Un ing believable. I'm baffled at this decision. To say it's Constitutional to force Americans to purchase something is so beyond ridiculous that I don't even know where to begin.

This is one of the issues that I am in 100% agreement with Kliquid on. It's beyond ridiculous. Never before has the government FORCED people to purchase product. At least the Supreme Court ruling makes Obama admit that this is nothing more than a tax.

Yeah, it is complete garbage. Never thought I'd see the USSC stoop to this level, and then I remembered, this is the same judicial system that lets the TSA run wild.

Also, if Kliq and I agree on something political, that is the authoritative viewpoint on the issue. So this thread can be locked now.

To those happy about the ruling I hope you are aware of the dangerous consequences. It is now constitutional for the Gov to force you to buy a gun and pay a huge tax if you don't comply. Even though the commerce clause was limited by the decision, the tax power has now been expanded to essentially give unbridled power to the Feds. Dangerous times.
Also the current penalty is $95. It is much cheaper to just wait till you are sick and then buy insurance bc the ins companies have to take you. Essentially this means bye bye insurance companies hello single payer. The heart of the health care problem is out of control medical costs and Obamacare tax does nothing to cut the actual costs of health care. Still can't believe Kennedy wanted to strike it down and Roberts was the one to uphold.

You know it's a big deal to get me to post well, anything. Kliquid is right. The fact that we are forcing people to pay for anything in insane. I would say this whether it were Republican or Democrat. What is the next thing we will HAVE to pay for?

Tremendously happy over the ruling. Same. Very surprised Roberts was the difference rather than Kennedy.

I'm appalled by what Obama has done with this country thus far. But this ruling would have never came to mind. This is bad, and very ridiculous.

What is the difference in forcing someone to buy health insurance, versus forcing them to buy a Chevrolet vehicle?

Also, if Kliq and I agree on something political, that is the authoritative viewpoint on the issue. So this thread can be locked now. Totally disagree. You guys actually have a lot in common. I don't know if this "Obamacare" is a good thing or a bad thing. like all things it has its pros and cons. I don't want to pay for medical care for some stupid welfare family that can't stop having kids because they are idiots. But I don't think this is going to be the downfall of American society and the beginning of the end - but it makes for a good fear-mongering headline!

What is the difference in forcing someone to buy health insurance, versus forcing them to buy a Chevrolet vehicle? Many people need extensive healthcare treatment to survive. No one needs a Chevrolet to survive. I can see the point of view of your side, and even see how the Constitution might support your argument, but in my opinion healthcare should be written in an amendment as essential.
