I recently came across some of my old Hasbro figs and it got me to thinking - instead of WWF figures, what if Hasbro had gotten the license to produce WCW figures instead? Would we have still seen the cartoony style of figure even though WCW presented a more "serious" style? And while WCW had the in-ring talent depth, did they have enough marketable "gimmicks" to sustain a five year run and almost a dozen different series as Hasbro did with the WWF?
Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge NWA/WCW mark, and I love my Galoobs, but what I liked most about the Hasbro run was the variety of characters that were produced. Galoob barely gave us a dozen or so figures (more counting repaints and UK releases).
Apologies if this has been discussed before, but I am curious as to what some of you guys think.

I would have loved a hasbro wcw line, although a few wcw stars of that time were made by hasbro when they joined wwf like sid, flair, road warriors, steiners, Luger.
I know wwf needed a large figure company to carry the brand and you don't get too much bigger than hasbro, I'm afraid galoob would not have handled the run like hasbro did.
Personally I love wcw galoob, the most under rated and under valued line ever IMO.

They wouldn't have sold nearly as well, plain and simple. It would have been interesting though, and WCW sure did have enough goofy gimmicks to go around. They just weren't nearly as popular.
That aside, like most others, Galoobs were some of the best looking figures ever. They still impress me!

Christmas day 1992, that feeling of opening Bret Hart would never of happend.
Would of ended up on drugs & in jail

Would of been about 4 stings, no hogans or macho's (hence hasbro stopped making in 94)
Life would not be the same.

Despite as many G.I. Joes and WWFs that Hasbro made I would have a hard time seeing them making more than a series or two like Galoob. WCW never had the major marketing prescence that WWF had. Galoob only did the two series', they stopped the WCW magazine in 1994, the videos never seemed to be available at the video stores and they didn't have the magazine ads to buy them, even in 1996 or 1997 after the nWo boom I recall ever seeing only one merchandise catalog in the magazine. I would think Hasbro would do their very best, probably produce a majority of the same guys but I feel somehow WCW would put very little advertising into it and kids and their parents might not be aware.

weather galoobs sold well or not they were and still are great figures, wouldn't have replaced them for anything

It's weird how Toymakers used the LJN style but smaller and the Galoob poses but larger. Sting's Toymaker had the Galoob Ric Flair mold, Johnny B. Badd was Lex, Knobs was Pillman, Booker T. and Sags were Windham, Hogan was Sting.
