Alright this topic isn't really old enough that I would consider it Classic, but I don't think its new enough to be on the main WWE page considering its about 5 or 6 years old.
I had this idea around the time that they were bringing back ECW as a seperate brand, and thought it might work. I enjoyed Eugene during his time with WWE, not necessarily everything to do with the character of Eugene, but thought Nick Dinsmore seemed to be a fairly talented worker.
If memory serves me around the time of the ECW return the Eugene character had pretty much ran its course and he was basically jobbing and waiting to be future endeavored. I was thinking 'what if' they had moved him to the ECW brand and come to the ring to cut a promo....but when he comes through the curtain theres no smiling and waving, no ugly white and red jacket...just Nick Dinsmore. Dinsmore then begins to cut an angered promo about how he had been saddled with the Eugene gimmick and forced to cater to the fans...
Now I'm not sure where it would go from there, that would depend on his portrayal of his new character, but I would be interested in seeing where it would go from there and think it would have been a decent way to give him a fresh start...
What do you guys think?

heyman wanted to use Dinsmore much more effectively.he wanted him to have a head injury that would shift his personality into a merciless wrestling machine type.
however Steph and her braintrust wouldnt go for it.most likely because Heyman suggested it.

I always had the idea of having someone take out Eugene and then have Dinsmore come back as Nick Dinsmore, Eugene's big brother. It would have been an easy way to end the Eugene gimmick and give Dinsmore a normal gimmick.

I remember there was a rumour on the in-ter-web before One Night Stand 2006 that Eugene was gonna be Nick Dinsmore there. And then I remember Eugene coming out that night at the ppv, and I thought (like most of knew of this rumour) that he was gonna trash the gimmick live on ppv and become himself.
Sadly, The Sandman came out and caned him after a horrible Eugene style rhyme that the fans hated.
Right then and there, I think we all knew the downfall that the new ECW was going to take.

I always wish Nick Dinsmore would have gotten a shot to make it as someone other than Eugene.

I always thought when they had him feuding with Rob Conway, they could have used it as a good chance to end Eugene. In one of the multiple times, it was Eugene and a legend embarrassing Conway, they could have had Eugene suddenly attack the legend, with Conway joining in. The next week Conway comes out, and introduces, Nick Dinsmore, coming out with his hair cut, clean shaven. He then cuts a promo talking about how for years, he had to sit in OVW, and watch guys less talented than him, get the call and leave for the big time. Finally he gets the call, but he's given the Eugene gimmick and despite being disgusted by it, he took the chance, to finally make it on TV. With each appearance as Eugene, a small piece of him died. He was then forced to give a bunch of past their prime stars, another small taste of the spotlight, by teaming with them. It was then, that a true friend emerged, in Rob Conway, reminding him who he was, and how he could physically take apart anyone in the ring, and Eugene was beneath him. He ends it by saying that he's now going to take out all the anger over Eugene, on every opponent he faces. After that they could have built Conway and Dinsmore as a tag team, to an eventual title run.

Yeah, Eugene was definitely a disgrace of a gimmick, it was just downright bad and took up valuable TV time on RAW in 2004. The idea of having him come out during the start of ECW and have him curse out the "Eugene" gimmick would be absolutely golden. And yet again we see the differences between Vince McMahon and Paul Heyman. Paulie saw the potential in Nick Dinsmore but Vinnny Mac saw Nick Dinsmore and saw him as the retarted character "Eugene."
NO PUN INTENDED. ;D
