Hey now,
Here's a question for you crazy people:
What's a television show that you enjoyed really enjoyed in its early run but couldn't stand to watch after the series "jumped the shark;" meaning, the show aired an episode that signified it was heading into a major decline.
For me it's Roseanne. I found the first few seasons to be quite enjoyable. But then they won the lottery and things just started getting really stranger. In fact, I think the later seasons of Roseanne were unwatchable.
So what's yours? I think Family Matters is a close second.

Twin Peaks, The reveal - last few episods, are just unwatchable, I can't even remember what happened in those eps and I watched the full series a year ago. Heroes. Season 2. nuff said. My Name is Earl, When he went to Prison and then into a coma, like cmon what the were they thinking there. Eastbound and Down. Season 2, loved Season 1 but the start of season 2 was just too big of a change, and he just happens to go straight into a mexican baseball team, nah. you have lost a viewer.

Heroes. Season 2. nuff said. Biggest crime in Television in history. I refuse to acknowledge anything after season 1. Supernatural after season 5 has ranged from pretty bad to awful.

Agreed completely. What a horrible thing that turned into. Season one was incredible. And then instantly it became an entirely different show.

Agree with roseanne, the first 4 or so seasons rocked,.. then it pretty much became the david/darlene show ,..which was still alright.. but then roeanne kept trying to top herself with more outrageous crap ruining the whole premise of the show for me.. in the begining it felt like real life situations.. then it became were it felt like you were just watching a TV show and not something "real" if you get what i mean..

I would have to agree. I think the biggest disappointment with Roseanne was the direction they went with Jackie's character. I loved when she became a cop and she would go into her "cop routine" when the situation called for it. She was also on track to marry Gary, who I thought could've been a nice long term edition to the show...but then they decided to do away with both angles.

Roseanne after the lottery was horrible. I hate how it ended.
I'll add 90210 to that list.

You want to know what was the real problem with the show? The Writer's Strike. Remember when Adam Monroe drops the vial during the finale? And it's caught so it's never released? That was the cleanly wrapped-up nice ending. If you've seen the bonus features in season 2, and see what they filmed for the other version, you'd see how the show could have been. Instead of the vial being caught, it falls and breaks, leaking the contents into the air. A chain reaction causes lives to be lost while leaving the survivors to sort their way through the chaos. It would've still been a different show than season 1, yes, but it would've been AWESOME. However, to give the viewers closure on the season, they changed it. It left season 3 hanging and they weren't able to recover enough to save the show. Season 4 was, by far, the 2nd best season, but it was too little too late. Season 2's ending and Season 3's lameness were the nails in the coffin. It's sad. I really love the show, I own all the seasons on DVD. I know it's not the greatest, but I still like it.

Season 4 was as bad as Season 2, some of the heroes by then were ing stupid, a deaf woman that can see sounds and a tattooed woman, not to mention HRG had face/heel turned as many times as the Big Show at that point and killing Nathan (? cant even remember his name) Petrelli 3 times in a row was ing intellectually- disabled. Season 1 - untouchable Season 3 - was ok Season 4 - carnival had potential but tanked 2 episodes in Season 2 - ugh.

I didn't know who was good or bad from week to week. It was so convoluted I couldn't even enjoy watching it as half the time I had no ing clue what was going on. Peter losing his memory and that whole storyline after was just unbearable for me. I think that's when I officially just gave up on it. And the deaf girl was the worst, I agree.

Season 2 had so many problems, and instead of righting their wrongs, they just kept digging deeper and deeper into a crap storm.
- Wasting time with the Irish people only for Peter's girlfriend to get lost in time and never referenced again. - Spending a whole season of Sylar travelling to America with two annoying characters only for nothing to amount from them. - Hiro spending forever in ancient Japan. - Introducing Parkman's father as this uber villain only for him to turn out to be a pathetic old man. - Giving Ando a power. - Trying to make Sylar a Petrelli. - Killing off Adam Monroe in what would soon become a trend. - Wasting and eventually disposing of Micah and Molly. - The Eclipse taking away powers. - Killing Elle off to continue the trend. - Parkman's power changing constantly. - Killing Daphne off to continue the trend. - Retconning Mohinder's father's story. - Trying to retcon season 1 and Charlie's story.
There's just so much head ache inducing stuff that shouldn't have happened. They should have never let Brian Fuller go.

Supernatural after season 5 has ranged from pretty bad to awful. agree about Heroes, disagree about Supernatural.Im still a big fan of The Winchesters and the decline IMO still hasnt set in. X-Files after season 5 started to go down the hill rapidly.Sopranos IMO also suffered after Season 4.....too much ing around.they teased the conflict with NY for WAY too long.

X-Files I don't have a problem with, until season 9. Ugh. Outside of the episode (ironic?) Jump The Shark which I loved because of The Lone Gunmen, it was an awful season with a terrible ending.

Supernatural never should have gone past season 5; that was the perfect send off.
