Don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but matty confirmed that they won't be offering legends on matty collector next year. The wwe guys answered this question in the forums under "ask wwe guys" thread. Very bummed to say the least. They did say flashbacks will continue in the elite line though. Flashbacks sell out right away and are near impossible to find at retail...hopefully rsc can continue to also offer some neat legends exclusives.

Wow... hope something good happens for Legends It already did in the form of "Flashbacks" Im sure RSC will do exclusives like the Madness one. |

Yep I just read the post in response to a question regarding legends continuing on mattycollector:
"The time has come to answer this question, ZomBieApocaLypse. We do not have plans to continue offering exclusive Legends on MattyCollector in 2013, however we do intend to continue incorporating Legends into the Elite Collection. And at least one of the guys you mentioned has already been slotted in the line for early 2013."
He mentioned Earthquake, Crush, Giant Gonzalez, and Honkey Tonk Man. So we'll get one of those for sure. My guess is Honkey Tonk Man.

I mean better, like have a couple series a years at retail, or be exclusives to RSC or WWE Shop, maybe Mattel Shop.

I don't think he has a legend contract so we won't be getting him in the near future....we'd be lucky to get him in 4 years. As much as this doesn't surprise me, it's still pretty disappointing. I understand they've been trying different ways to release Legends, but ... legends retail line canceled, Entrance Greats/DM figures canceled, online legends canceled ... very frustrating.
Here's hoping we can start seeing two flashbacks per series with more regularity now ... flashback sales is the only positive thing we've got going for us legends collectors right now.

Well.. if it's true, then it very funny! How on Matty it says "WWE By Popular Demand" and they go and cancel it! Nice Mattel, very nice.
Here is to hoping that you're right Marklud and flashbacks can fill this gap in the Legends line, and make them a permanent 2 per set.

It'd even be nice to just have Legends exclusive once a month on RSC. Make enough of them to where RSC can charge like $25 for them and let the legends/flashback collectors get them on there.
If Legends aren't selling at retail, make them available on RSC. It's obvious that there's enough collectors on here that buy through Ringside to support it.

To be honest i think if mattel put guys like yoko, bossman, and diesel into the legends line in the first place the legends line would not have failed. While it is really unfortunate about the legends line i am glad that flashbacks are continuing, they have been some of my favorite figures.

I still dont understand how Legends failed yet Rumblers and Flex Force literally clog the shelves of every single Walmart, Target, Toys R Us, Kmart and any other store Ive been to and yet they're still produced. I dont just mean "in my area" either. Ive been to all different cities/states and many people on here have reported it as well. Im almost wondering if Mattel is just too cheap to put the extra $$ into signing anyone so they're just going to release the people under Legends contracts and call it a day.

Really disappointing news.  He mentioned Earthquake, Crush, Giant Gonzalez, and Honkey Tonk Man. So we'll get one of those for sure. My guess is Honkey Tonk Man. I think it's more likely to be Crush... he was already signed/available to choose in the previous list of Legends they gave us. It will probably be Demolition Crush though... I'd much prefer Kona Crush. I hope they can find a way of releasing more Flashback figures... the Elite cases (boxes) always have 8 figures in them (6 figures, with 2 duplicated) - so instead of the usual duplicated Cena's/Orton's/Mysterio's, why not have 2 guaranteed Flashbacks, then either 6 current-roster Elites or 4 current-roster plus the usual 2 doubles. ?? |
