat made his way down the rampway with the brand new TNA X-Division Championship belt, Mike Posey raising Lynn's almost lifeless arm high as AJ Styles remained on his knees. Steamboat got on the microphone and officially announced Lynn as the first ever TNA X-Division Champion, until AJ Styles got in Lynn's face, the two arguing as the announce team forced us off the air, hoping for us to tune in next week to see where this goes! NWA:TNA went off the air.

Going to give a generalish reply to both shows so far. First off I think the shows are solid shows but for the start of a company I feel like you should've went more "all out" for the shows to leave an impression. Hall and Hennig (along with Jarrett) are the biggest names in the company and probably should've been on the first show and featured. I do like you placing an emphasis on the X-Division though and the battle royal was well written up especially the final four stuff and I like Lynn as champion. Was kind of pulling for Hall to win the TNA title, oh well, the feud with Jarrett should be fun and the rest of the tournament matches should be good as well.
Overall it's off to a solid start, I still think you should've went to lengths to put on an epic opener but you've got a good building base and I look forward to more.

Ah, looking forward to the X Division gauntlet later on. I'm fine with Shamrock beating Awesome in the tournament. He's obviously a bigger name, but I have always liked Awesome so I hope he isn't just thrown in the gutter. Nice little interview with AJ Styles, I wouldn't mind seeing him be the X Division Champion. But I guess at the start of TNA, it's not the best choice yet. Decent little promo from Brian. Not a big fan of his though, but I suppose it's fine that he's getting into the gauntlet tonight. Matthews and York getting the victory is a solid decision. I actually wouldn't of minded the others to win if it wasn't a tournament match. Looking forward to that battle on the next show. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you so frigin' much for making Hennig win over Hall. I've never really liked Hall at all. And it has nothing to do with his drunkeness and being a moron. Hennig deserves to go far in the company I believe. What? Hall hugging Hennig? Looking forward to the next show with all that is going on. Lastly, a great and long gauntlet match, and I am not surprised at all to see Lynn and Styles be the final ones with the veteran getting the victory. A good show.
