I am seeking any information on this particular 14" Tiger Mask figure. The reason being is because I own one. A while ago, I paid $40 for one (complete and still boxed like the pictures show) from a guy who didn't know what it was. In fact, he thought it was a Street Fighter toy of the character, King! Anyway, I just noticed on Ebay that one was going for almost a thousand bucks?! Does that seem accurate? I kind of hoped that I was getting a deal only paying 40 bucks, but if it's really worth almost $1000....... For the record, the two images shown are not mine - they were pulled from another website. Mine is at a storage unit almost an hour from my house, and I'm in no position to get there to take my own pictures yet. The pics are mainly for reference as not a whole lot of information seems to be out there for this. But I figured if anyone knows about this thing, you guys would. Thanks for any info you can throw my way!

Anyone can ask any price on Ebay but that doesn't mean it's worth that much or that someone is going to pay that much. I'm pretty sure he's been trying to sell that figure for a long time so I doubt he is going to get what he is asking for it.
As far as what it is really worth there is no way of nothing unless you list it and see what kinds of bids you get. The worth/value of any item is only what you or someone else is willing to pay for it.

That's cool, and I appreciate your input regarding the value. I'm not really looking to sell it, it was just kind of shocking to see the asking price. Is there any other info on it that anyone is aware of, like who actually made it (and what year, for that matter). Misawa is pictured on the box, so I'm assuming it's "officially licensed" by All Japan. It's a really nice piece of work for what it is - definitely worth 40 bucks.

I thought it was a figure from the old Tiger Mask cartoon but if Misawa is on the box it has to be from the early 90's. I think $40 is a steal for that figure but it should be on display, not in a storage unit, if you have the space for it.

It's made by Popy in the early to mid '80s for the manga/anime that translates to "Tiger Mask II World", so Misawa is NOT on the box. The wrestler is based on the manga/anime, not the other way around. If you buy it boxed from Japan and let it be shipped to the U.S. expect to pay between $400 and $500.
edit: it might be Misawa, since he wrestled as Tiger Mask II since 1984...
edit 2: I did some research; the toy is from 1981, therefore it isn't Misawa on the box.

Thanks for the additional info, Ruby! Here are a couple more pics of the box. (Again, not MY pics). Popy also made the smaller figures as well, right? Did they make any other figures the same scale as this Tiger Mask? Thanks again for your assistance!

Popy had the (anime/manga) Tiger Mask license, a license to produce real wrestlers (5.5" figures like Andre the Giant and Harley Race), but was mainly known for their giant robots.

I think you could probably get it for half of that.
